Kershaw Camp 10 Fixed Blade vs ESEE Junglas Black

I also examined the Camp 18 that I also received same day and it was flawless. I have yet to put it through a workout but I'm certain that it's a beast. It is razor sharp and I mean RAZOR SHARP!! I'll write a review of the 18 under the Camp 18 section but I wanted to share that this defect on the 10 was not present on the the 18. Please don't let this prevent you from buying the blade

They're not just throwing junk together and collecting a paycheck. The blade is thick and very strong and comes out of the box sharp enough to shave your arm hair. It pulled the hair a little but with a handful of passes on my spyderco sharpmaker it was smooth and just rolled the hair off! This thing is scary sharp for being as big as it is. The handles are beautiful and offer great grip

After taking a green kitchen scrubber to it to get the pine sap off the blade, it wore through almost completely. Normally this would be a significant issue for me, but given the price point of the knife, I can accept it. -Blade, particularly edge, grind. The blade is what's usually referred to as a saber-grind; a full thickness section along the spine or back edge of the blade, tapering linearly down to the edge

I researched a lot of large knives and could not find an overall better deal. I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and with Amazon primes 2 day shipping I ordered on Friday and received it on Sunday.

I typically build small camp fires, and because it doesn't really have a full tang, I wasn't about to do any batoning with it. For what I do with it, it's great. Do not expect this knife to be an all-around knife for your camping and fire building adventures. This is NOT a heavy-duty knife

Seriously? After a few more swings the edge was noticeably duller. A few weeks later, for my 2nd time using this knife (again, just testing it out), the blade got dinged from a knot in another small limb. So, after just two test uses of this Camp 10, i.e

It has excelled for almost two seasons of chopping and splitting seasoned black locust, one of the hardest domestic woods in America. I have NEVER chipped or rolled this edge on wood of any kind, no matter how hard or dry. And although I do enjoy Ontario Knives, the Junglas’ black coating lasts months longer. It serves as a cross between a machete, knife and hatchet. So with this you could use this instead of the former combination. That said, I would not want to carry this backpacking because of its weight. And I do not like the sheath straps

At first i was skeptical of using 1095 steel, but i now see the advantage over stainless. This blade will get a razor sharp edge effortlessly, and most importantly, WILL HOLD THE EDGE. People, just learn how to take care of it. This is a REALLY big knife and quite heavy, so if its gonna be used for backpacking/hiking, i recommend something more lightweight, like the Esee 6, or the Junglas 2, but if you have a strong back, this thing will do anything really good, batoning, feathering, etc

The knife is exactly as described on the site I found one problem which isn't all that terrible but it still is a problem any how the sheath itself takes and holds the knife too loosely for my taste I can probably remedy it but I just haven't figured what I will be doing just yet further review will reveal what I intend to do for now it is a very good knife well worth the price as compared to a few others

The sheath is great, it's a kydex model with all the right attachments and capabilities, and retains the blade whether you have it strapped in over the handle or not - it's designed to hold the blade regardless. Now, I will say this: you lose out if you decide to go the initially cheaper route and buy the Junglas by itself for $139 - then decide you want the kydex sheath separately. I considered doing this, but it's not smart. Why? Because the sheath sells here on Amazon for roughly $75, give or take a dollar

Minus 1 star for a couple small things. First I thought the butt of the handle looked larger in the pics than what it is. I would have liked it larger to help prevent accidentally flinging out of my hand during forceful swings. I also have long fingers and the handle is a bit small for a comfortable grip further giving the feeling the knife may go flying

.Micarta handle feel good in the hand and will be adding a paracord lanyard as additional safety.
