 The six hundred and fifty dollar XD looks very similar to the original mini log. It'S got the same metal front, plate wooden back minimal black knobs and lightly textured switches as the rest of the line. It'S a design, that's quickly becoming iconic, and it doesn't just look great. It feels great too

 I'Ve only had it a few days and have mostly been playing with the presets, but the sheer range of tones you can get is simply stunning. If you need proof just check out the music playing now, it was made entirely with the mini log XD, including the drums. The only external processing I did was to add a little compression and EQ enabled [ Music ] Gorga's landed on some sort of magic formula that many of its competitors simply haven't figured out yet and when it comes to bang for your buck analog since there's still The company to be [ Music, ], you [, Music, ] 

 It'S a design, that's quickly becoming iconic, and it doesn't just look great. It feels great too. The knobs and switches are satisfying and they feel like they were harvested from the sort of tank like since companies built in the 70s. The only real knock here is the keys just like the original mini log

Korg Minilogue XD Review

 Somehow, I’m beginning  to wonder if the JD-08 isn’t the more interesting synth out of the two  new boutiques (and, as already mentioned, I’m really interested in this  form factor so there are few other options for me in this case). It just  seems like the JD-08 is sparkling a bit more, while still having the  ability to produce retrowave-compatible sounds.

* If I have batteries inserted and power it through usb-c, I would  expect it to seamlessly switch from usb-c power to battery if I unplug  the USB cable. Instead, it just shuts down. I lost a sound design in  process as a result of the USB cable coming loose, despite batteries  inside.

* The form factor is really neat. The build quality is great. It’s  heavier than I thought and perhaps not as easy to use on the lap unless  you have a healthy back and neck of a 20-year old (I’m not one of those  anymore, I’m afraid!), but the fact that it’s battery powered and can be  powered by usb-c is amazing and makes it so easy to plug and play. I  have a small pair of wired 3

5mm earbuds that I keep connected to it all  the time. It’s small enough that I can keep it in my narrow little  bedside table drawer, meaning it’s always close by when I feel like a  quick jam. The faders move a little too easily for my taste, but they’re  very responsive and accurate, so in practice they’re a joy to use.

 And you don't have to connect a myriad of costly external effects units. This is one of the reasons I chose the Minilogue XD over the original Minilogue. Synth aficionados online may claim that these effects are not high quality enough, but this is an exaggeration - the built-in effects sound incredible. On the Moog Grandmother there's an authentic spring reverb tank for analog reverb

 - When using a particular program/preset, none of the physical knobs reflect the current state of the synth. However, it's not intuitive that you have to press Shift + Play for the "panel load function". While I understand that this is a limitation of an analog synth with built-in programs, I feel that there should be a dedicated "panel load" button. Certainly, it should be mentioned in more than just a subsection in the hard-to-locate online-only PDF manual

  Is it perfect? No. I would love more voices, a full filter envelope generator, maybe another LFO, 24db/octave ladder filter for a meaner filter sweep. Does it sound like a Matriarch or OB-6? Not quite. But in many respects it's so much more, for much less money

Summary: This is a perfect analog synth to get you started. Plenty of capability to keep you hooked as you advance.  - A major factor in my decision to get this synth was the excellent design. The intuitive layout of all the knobs and switches along with the display and built-in effects is simply not found in any other analog synth of this size, quality or price

Absolutely incredible all-in-one synth solution - UPDATE after 2 years

 As far as I know, and according to raw sonic capability, the Minilogue xd is the best you can buy at this price point.  (CONS) Things I don't like:  -Limited modular capabilities; if you're interested in going down the rabbit-hole of modular synthesis, you might be disappointed that the Minilogue xd has a CV in/out and sync-in/out capability for modular expansion and experimentation.  -Complexity & Potential; This point would definitely be in the "Pro" section of this review if I had more knowledge and experience. I've discovered that there's a massive learning curve to overcome when becoming familiar with sound synthesis, so this was an issue for me when I first bought the Minilogue xd

