 The 2022 Legion 7 16 is a homerun for Lenovo in terms of looks and design. The all AMD hardware also holds up well against some of the fastest Intel-Nvidia gaming laptops currently in the market.As for the Ryzen 9 6900HX CPU and Radeon RX 6850M XT GPU, they're only a hair faster than the 5900HX and 6800M as found on much cheaper laptops like the Asus ROG Strix G15. Overall performance is only slightly behind most GeForce RTX 3080 Ti laptops and so this is still a powerful gaming machine nonetheless

Why Buy: - In the market for a gaming laptop that could handle the demands of most modern games on a budget. - Hopefully something that lasts as long as my Acer Predator Helios 300 which served admirably (4 years to date), but the GTX 1060 couldn't handle some of the newer games without experiencing dropped frames, even on medium settings.  My first MSI gaming system ever (purchased refurbed/certified) arrived quickly and overall, the MSI Stealth 15M meets my requirements: an i7, 512GB SSD and 16GB RAM, plenty for what I'm asking of it. But not something I would pay the current MSRP ($1200) so getting this for $1000 felt about right

It runs quite hot during longer sessions, but not anything out of the ordinary. My benchmark games were NBA 2K21 and Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous on High (not Ultra) settings

  Gaming laptop batteries are typically not the best and is by far the lowest point for me. It doesn't last long, with more graphically-demanding titles, as the case with the latter. I gave it 1 star, likely because this was used, and a fresh battery might perform better. In addition to NVidia's GeForce Experience software (not included) there are other optimization tools that come with with the stock OS, namely the MSI Dragon Center, but I'm yet to see a profound effect on the battery, so everything stays plugged into AC power

 In comparison, even the laptop I'm updating this on has faster wifi responses, and the manufacturer advised me the wifi on it is running sub par and slow at this time if I wish to send in for repair. With the MSI running far far slower than this, with lag so bad, I have given up using it, as a gaming PC, that's a huge issue. There is no ethernet port, which probably would have been an acceptable solution for me in many instances anyhow, since when I game, I prefer a direct ethernet connection usually anyhow. But, if the wifi had worked well enough, I would have kept the laptop for it's other performance benefits

Extremely lightweight, responsive, excellent GPU & CPU

 The Blade 15 Base is almost a full pound heavier and a few millimeters thicker. But I wouldn’t let those traits alone stand in my way if I was getting ready to buy.

The Stealth 15M is a well-designed laptop without many glaring issues, but for the price of this configuration (and even the less costly ones, which are still fairly costly), you won’t be getting a ton of bang for your buck if you’re a gamer who wants great performance. MSI went with a thinner, more subtle design than some other gaming laptop designs, and that’s one of the best things about the Stealth 15M. But if you’re eager to spend this much on a gaming laptop, either spend a few hundred more to get one that has a QHD screen with a better GPU or wait until Dell’s more affordable G15 Ryzen Edition releases in May.

As for longevity, the Stealth 15M’s three-cell 52Wh battery is good for a handful of hours with moderately intensive use. With one hour-long Zoom call tossed into the mix of some otherwise normal Chrome and Slack usage, it lasted about four and a half hours. If all you’re doing is typing, I could imagine it lasting for close to six.

I'm assuming that if you're looking for a laptop, you're looking for some minimal amount of portability, that unfortunately the 15M just doesn't have

Six months after buying the machine, I'm using it effectively as a desktop computer, permanently connected to a dock. Taking it anywhere is a huge hassle that's barely worth the trouble
