 If I had any kind of skill and creating or modifying knives, which I would like to, I would recess the pocket clip into the handle scale to make that be firm, like it's not going anywhere. So that kind of bugged me a little bit about it and we all have that one steel that is just a pain in the butt to sharpen and get an edge on CPM one. Five four is absolutely that steel. For me, it's been super hard to try and get an edge on this thing

You know I've already mentioned automatic tactical capability, the all-black finish so there's gon na be no white reflection in a tactical situation whatsoever off this blade, which you know conceals your position wherever you might be. You got a lanyard hole which I find I like putting lanyards on my knives, because when it's in the pocket, if you need to grab it really quick, you can identify that lanyard sticking out of your pocket to help you draw it out

 it's ok. not the fastest opener I have. Blade is reasonably sharp out of the box. Seems like a durable, robust tool but if I had to do it all over again I would probably get the full size SOG Trident

 Nor does the handle texture promote positive grip, it's more just irritating. I would have given this blade 5 stars if the handle was ever so slightly thicker for a better solid grip, and if I could get the safety lock to function smoothly one handed.

Blade is same great quality as any other Gerber I have ever owned. I'm only giving it 3 stars because the handle is to thin, the safety lock is so stiff I have to use two hands to unlock it, and the textured handle is frankly not very pleasing to the hand.  But the thing that really bothered me is that the spring (as in the one that assists in opening) broke. And since that happened, the lock does not stay engaged either (I assume that they are connected). So now this thing is going in the trash. The blade literally just flops back and fourth

 But I will probably not own another one. Life expectancy should be more than a year an a half. EDC tools should be more reliable. My EDC of choice now is a Spyderco Endura 4 Wave that I also bought from Amazon

  Con: Steel did not keep much of an edge. Too much of the edge is wasted on serration (I know this is easily discernible from the picture but in the field I only used the serrated section once. Usually it just got in the way). Too much play in the blade

 The open assist thumb stud to me is a little low but that is a personal preference depending on hand size. Overall if you are looking for a everyday carry that is heavy duty and reliable look no further and for the price it can't be beat.

 I own a SOG Flashback and it's extremely quick and you can feel the power of the spring, in this Gerber the blade isn't under extreme pressure but is quick still. When you open the knife up the blade makes a very distinct sound that I find very unique and threatening if on the other end of it. I bought this knife because I also own the Gerber 06 Automatic and to be how honest it's hard to tell speed of the blade between the two. Only difference in the Auto is that it is very smooth and quiet

 Additionally this knife also has a spike at the rear end of the knife which should come in handy to break windows, and other heavy objects. One thing I wish they would improve is to make the thumb safety/blade release button more aggressive so you can engage it easier especially if wearing gloves. Overall a great EDC Knife

 The knife size and weight is substantial. This is a very sturdy knife with a good safety mechanism and nice feel. A solid knife with very good blade and hight quality crafstmanship.

A nice Fast Opening, Sturdy Knife

It is definitely a durable knife. I have carried this knife with me for about a year now and my only complaint is its weight. Eventually I will get a knife that weighs less and keep this one in my backpack.
