You might not even fully realize just how much you want a ski like this. For high-volume ski touring, steep-and-rowdy firm-snow ski mountaineering, and work-week, headlamp exercise skinning, a lightweight set-up based on the K2 WayBack 80 is just the ticket. The featherweight construction flies uphill. The narrow and stiff construction grabs on the steeps but gets bucked around in tougher snow. 
This is a specialized tool. You won't pick these for day-to-day backcountry skiing. Deep, perfect powder snow is enjoyable, but bigger guns will be even more fun. Any sort of poor snow &#40;breakable crust? Slop?&#41; is better handled by a bigger and heavier option. All small skis are under-equipped for tough snow, but the K2 does better than most. It is this ski's more forgiving tough-snow performance that edges it ahead of other close competitors.

Obviously I won't be taking these out for powder laps but for long/fast and/or late season missions this is a great choice at a great price. Match them with a race binding (I mounted a Plum 150), light boots and race skins and you'll have a setup you won&#39;t mind hiking with to find snow in mid summer.

I got these for late spring/summer use and couldn't be happier. They are very light but can still be skied hard. I have found they shine on steep icy slopes (skied bulletproof on Temple SW) and they handle those horrible summer sun cups just fine. Compared to the Waybacks 88s I find they are a bit less grabby in breakable crusts and easier to control on steep ice

 If you're skiing area like Tahoe this very well could be a wider one ski quiver or a narrower one ski quiver depending on which end you're coming from. Now we were also really fortunate when we got to test this new ski and going back to the previous incarnation of ski the Escaper we had skied that before but we had tested that actually with Rossignol older demo binding which was the Look Connect binding which actually was a really tall binding and that when you put that on this 94 millimeter ski I thought neutered the ski a little bit. Now we've skiing now with their new Metrix binding which actually is a really good binding to put on this as a test binding because it's lower to the deck of the ski which makes that wider ski more reactive but what Rossignol and Look did with this new binding is where a lot of the demo bindings are very quick adjustments on them would just use your fingers this one actually is a worm screw on it so it gives you a really solid coupling as far as your boot connected to the ski and I really think it made a difference when we got to test this new ski and it shows how that ski is going to react more for you as the consumer with if you want to put a look pivot on it you want to put the regular SPX binding on or whatever your other binding of choice might be so we are definitely fortunate I thought we really got a little more out of the ski with this binding on it then when we tested the Escaper. Yeah I think I think this lower deck height a lot of the demo bindings there a lot of them are coming down in their deck height yeah but a lot of the older ones that we had they were tall and you can really feel that especially on the wider skis where getting them over you missed some of the capability of the ski that the binding was eating no I agree with you these bindings are gonna give you a more true feel as a tester and reviewer to what the production binding would be so you as a customer are getting a more what the ski is doing as opposed to what the binding may be taking away yeah no I agree with you so it comes down to who's the ski for I think technical off-piste skiers are really gonna benefit from this ski and again it gets into that turn shape and having that stronger tail this ski I think really rewards a really good skier as far as who might not benefit from it maybe somebody who's a tail pusher slides a tail around I mean you're gonna find that tail to bite a little bit and kind of bring you into the turn that could be good or that could be bad again it depends what you're looking for in a ski so anything else to add Andy I don't think so I think that about covers it so skiing is fun to read the full review of this ski please go to ski-talk

 I mean we've got a 128 in the tip and a 118 in the tail. That means there's only 10 millimeters of taper in the ski. What that means to you as a reader and what you might be looking for a ski is this ski is gonna really finish the turn nicely. Where a lot of the skis in this range have anywhere from 15 to even 20 millimeters of taper in when you get into more taper in the ski that ski that tail is gonna wash out a little bit

 It's not a one turn pony so to speak. Now to your point on it that's where I'll jokingly say as far as for the shape of the ski it's party in the front business in the rear. Right. And a lot of it really has to do also with the dimensions of the ski

 Hi this is Phil and Andy from SkiTalk.com and let's talk about the Rossignol Sender

 94Ti. Dimensions on the Sender are 128-94-118 in our 178 here with a 19 meter radius. Lens

 available can range anywhere from a 156 to a 186. And the Sender 94Ti is the entry level in the

 adult Sender collection. They do offer a Sender 90Ti but that really is geared more towards the

 tweener skier. So Andy, I know you've spent a lot of time on this ski. What are your impressions of

 it? I really like it. It's very versatile and sometimes I get fooled when I first look at a

 ski and I looked at the long rise on the tip of this thought maybe it's not gonna carve so well,

 maybe it's gonna be a one-trick pony as far as you know only being able to do certain things. But

 then you look at the tail and the tail is relatively flat compared to the tip. So it's

 really easy to initiate whether you're on hard pack or in snow but it has the power in the tail
