Korg Volca vs Moog Matriarch

Not worth it. The DX7 is so well emulated on pc and on ios/android that allow for better programming and patch management that getting the hardware is a bit silly for the sound alone, and there are plenty of other, better late 80s / early 90s synths that feature the FX20 or FS style keybeds of the DX7.

It’s only monophonic. Paraphony isn’t that useful if you want true polyphony. But the quality and immediacy of the tone is incredible, the patching possibilities allow you to get outrageously zany, and the dual bucket delay is to die for. Four oscillators which can be synced can give you the thickest leads and basses you could hope for, and that muddy delay brings a vintage tone that sends you plunging back through time into the vortex

Behringer Deepmind 12: Bought mine because it was cheap. It's kind of the "bastard child" in my current rig: I don't dislike it enough to sell it and it's quite useful, I just avoid using it.

The Sub Phatty is simply the best synth you can buy at the $1000 and below price range. Not that this is 1978 and there is a lot of competition in analog monosynths, still this is a great addition. Reminds me of a Korg MS-20, but with Moog sound. There are presets, but it's a great synth for learning, if you don't know you VCF from your VCO
