Leatherman Bond vs Schrade Full Tang Fixed Blade Knife Black G-10

Some quick notes: there is no play whatsoever with the blade. The pivots are extremely tight and it takes a lot of effort to open up and unfold the pliers.

Last but not least, I suggest that you test your knife not on paper but in the field on hardwood and or game that you have just harvested.

I don’t want to bash leatherman at all but I am really disappointed by the quality of the tool, especially comparing it to Victorinox tools (even if the spirit costs about 50$ more). I will stay with my Swisstool and sadly need to carry it on my belt - really was looking forward using the pocketclip of the bond.

The material of the handle is also a bit cheap. This is a quality knife for the price I suppose and the design is good. Just they went cheap with the plastic and it will suffer for it.

This one's kind of interesting. I used my modified knife less Leatherman Bond with bit driver and bit kit to repair my elementary classroom door handle after an active shooter drill. My door handle got bent during the drill so I popped it off using one of the hex bits from the bit kit, unbent it and reinstalled it.

It's okay. I wish the handle scales were closer profiled to the tang - hotspots under fairly mild use. Grind is a tiny bit off (really have to look to see it). Edge grind was quite far from perfect on my example, although it was working-sharp

Due to the all steel construction of the Bond I think that the pliers in actual use will be able to take some significant abuse, similar to the Wave or Spirit. I am ok with not having the replaceable cutting edges as this is not something that I typically use. Note, I like the LM pliers over the Victorinox Spirit as the needle nose is longer. The Bond feels very good in the hand with no sharp points etc

I was surprised that it wouldn't hold up as there wasn't a lot of pressure nor was the molding that tough. I'm hoping that Schrade will warranty this knife. I would think that this blade should have held up. Maybe mine was from a bad batch

I have always enjoyed collecting Leatherman tools since buying a PST a while ago. I knew that the Bond would be simple, and that the plan for the knife and tool setup would avoid locking features to allow for lawful carry in an expanded group of regions and countries. That being said, there's no real value that I see that is comparable to any of the other Leatherman offerings other than the price (the Sidekick and Wingman used to be the entry level offerings). I'm surprised and a bit disappointed that the Bond is a slightly upgraded PST

Best bushcraft/small knife I ever felt on my hands ergonomically and hotpoints on the design blends with my grip(subjective preference). Also, most knives out in the market for its category are priced more and so this one great having a lower MSRP price. Who is this knife for? Experienced knife aficionado who loves the outdoors and is into camping/survival/bushcrafting types and is sick buying over priced products. ergo: ME, this knife is for me (LOL)

I have carried the Rebar for years and this has most of the same functions but saves a little weight. So the Bond does not have a saw or serrated sheep’s foot blade but I will make do with the regular blade. I rarely used the saw on my Rebar anyway. Mine locks tight for a slip joint type

Handle heavy, takes some getting use to. Rusts very easy becareful not to use around out door elements unless nessacary. The Carbon tip can break if used as a tool. Over all I rate it a 3 because of its awkward feel, but i still take a liken to it as i got use to it
