I also examined the Camp 18 that I also received same day and it was flawless. I have yet to put it through a workout but I'm certain that it's a beast. It is razor sharp and I mean RAZOR SHARP!! I'll write a review of the 18 under the Camp 18 section but I wanted to share that this defect on the 10 was not present on the the 18. Please don't let this prevent you from buying the blade

In fact I am glad to have the opportunity to make a custom grind angle leaving the bevel at the tip more obtuse and “apple seed” shaped creating a stronger point than a normal version of this item would have. I would be curious if anyone else has received a blade in this condition, I assume the quality control person at the factory was hung over and or drunk that day. It happens to the best of us.

After taking a green kitchen scrubber to it to get the pine sap off the blade, it wore through almost completely. Normally this would be a significant issue for me, but given the price point of the knife, I can accept it. -Blade, particularly edge, grind. I tend to rate products on a cost-driven curve, so keep that in mind when reading. I went with three stars simply due to what I view as the relatively low price paid for the product.

I typically build small camp fires, and because it doesn't really have a full tang, I wasn't about to do any batoning with it. For what I do with it, it's great. Do not expect this knife to be an all-around knife for your camping and fire building adventures. This is NOT a heavy-duty knife
