Levoit Core 400S vs Sharper Image Purify 9

We don't have any pets and clean the house once a month. Will our air purifier not help if our PM2.5 is already low?

Let’s start with what we see before moving on to what we can’t see. Visually this air purifier is round with some visible vents and that’s it. And it’s great. It’s simple design doesn’t try to compete with your home decor

Now, I wasn’t here to review Coway at all, but I couldn't give a review of Levoit's air purifier without comparing the two. Looking at other people's reviews about how Levoit's air purifier helped with their allergies and such though, made me feel like either I got a defective device from Levoit, or our allergies are actually much more severe than the regular folks with allergies. Anyways, given that Levoit gave me no relief from my somewhat allergies in comparison to the other brand that I bought and tried at the same time, I will admit that I would probably not buy Levoit’s purifiers for myself ever again. If I had a friend that just needed something to keep the air clean and somewhat help with odors, AND really wanted one that’s Wifi-enabled, I’d definitely recommend this though

I ordered the Sharper Image PURIFY 9 Whole Room Air Cleaner with True HEPA Filtration, Activated Carbon Filter, Visual Air Quality Indicator, for Home, Bedroom and Office when my dog and I seemed to be experiencing some mystery allergy symptoms and this thing has been a life saver. It's so easy to plug it in and start using it. The touch screen is so intuitive to use, even if you haven't glanced at the instruction manual. My wife has allergies which makes her life miserable at times, so we were looking for something to help with that. It's always hard to tell just how much of a difference these make, but I do like it. We turn it up a bit at night for the white noise and increase air filtration. We have an older competitors brand that seems to register the air quality as worse when the dogs walk by as opposed to the new one makes very little change

My older purifier (2019) is a Bissell Air 220 which I have moved to the basement. This unit is remarkably louder but the loudness is more of a white noise and over time you don’t even hear it. It’s louder but a more pleasant frequency.

It mostly does the job we need it to. The app is very handy and useful. The purifier seemed to work really well to eliminate odors the first day we had it but doesn’t seem to do as good of a job now about a week later.

This seems like a well made purifier but it hasn't convinced me that it is really working. I put it in a room with very old (50+ years) dusty carpet and it continually says the air is perfect, which is a little hard to believe.

I got this air purifier during the pandemic and I am so happy with it. It is easy to use and it makes my room feel so much cleaner. It’s pretty quiet and I leave it on all day! I definitely recommend getting an air purifier like this especially for an office or if you live with multiple people.

Now repaired, I can appreciate the responsive touch control panel, the simple filter replacement, and the overall esthetic design. The electronically controlled motor is very efficient, using only 2 watts on the lowest speed and only 32 watts on the highest setting of “6” where it moves a LOT of air. Had the unit functioned as received, I would have rated it much higher. Replacement filters are reasonably priced and well made, and easy to change

I’m not sure that is very accurate. I’m not going to reduce my rating based on the fancy sensor number and color that don’t seem to be valid. I’m going to see how well it works. The instructions say to remove the filter every couple weeks and vacuum or brush any large debris that might collect on it

The unit will also show you when to replace the filter. It gives off a new "plasticky" smell. I am hoping this smell will fade with time.
