Kum Long Point vs X-ACTO School Pro Electric

I like the 2mm pointer in the KUM "Automatic Long Point" sharpener, and the tiny KUM ones that are just a blade mounted in a very small piece of plastic. Rubbish bin required! I just took delivery of a Staedtler rotary one today, but I have barely had time to check that it works. Seems nice, though.

Some shatter the pencil while others leave the tip dull and rounded, completely invalidating their purpose. The Kum long point sharpener is not cheap rubbish. Its price, while relatively low, may seem steep for a simple hand pencil sharpener, but it's worth the extra bucks. The sharpener includes two blades

Last lastly just no nice point anymore. It barely gives you a tip to write with. Had to buy a new sharpener different brand. It's used for homeschool and not all day so thought it would have lasted longer

( By the way, if you should need to replace one or both of the blades, be very careful when torquing down the screw or you could strip it.) I purchased 2 KUM AS2 sharpeners, so with the shipping, the total came to slightly over $20.00 for one usable sharpener. UGH! Was it worth it

Still far too expensive for a teacher's budget. Even with the slight discount. This is my third sharpener this year. Hope this one lasts

You can actually sharpen just the lead again if it dulls but eventually you have to repeat both steps. This pencil sharpener is really designed for artists. It is not really necessary for just writing and you would have to be sharpening it all the time since the point is so narrow. It is great though to be able to get such a sharp narrow point for small details in a pencil drawing

We have a small (this is much larger than I thought!) X-ACTO electric sharpener at work and it sharpens perfectly. For my home/ school-aged kid, I'd hoped the large, pro version would be the same or better, but it's not. I like a really sharp pencil if I have to use one. This cuts off when it's sharp "enough

After only a month or so of light use, this pencil sharpener is USELESS. In fact, it destroys pencils and makes them less sharp. It's like it eats them up. I have gone back to using a cheap metal sharpener that came with my pencil set

Before making this purchase, I was concerned because not all electric pencil sharpeners are worth the price, or are able to stand up to the daily (hourly) use in a school, but so far I have been pleasantly surprised. My high school students like that it's quick and quiet, and so do I. I will not use this for any colored pencils as a precautionary measure to ensure the product works for as long as possible.

As travel resumes, just what I needed for my multi-year collection of sketching pencils, a compact sharpener. Consistent pointing, cleaner and easier than a pocket knife.
