I got my jam buddy one for Christmas and I've been nothing but impressed by some of the sounds that come from that thing

I need a good gift suggestion for fathers day. This is his current set up minus a minibrute, a nuetron, 2 kastles, a few pocket operators.

 I did not power it on until a month ago, because my wife and I bought a house. Music was not on my to-do list. I have tried everything, Korg MIDI driver install, Librarian install, about a dozen different USB cords to connect, and I get the same result, NO CONNECTION. I took the unit apart, soldered a USB C connector in place of the original, and tried USB C cords

Korg has driver issues. I have tried connecting to the Volca Sample 2 with both my Windows 10, and my Mac. Same exact issue occurs, no connection. Even after purchasing new usb cords that support data and charge, no luck

Compromised review. 5 Star for Austin Bazaar, 1 star for Korg. 3 Star for unit after modifications.

Go with the volca Bass and Volca Drum. Basically I want to ape on Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb as well. The sound engines on those will get you where you want to go real quick, and the sequencers and general interface are way easier to navigate.

I’m totally new to synths and want to get me a PO to try to get a 80s sound like Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, DAF,… but in a minimal setup, that i also can use outdoors.

 I would have given it a 5 if it was full poly but hey, can’t get it all for this price point.

Insane amount of fun, very well-designed device that has a large amount of flexibility and heavy sounds (plus you can add your own). The filters and tweaks are great, it was hard to be disappointed with such an inexpensive and magical instrument.

 So, let's just deconstruct that on the first layer I've got this brass sampled I should mention we can actually double tap on these buttons to switch layers on and off. So we select layer one and we're just listening to loud one. This also works on the effects as well. We'Ve got double tap, which is kind of useful, so layer, one is basically single multi sample, which is trombone and octave

 We'Ve got filters, we got Ella phones when it got envelopes, there's a lot of other stuff inside. So let's just take a look at the connections about 12 volt DC power supply, which is included power switch. This does have the annoying off after 4 hours leaving set in the settings MIDI in and out on, standard MIDI, jacks, USB MIDI, damper, pedal, left and right. Court reject out ports and a dedicate head for an output which doesn't appear to have its own volume level, and that's it for your connections

 So that'll be this guy, which it's quite skinny: it's not what you call the biggest kind of girthier sample. Then on the next layer, I've got just a regular wave shape: [ Music ], that's just a wave. So what I'm actually doing is I'm modulating this? The amplitude and giving that kind of movement - let's come back to this, then by layer, see, is triggered only when I hit hard enough. So it brings in this to this temp and then lad D adds this temp role

 I can change the filter in the saw order by different kinds, hit enter to apply, and then I can come back and I can have. The collection plug in guru did a load of science for this there's original wave stations and the new wave stay here enter. I mean, but this is a lot of button, presses to kind of filter out and said to Al this category, blah blah blah blah. If we come back to it being a wave sequence then hit the list of available waves, we've got all sequences and you can see the various steps on there

Sonic LAB - Korg Wavestate Review

 The first page sets the loop start and end points, and overall Lane start and end points and how many repeats it has. Generally speaking, there are obviously exceptions and other parameters, and then the third page to the right of the middle page, has Lane utilities so again for each of the lanes. It'S always laying utilities. On page three, this lets you cut steps, copy, paste, insert steps and change the lane length

 Now I've got this mod wheel, controlling a filter cutoff. If I hit the mod matrix button again, I can view this one mod slot that I have in my matrix and add an intensity source to it as well. So let's go ahead and go to this parameter. If I hit enter, I get a pop-up that lets me select multiple other mod sources that I can go back and forth here, or just simply press the button or turn the knob it'll jump directly to the parameter that I want, which is the filter LFO and If I hit enter, I now have these two sources: the mod wheel and the filter LFO, impacting the filter cutoff

 Should here planning now you've got earphones on it's at a filter. You can change the start phase of the LFO at an offset to change the curve fade it in which is cool and you've got all these shapes usual suspects, a guitar shape for pitch bends options. These can be tempo synced. They reduce the frequency just a bit with random timing, few random options and smooth you can create vibrato with the pitch envelope

 There are currently no plans for creating a full-fledged companion. App for editing sounds the biggest feature on my wish list. Is the ability to load my own samples into wave state which currently isn't possible again here to Cork, says: that's not on the roadmap at least not now. There are plenty of sounds on board, so there's a good likelihood, you'll find what you're looking for or something similar, but obviously that doesn't compare to the ability to load in your own samples

let's get started the original wave

station from the 90s had two main
problems first it was notoriously

difficult to program and second its
ability to sequence sounds while an

impressive effect at first tended to
sound repetitive and monotonous each

step had its own sample pitch and timing
all locked together the main thing

that's new about wave state aside from a
much larger sample library is that you

can sequence the pitch timing and other
parameters of these sounds separately in

sequences or lanes that have a different
number of steps or playback directions

and even looping points from each other
this lets you create sequences that

evolve and are much more organic rather
than simple repeating loops each element

like the sample used the pitch in timing
gets its own lane and every new step all

the information from the different lanes
is combined into a single sound

I'll show you plenty of examples when we
talk about the individual lanes this can

be used for rhythmic patches like this
one but also for much more subtle ones

so for example this preset or
performance has three different layers

let's just listen to them one by one
this is layer a you can see the timing

Lane sampling and pitch Lane all change
step-by-step and what you're hearing is

a combination of these three each with
their own length and loop order this is

layer b2 these sounds and you can hear
the sample change and its shape change

before we look at the details of wave
sequencing 2.0 wave state also has a

vector synthesis engine the idea is
quite simple as you saw before you can

load up to four different sounds or
waveforms into each of the layers with

vector synthesis you can change the
relative volume of each of these layers
