You might not even fully realize just how much you want a ski like this. For high-volume ski touring, steep-and-rowdy firm-snow ski mountaineering, and work-week, headlamp exercise skinning, a lightweight set-up based on the K2 WayBack 80 is just the ticket. The featherweight construction flies uphill. The narrow and stiff construction grabs on the steeps but gets bucked around in tougher snow. 
This is a specialized tool. You won't pick these for day-to-day backcountry skiing. Deep, perfect powder snow is enjoyable, but bigger guns will be even more fun. Any sort of poor snow &#40;breakable crust? Slop?&#41; is better handled by a bigger and heavier option. All small skis are under-equipped for tough snow, but the K2 does better than most. It is this ski's more forgiving tough-snow performance that edges it ahead of other close competitors.

Obviously I won't be taking these out for powder laps but for long/fast and/or late season missions this is a great choice at a great price. Match them with a race binding (I mounted a Plum 150), light boots and race skins and you'll have a setup you won&#39;t mind hiking with to find snow in mid summer.

I got these for late spring/summer use and couldn't be happier. They are very light but can still be skied hard. I have found they shine on steep icy slopes (skied bulletproof on Temple SW) and they handle those horrible summer sun cups just fine. Compared to the Waybacks 88s I find they are a bit less grabby in breakable crusts and easier to control on steep ice

 I would definitely say for most people the Sender is definitely where it's at and the Sender TI is for those few people that need a really, really burly ski and that wouldn't be me and actually most of my colleagues that skied as well and some big aggressive guys that I ski with were also saying actually they preferred this so just something we can chat about if you need some more advice we can talk you through the differences and just guide you to the right one from the two models. Also length, everyone always asks us about what ski length to go for, it is the number one asked question and the best thing to do is just to get in touch with us and we can give you some tailored advice because it depends on your weight, your height, your aggression level and what you're used to skiing as well. It also depends massively on the model of ski as well so we can help you with that so get in touch but yeah Sender, Black Ops Sender, lovely ski, lightweight, nice and stable, 100 underfoot, it's going to be really good in the powder and sort of everything between soft snow conditions and deep fluffy powder.

Now what they've done here, the guys have taken the line control technology so also known as LCT which is in some of their race skis and they've brought it around in some of their piece skis and that's a line that runs through a metal laminate that runs through the ski mounted vertically through the ski to help give it stability and suck up vibrations and that has been adapted to this and on the wider skis they've actually got two channels of material running through the ski and again it's to try and keep the stability and to suck up vibrations which is really, really important when you're skiing in terrain that's chopped up, in powder, you don't know what's underneath your feet, you want your ski not to be sort of rebounding or flapping or over the place or chattering and and that's definitely what we found with this is it felt smooth, responsive, reliable. We did try out the Sender TI as well, there's a TI version of this which is basically very similar, it's just got some titanium in it to beef it up and the feedback from myself and actually from more aggressive skiers than me was that actually the trade-off, the extra weight to get, how shall I put it, it was heavier and it felt much stiffer underfoot and we felt that actually the lighter version, this version, had enough sort of packing a punch underneath the foot that really only the most aggressive skiers would need to move up to the TI version

 and I'm going to talk to you today about a fantastic ski from Rossignol, the Black Ops Sender.

 The Black Ops range is something that's always been sort of under the radar from Rossignol,

 they've done limited releases or just, you know, not out there in the public eye too much

 and now they've sort of put it at the forefront of their range, replacing what was there,

 their sort of sole range of skis, their sole sevens etc that have been very, very popular

 and they've moved some of that tech across there so this kind of replaces that kind of ski but it

 also takes it to a new level. It's 100mm underfoot, it's got your standard sort of like

 camber with rocker on the tip and a bit of rocker on the tail, ideal for all kind of someone who's

 seeking out to get an off-piste, freeriding, wants to enjoy the backcountry as much as possible but,

 you know, let's face it that isn't always possible so you want something that's going to be able to

 ski around the piste as well. I really like Rossignol's air tip, it's something they've had

 through a lot of their range, even variations of it on some of their sort of all mountain skis as

 well but it makes it really, really super light. They're one of the first people to have this,