  -Waveform Visualizer; It's been an invaluable learning tool to have a visual reference for the sounds. It's probably not a selling point for those with more experience using synthesizers, but as a beginner this was a huge resource for me. It also just looks really cool, and makes the product seem more legit.  -Price Point; from reading dozens of reviews and comparisons, and talking to veteran synthesizer enthusiasts and a few industry professionals, you're not going to find too many options as powerful as the Minilogue xd for this price

Well, that is easy to, of course, and with the inclusion of dual sub outputs, the m10 is ready to rock and roll again along the lines of connections. Nad was not messing around and with the additional control in the blue OS operating system that lets you set your crossover yeah things just got pretty serious for subwoofer junkies yeah, so no commentary needed anytime. I see any kind of a preamplifier or integrated amplifier with one subwoofer output or again super-smart connections when it comes to the NAD m10

 Is that what you actually end up with the answer? That question is well in my case. No, it's definitely better, so don't draw any conclusions based on what I just said here is what I was looking at with the SPS ultras before, and here is what it looks like after so another thing that I want to try is what happens if I take That microphone and I move it off access. So if I'm trying it, you know to the right to the left, do we end up with anything less than a linear response, and the answer is no, which is a good thing. So this is where a lot of the hardware and software that I've used in the past it just it was awful because yeah it corrected what you're hearing on access

NAD M10 Review! 10 Things for Audiophiles!

 This is what brits like to call pratt pace, rhythm and timing. I do think that the the new nad matches the name in that respect. The nad is also a little bit more lit up in the lower treble than the name, which i would call a little bit softer and a little bit rounder, which is no bad thing, and that makes the nad m10v2 perhaps better suited to maybe warmer loudspeakers or Thicker sounding speakers, like the bookart s400 mark ii, that we made a video about last week. However, the nad gives us that squeegee clean transparency that i talk about a lot these days, that the name unity atom really can't muster now how you feel about this will largely fall to your listener type

 It'S heavily filtered and focuses on the sort of upper mids, so it kind of just fills out the recording a little bit and it's really really good for live albums like lcd sound systems shut up and play the hits, but also with the tv feeding the nad Using hdmi arc, i can now tap 5.1 surround content from netflix and what the nad does is converts that into 4.0 or 4.1 sound channels

 So all we have to do is fuss a little bit over the gain on the sub and maybe position, but i think i've got that pretty much sorted in this room for now and we don't get base management from the name. The name just asks us to feed our subwoofer from its preamplifier outputs in what we generally call augmentation mode. Now, when listening to that deadbeat ep, i much prefer the nad's take on events on musical events and maybe that's down to the fact that the nad gives us high pass filtering on our mains, whereas the name does not. And if you're at all confused by what i just said, then you need to listen to episode 30 of the darko audio podcast

 Because are you ready for this? We don't all listen for the same things. We might think we do but subconsciously. That might not be the case. So, if you're somebody who really gets off on sort of the ultra resolution of sound and being able to see all the tiny details, then you're likely going to prefer the nad m10 v2

The NAD M10 V2 is EVERYTHING

 Yes, it's a little bit more opaque than the NAD, but it sounds like it's in more of a hurry to get through music and it has - and this is the big difference. Actually, it has more punch than the NAD, which often comes off as sounding very beautiful and very pretty, but a bit polite with dynamics. One of my favorite American bands is giants, and I've been listening to a lot of giants and this week and in trying to conclude the differences between the name and the NAD. In short, pithy statements, I would say that the NAD is cooler tonally, but more transparent than the name, and the name is a bit warmer and offers us more impactful dynamics

 It also has a slightly wider soundstage and I think it's a little bit taller, but sometimes I think it is and just as I think it is it's not so, in contrast, the name sounds a little bit more opaque, but in roon it requires a lower volume. Setting, even though this is rated, I think it's and the NAD is a hundred this. You have to bring the volume slider down a little bit. This feels like the more powerful amp with more Headroom

 The first is super tight bass. The second is transparency in the extreme, and the third is a very finessed delivery of surface textures, one Darko audio reader emailed me saying John, please be really harsh on the m10. I want to know what I'm missing from the big Hagel amplifier that you use. Quite often, you get a more incisive top-end from the m10 with these habits
