 It's definitely keeping up with me and writes well I don't There's not a lot of line variation, it's just a, you know, regular rounded nib. so it's not like an italic or anything like that that should throw you off. But yeah, overall I like it I Must say I'm very pleased with how this pen writes. Overall very good design

 So just seeing the pen in a box, it's kind of cool how it folds up like that, you know? I Don't know if the boxes would be worth keeping for you, but it's not the worst of pen boxes I've seen out there. but anyway, we don't really care that much about the box. Here is the pen. Now this pen is really kind of a neat design

 we are checking out the La Me Mm fountain pen. This comes in a box at all. The higher-end Lommy is the CP one studio come in the accent this is black kind of. I Want to say it feels kind of like a craft paper covered cardboard type thing

LAMY 2000 Fountain Pen First Impression

Lamy 2000 is just as effective. Smooth nib? They both have it. I found out after using both pens that the Visconti is far too heavy for me.

 (I know there is a stainless steel version of the Lamy 2000, but (1) it's much more expensive, and (2) it doesn't have a window to view the ink level. For me, the stainless steel version is not worth buying.)

  Overall, I am extremely happy with the Lamy 2000. I wish Lamy manufactured a color other than black, so I could keep a couple of Lamy 2000 with me at all times, with different ink colors. (I know there is a stainless steel version of the Lamy 2000, but (1) it's much more expensive, and (2) it doesn't have a window to view the ink level. For me, the stainless steel version is not worth buying

Beautiful pen, great functionality and value

 The pen writes very smoothly. All the time, every time.  So, I have nothing but praise for the Lamy 2000.  The vendor was also worthy of praise

 The price was great. And the pen was delivered a full week sooner than I expected. At this price, if you are looking for a fountain pen you can't go wrong. In fact, this is as good, or better than many pens twice or three times the price

I work from home, but right now my Lamy 2000 is the only pen I allow out of the house, not only because it’s a solid writer but also because it’s solidly built, and so I’m not afraid of banging it around. My Pilot Custom 823, on the other hand, is like the One Ring…and they all wantsss My Precious for themselves. But it is mine, I tell you.

I know expensive is relative but for me a $100+ pen would be expensive and I don't think I've ever paid more than $30 for a pen.  But I might one day want a nice Pilot or something.  I'm sort of a clutz and I would hate to lose a really nice pen like that and most of my writing is not at home so what do people do with their nice pens?

Full disclosure - I recently put a Metro through the clothes washer and completely ruined the nib, so...yeah.

Do you EDC your "expensive" fountain pens?

Given the great reviews I had high expectations but I don't want to keep on twisting my arm to keep on writing with this pen. I am glad it works for other people, but it's not for me. The problem lies with the grip (sometimes called "section"). My first impression was annoying metal protrusions that help secure the cap in place

A quick no brainer guide in choosing nib sizes in an overly complicated fountain pen world: If you write small, go with an EF For the normal writer, F is the most popular If you tend to lean on a bigger font, M will be perfect B is for statements!! This is my response to a query post about "Show Off Posts" which I didn't take as a negative one.

I've been, ah, accumulating fountain pens for a few years now and have been a fan of fountain pen inks even longer. (Blame Nick Stewart).

I have graduated to buying pens over $100 though those are mostly from current individual creators or vintage oddities. But.

Bless the inexpensive pen. Most Asian, like PenBBS, Moonman and, pictured above, Jinhao.

I just did my usual end of the year purchase of ink samples and bottles of ink I've been eyeing which also coincides with me inking pens I haven't in a while. Usually in this category is my Jinhao 51a.

I love this pen. I bought it for $5 off of esypens on Etsy and have never got more bang for the buck. It is one of the most reliable workhorses I have ever used. It will take any ink and perform exceptionally. In the example I've shared, it's Ferris Wheel's April showers. And let me just say, it's been living in this pen for over a week before the above writing example and is doing just fine.

And I really do want to know, especially with all the Inkvent posts, what are other folks favorite "cheap" pens?

Favorite "Cheap" Pen

While it looks like I'm in the minority here, my recommendation is TWSBI. TWSBI TWSBI TWSBI. I was actually thinking about this this week because a few pens I had been using had run dry around the same time, and I thought "Maybe I have some TWSBI's in my tray with some ink left." I grabbed a couple that I hadn't touched for at least three months that had visible ink in the reservoir and gave them a whirl and they wrote perfectly

I hate this kind of post - the open-ended question without a definitive answer, but I need help so - here goes: I've been using fountain pens for 20 years. I have a Rotring 600, a couple of Parker Vacuumatics, a Paker Sonnet, and a Sailor (I don't know the model). I really like writing with them, but it is frankly frustrating most of the time - especially getting them to start. Because of this, I usually use a gel rollerball in lieu of a fountain pen. I am looking for the Apple of pens - one that just works every time - one that I can pick up and use - one that starts when I start - one that's not prone to skipping - one that doesn't require tinkering to work. I'm not limited by budget. I clean them between inks. I prefer to use cartridges for convenience (but, frankly, if a bottled ink (piston, converter, etc) pen is the only way to get reliable performance, then I'll switch). I usually use a medium nib.
