Lamy 2000 vs Kaweco Perkeo

Lamy 2000 is just as effective. Smooth nib? They both have it. I found out after using both pens that the Visconti is far too heavy for me.

It is really light, a major plus for me! pens should make writing effortless, especially for extended use, and this one can barely be felt. Another minor quibble is the wide fine. I assume the wider fine makes it more durable, but the Perkeo fine nib is lays a wider line than the classic Sport does, which is the best fine-nib pen I have ever tried. This can also vary depending on the ink used

(I know there is a stainless steel version of the Lamy 2000, but (1) it's much more expensive, and (2) it doesn't have a window to view the ink level. For me, the stainless steel version is not worth buying.)

The ink also evaporated more than normal. I wrote an equivalent about 1 full page of text in 2 weeks, and the cartridge was only about 15% remaining. Granted this was a dry pen fill up but seems to be excessive ink loss. I've disassembled the nib and feeder, and it doesn't seem to drip any more

The price was great. And the pen was delivered a full week sooner than I expected. At this price, if you are looking for a fountain pen you can't go wrong. In fact, this is as good, or better than many pens twice or three times the price

What's the price competitor Kaweco has to compete with the moonman T1? I paid about £21 for my T1, which is around 30 usd. They have the plastic sport (£17-20) ( the metal sport is roughly 3 times more than a T1, which is partially metal) and the Perkeo (£13-£15).

I work from home, but right now my Lamy 2000 is the only pen I allow out of the house, not only because it’s a solid writer but also because it’s solidly built, and so I’m not afraid of banging it around. My Pilot Custom 823, on the other hand, is like the One Ring…and they all wantsss My Precious for themselves. But it is mine, I tell you.

Given the great reviews I had high expectations but I don't want to keep on twisting my arm to keep on writing with this pen. I am glad it works for other people, but it's not for me. The problem lies with the grip (sometimes called "section"). My first impression was annoying metal protrusions that help secure the cap in place

- Another Lamy - I know they get a lot of hate but I love love love the grip. I have an Lx along with a couple of Safaris. Super durable.
