 The flipper has nicely done jimping for fingertip traction. All edges are radiused and finished. The handle shape is fantastic for a secure hold and the aluminum scales are roughed up slightly for a good grip. The overall size is what is for me the max comfortable pocket carry size

Bigger knives like the BM Barrage take up most of the jeans pocket. This Link is slim enough and just shorter enough to leave pocket room for keys and coins and a hand

  The 420HC steel of the Link is plenty good enough for most purposes. It requires sharpening more often than the S30V but it is a well proven blade stainless steel. I don’t generally like liner locks since you must put your finger in the blade path of travel to unlock it. Use focused attention always when closing one

  The blades of the two knives are very similar: same length, same thickness with a tapered back and point though the Link has a sharper point and slightly more belly, same length of handle and overall, both have quality scales over sturdy stainless liners, same handle thickness. But the Volli costs more than 4x the Kershaw Link.  The 420HC steel of the Link is plenty good enough for most purposes. It requires sharpening more often than the S30V but it is a well proven blade stainless steel

 A qtr turn on the locking nut fixed that without loosening the blade...now it works perfectly

Very sharp with premium/super premium steel

I really like my Link and carry it most days. I used to carry my Cryo_2, but I like this better (good steel, feels good). The blade is large enough and 'beefy' enough to take everyday use. The only thing I wish was designed different is that it has a frame lock, that requires one to push it to the side (and thus putting a finger in the path of the blade) when folding

Great everyday knife. Looks good and is practical for tough jobs.

 That was easy enough to sharpen to a point however. With the Link, I found that after I deployed the blade, the lock was very strong, with no blade play. Additionally, some people have concerns about flippers deploying in their pockets and cutting their leg. Obviously caution should always be taken when you're walking a round with a sharp knife, it's not your phone and keys, it's a potential weapon

 That said, the flipping mechanism, though fast and fluid in its movements when you hit the switch, is heavy enough where I imagine it would take unusual pressure to have it deploy by accident. If you want a fast, satisfying, sharp flip knife, Kershaw makes some of my favorites.

 While I did not observe any design flaws with the lock or flipper mechanism, I imagine some factory flaws might exist. When I first go the Headgrille I was surprised to find the tip a little blunt. That was easy enough to sharpen to a point however. With the Link, I found that after I deployed the blade, the lock was very strong, with no blade play

This blade, the Link, and the other Kershaw knife I own, the Headgrille, a sadly discontinued spring assisted flipper, are really solid designs and work well when you need a blade deployed fast with one hand. The Link is smaller and lighter than the Headgrille, and that would perhaps be my only complaint here. I preferred the heavy metal body of the Headgrille, which could be used as a glass breaker in an emergency, over the Link which feels about as light as a Swiss Army Knife in your pocket. Additionally, the light weight of the Link does not equal soft, flimsy quality, as I've found with some knifes from Spyderco for instance. This knife could probably take a beating

The Buck 110 Pocketknife: The Full Nick Shabazz Review

 Hey everybody, Nick here, and today I've got a review of an American classic which also happens

 to work for Thrifty Thursdays, because this is a $30 knife. This is your Buck 110. And so,

 you know, Buck is not a brand I talk a lot about, because unfortunately a lot of their modern stuff

 just isn't really that great. But this is such a classic. The 110 was developed in 1963-64,

 someplace in there, and is used by a lot of people. And it's kind of become a stereotypical

 pocket knife. If you say pocket knife to somebody who's not one of us, they're going to think to

 themselves something probably along these lines. And so, yeah, it's an interesting thing, and so I

 figured I'd finally give it a chance to check out. And for size comparison, this is not a small knife.

 Here's your Spyderco Delica, and here is your ZT-0452CF. I'm putting the two of them next to

 each other. It's very apparent that this is a large-ish knife. No, no doubts about that.

 Three and three-quarter inch blade. Very, very large. But that's okay. That's just part of the

 charm. So anyways, let's just jump into the good, the bad, and the ugly of this American classic.

 All right. So, good. First and foremost, I do like the blade a lot. It's not that thick. In terms of

 thickness here, you can see your Spyderco Delica. It's only marginally thicker than your Delica.

 And so that's nice. It makes for a fairly competent slicer, especially with this hollow grind.

 So, you know, the blade shape is fine. It's a very good utility blade shape. Maybe a little scary,

 but this looks like something grandpa would carry, so it, you know, you can get away with it.

 Not so bad there. The wood here is not actually wood. It's the diamond wood, which is the same

 thing Benchmade used on the Valet. It's basically a bunch of plies of wood that are epoxied together

 to form something that looks woody. And, you know, it works. There's no big deal there. No problem.

 No problem. So, you know, that's a nice thing with it. The backlog on it is nice. It's further back

 on the knife. The mid-backlock on something like your Spyderco or a lot of modern knives is a little

 more of a recent innovation. The backlog here is way in the back, which means that it is kind of

 a two-handed backlog. You can't really do the Spyderco, or at least I haven't been able to

 find a way to do the Spyderco thing where you can close a backlog one-handed. This is a two-hand

 knife, and certainly there's no way to open it one-handed that I'm aware of unless you, like,

 grab the blade and flip and then you're just going to hurt yourself if you're anything like me.

 But anyways, it's got a good backlog and the lock-up is very solid. There's no real complaint here.
