For the Strix G17, they found a 106fps increase in CS:GO even with Optimus ON (from 241fps to 347fps), a 20fps increase in Far Cry 5 (95fps to 115fps) and bumped up the CPU Time Spy score from 9439 to 10564. That's over a 1000 point increase!

I recently watched GizmoSlipTech’s video on the Asus Strix G17 (RTX 3070, Ryzen 9 5900HX) and I have seen some good performance coming out of this laptop. I also have a dilemma choosing between the new Lenovo Legion 5 Pro and the Strix G17. Now coming from PS4 console I have been fine with 1080p resolution but seeing that Lenovo is releasing some laptops with QHD displays I am kind of tempted to choose Lenovo over Asus.

 I opened the laptop up and guess what, regular thermal paste was slathered all over everything! I promptly cleaned it up and repasted it with thermal grizzly conductonaut in order to bring temps back down to the normal 75-85c which I had expected to begin with. I would have had to rma it a second time for a few weeks to a month to get the issue resolved. Bottom line is if this laptop goes out on you just return it. Also the power brick gets extremely hot like 130 degrees F while playing games so unless you cool that with a fan chances are it’s not going to last! I like this laptop but my friend who got the Alienware r17 with the 3080 has had no issues at all and has it running 24/7

RMA after just 2 weeks

  The Link to MyAsus was a thing I never knew I needed. Just for this review, I was able to effortlessly take pictures on my phone and have them on my laptop without having to deal with plugging cables in, or sending files over email. just a simple link from a mobile app to a laptop and it was done. Also, I feel it solves the problem of this laptop having no webcam, as you can use your phones camera

An Incredible Laptop!

 The next point bothers me the most. This is Amazon uk so I was rather disappointed when I opened the laptop to see that is was a us keyboard layout but there is nothing mentioned in the description. I know the pics show a us keyboard layout but even uk shops show the same pics but you get a uk keyboard layout. I’m so happy I didn’t pay for fast delivery cause the laptop is now being returned
