 I don't have a saw, bit changer, decent size file, or pliers, but hey, it's easier to carry and I might not need that stuff. On the other hand it isn't exactly light or thin either. It feels like a brick compared to a SAK, but I get some beefy tools and the tools open with one hand. All in all, that's a trade-off I'll make in many EDC situations

 It also makes it look unnecessarily thick because you immediately think, "just take out all the plastic and you can make this half as thick!" Of course, that's probably nonsense.  As far as overall build quality goes, other than the shoddy Phillips driver (did they get a bad batch with a poor heat treat??), the build quality is fantastic. There is absolutely ZERO play in any of the tools. They are 100% rock solid locked in place with no play in any direction

 It's worse than you think because the raw measurements don't really convey how thick it feels. The boxy square corners make this feel thicker than a SAK of the same thickness. Luckily, it also comes with the pocket clip, which I find immensely beneficial towards mitigating the bulk. (As a side note, the clip is an add-on option for the T2

Good EDC, could be better

I also really like the Rebar (ST300 if you want beefiest), which also has a better file and you can get a bit adapter for it. No clip, and all the tools are internal, which can be annoying, but it's a nice compact package and maximum bang for your buck. When combined with a Free T4 for pocket carry with easy access to basic screwdrivers, and scissors, you get a versatile set up.

So I’m looking to buy my next Leatherman. I currently have a Skeletool and love it. But I just got hired on as an HVAC apprentice so I need something a bit beefier. 

I was thinking either the Wave +, Free P2 or P4 

It’ll be in my pocket so if I got the Wave + I’d have to throw a clip on it. I’m running service calls in people’s homes so I’d prefer to have a multi tool versus a knife if I need it. 

Anyone have any suggestions on which I should get?

Advice on my next purchase

This is a valiant first attempt to make a Swiss Army type pocket knife without being a complete ripoff of that design.  Cons: - Blade needs to be longer - Blade profile would be more useful in something like a wharncliffe shape - Add jimping to back of blade and on back spacer - Needs much better one handed opening for main blade - a bit high in price - rinky dink file - could use an integrated can opener on one of the implements - needs bigger lanyard hole - should be tip up carry - primarily suited for right handed folks - needs more holes to relocate clip and vertical carry direction of blade as well as to have blade face outside of pocket  Pros: - Solid build & craftsmanship - Love the locking blade & implements - Nice package opener tool - Great #1 & #2 Phillips - I like the pocket clip (I’m picky about pocket clips) - Warranty - The implements all work well (file is only exception) - This one tool can be a one tool carry option for some (particularly if you don’t need pliers or a blade longer than about 2”)  Tips: I had a difficult time consistently opening the main blade quickly and one handed. I’m the included photo you can see a clipped & filed zip tie put on as a makeshift thumb stud until I come across material for a better solution.  Final thoughts: I do like it

Close to Awesome

 No less. I simply ground the tool to be usable as an awl, which I need more than a cheap little screwdriver. Also, needs a pouch of sorts to protect it from other in-pocket items when the clip option is not practical for the use. At a minimum, an appropriate sized soft leather pouch should be offered as an option

I'm Mostly Satisfied, but still have a few issues....

  All the tools are sturdy, and have no wobble that I can detect.  If you want a Leatherman that has the traditional pliers, this isn't it. But if you want something in the form factor of a pocket knife, but with a bunch of extra tools, this might be the item for you.

Versatile multitool that doesn't look like a multitool

The media could not be loaded. The Good  It's light weight. It sits well in the pocket. The design of the scissors, awl, screwdrivers, and file are pretty much identical to the tools on the Free P4; which is Leatherman's new pliers

Good and Bad, but Mostly Good

First of all, let me start out by saying that I have been a Leatherman customer for about 25 years and currently own 4 of their multitools. I wanted a smaller EDC multitool to carry in my pocket and decided to purchase the Leatherman Free T4. I liked that it was compact, had most of the tools I would use on a daily basis, and the fact that magnets are used and tools can be opened and closed with one hand. I struggled a bit with the price since it is a bit pricy but I figured "it's probably worth it because after all, it's a Leatherman"

Disappointing multi-tool!!!

 Don’t listen to the videos, this is a great edc knife. It does look blocky but all the edges are rounded and you don’t get hot spots in your hand. The tools are great quality, super thick and sturdy and they all lock out!!!! If you are Swiss Army knife person, than you have experienced trying to screw, pry, poke something and the tool fold up and you bash your hand. That is gone with this knife

Great EDC

I used this for work and love it. Just wish it was slightly thinner and that the knife released in the other direction (same side) to make it slightly easier for one handed use when pulling it out of a front pocket.

 Well designed, attractive and, while I would love for everything to be half the cost, it really is well worth the money.  Liked it so much I bought two and can easily see a 3rd on the horizon! You can't go wrong adding this to your inventory.

 154CM is about as good as you can get without entering "real pain to sharpen/very expensive" territory, while 420HC is about the lowest quality knife steel even worth considering, and the $15 difference at time of writing this review is absolutely worth it.

Nice, but not as nice as I was hoping and expecting

[URL REMOVED] I personally use an Osprey pack.  Many of them come in at or around 3 pounds, which is acceptable for me.  They are a great price for the quality and lifetime warranty.  

  I don't see a reason to carry both this and the tinder from the Zippo kit at the same time.  Pick one and leave the other.
