 We've got a Liberty Origin 106 for you today, some nice new upgrades for this ski for this

 So from a construction perspective, this ski still has the bamboo and poplar wood core.

 That bamboo does a really good job of providing a unique feel to a ski.

 Liberty is kind of one of the only brands that uses it as much as they do.

 Really gives them just a totally different feel to the ski, different character and personality.

 The poplar brings the density and the energy to the ski, so it's a nice mix of woods for

 They do add two strips of carbon to the top of the ski, definitely helps stiffen it up

 and make it a little bit stronger, especially in more aggressive skiing.

 But the big thing this year is the addition of the vertical metal technology, the BMT

 So as with the other Liberty skis that we've seen in the past, the Evolves and the V-Series,

 they use a vertical metal strut to get the ski more power and energy.

 So running along the center of the ski sandwich between two poplar stringers is a strip of

 So having it placed vertically does make it stronger, especially versus a horizontal laminate

 The big story with these Origins is this long and ends up being fairly dramatic because

 it's so long, the tip rocker profile here.

 So it starts way down on the ski, this is the amount of ski that we have the rocker

 in, pretty gradual and then a little bit more dramatic at the top, definitely makes this

 thing pop up and out of the snow, makes it very playful, very smeary as well.

 Similar in the tail, not quite as dramatic, but that tail rocker starts right about here,

 so we're dealing with about this much of tail rocker, it's not quite as dramatic of a splay.

 You could say that it's a twin tip, maybe not like a freestyle type of twin tip, more

 like a backcountry freestyle with some free ride tendencies if you really want to label

 But just does a really nice job being a playful ski, you see that rounded tip shape as well

 as the rounded tail shape and that's just going to give the ski a very smooth entry

 and exit into the turn, especially with that fresh snow.

 Just a really well rounded 106, a lot more energy this year due to that vertical metal

 and it does make a difference and we just had a blast on these skis, even on the firmer

 snow here in Vermont you could really feel the difference between this with that metal

 So definitely a boost in performance does not take away from the smearingness or playfulness

 of this ski which has made this kind of a fan favorite over the years.

 But yeah, just a really great addition to the core of this Origin 106.

 But that taper shape in the tail is going to make this ski perform really playfully in the soft snow, allowing the skier to really ride that tail. Not that we want you to be in the back seat, but that's a fun place to be in the snow, especially soft and deep snow. So 106 underfoot, again we're looking at that mid range of that wide ski kind of on the cusp of getting into a powder specific ski, but still has the versatility for that all mountain performance. This is a 176 and this thing generates an 18 meter turn radius

 But that's it. That's the Origin 106. Returns unchanged. Still just a fun really versatile soft snow ski

 Rocker wise, pretty moderate. The taper is really where the ski sets itself apart. Very thin here to the rounded tail. Wouldn't so much call it a twin tip as a turned up tail, but still has that freestyle kind of influence to it
