Uh hmmm, if one is going to spend this much $800 US for unpowered speakers that Will be influenced by power input, consider powered professional quality studio monitors.  I’ve owned discreet components and monitors from JBL (now Samsung), Magneplanar and heralded Unity Audio. I love my Sony speakers, the same ones you have here, plus the matching Sony Centre channel. Personally I'm happy. Considering I'm broke, I don't know how much better the more expensive ones would have been for me at the end of the day really.

Just out if curiosity, have you tested any oh the HSU research speakers? I've only ever seen standalone reviews of them, not side by side.

Budget 5.25” speaker battle revisited! After spending some more time with all of these, my perspective has changed a little. Any thoughts on which ones you think would be your favorites? I’ll give my opinion after I get some of you to chime in.

  Also, I was upset that Amazon did not double box these speakers. They shipped in the JBL product box only, and the box arrived moderately damaged by UPS, with a gaping large hole in the corner, and one speaker corner exposed! Luckily, the speakers themselves were not (apparently) damaged. SHAME on Amazon for not double-boxing these speakers!  Lastly, I listen with the grilles off, and with the included contoured horn fittings in place. To me, these speakers look like a work of art! Unique and gorgeous, to say the least

The media could not be loaded. I recently read all the positive online reviews of the JBL Studio 530, and couldn't wait for the price to come down more. I just HAD to have a pair of true horn-loaded speakers in my stable, having lusted over these for weeks! I could tell there was something special about these speakers, just by some of the passionate reviews, as well as the British 'WhatHiFi' magazine 5 star review (I also considered the DALI Zensor 1 or Zensor 3). I am a stereo equipment and music junkie/audiophile, with 7 stereo systems currently hooked up throughout my modest home (I know, i'm nuts!), often interchanging equipment and speakers amassed over the years to experiment with sound

 This was about a year ago. I'm only up to the E's so far, but oh what a pleasure to be immersed in the glorious sound emanating forth from these wondrous horn-loaded speakers! I've been driving them with both solid state as well as tubed amplification (I change back and forth from time to time as an obsessed audiophile), and the sound is truly high-end. Timbral accuracy, detail, sound attack and decay, well balanced, tight bass, air.

 SHAME on Amazon for not double-boxing these speakers!  Lastly, I listen with the grilles off, and with the included contoured horn fittings in place. To me, these speakers look like a work of art! Unique and gorgeous, to say the least. I noticed that the grilles have the JBL logo, but when they're off, there is no way to tell the brand. I wish JBL would have provided a nice quality (perhaps thin metal) stick-on of their JBL logo to put in that small recessed area on the bottom of the 530's

These are fine instruments, not speakers!  Very lively, detailed, paced, and timbrally accurate sound.  Gorgeous to behold too!

  These are exciting speakers to play and they really suck you in. I have Usher, PSB and NHT here and I like these a lot. Sound quality compares well with the NHT Classic 3 overall which were once called the best speakers under a thousand dollars. At the price difference I strongly favor the JBLs and the very tight bass helps make these speakers way more exciting and fun than the NHT

 Then British site WhatHiFi gave it 5 stars and described the speaker as great fun. I have to agree.  Horn loaded speaker such as inexpensive Klipsch speakers are often harsh and fatiguing. These speakers are very smooth with great detail, superbly tight bass and present very balanced overall

 The horn tweeters on the Studio 5 series are marvels. Although there is a rising high frequency with these speakers it is very well managed with slight toe-in.  These are exciting speakers to play and they really suck you in. I have Usher, PSB and NHT here and I like these a lot

No audition needed. JBL take a bow!

 Powering these with a Pioneer Elite SC-65, in pure direct mode they sound amazingly good. Haven't done any room correction yet with the receiver, as I am waiting for my new subwoofer and to bi-amp (controversial I know) them.  They look far nicer in person than pictures show. I have them sitting atop a set of Sanus 24" speakers stands

 The height is perfect and my wife likes the look of these far better than the old Yahama towers these replaced.

Did a lot of research on these on a major audio/video forums, and read the reviews here on Amazon. These truly do sound better than their price bracket would indicate. Powering these with a Pioneer Elite SC-65, in pure direct mode they sound amazingly good.  I would say that the RP 600m are for listeners who prioritize clarity and dynamics of refinement, [ Music ]. So the RP 600m is not a base monster of a speaker which I really like, because that makes them more front wall friendly. I can push these close to the front wall if I want to, if I need a little bit more weight from the sound, and I don't find the eel acts quite as flexible in that respect, these have more bass out of the gate. I think they got a bit lower, they're, more impactful in the low-end in this of a pendulous way, but these for me, I'm gon na, say in my room 6 meters by 5 meters

 They call it spun, copper. This is a mid bass driver. Here you can tap it. You can probably hear the noise

 But if I just tow them out slightly the sound stage really widens, I mean far more than you probably expect from a small move like that, and also the treble smooths off quite nicely not on the treble is coarse. But it just sounds a lot more mature and more refined, maybe a little bit richer too. Maybe don't know, but in messing around with touring of these clips, I discover that they don't image quite as well as the elac. They don't paint that soundstage with the specificity that I like, not quite as they're, not quite as good as you like in that respect

 I'M not trying to take anything away from the ELAC, I'm just trying to say that the clips is a more agreeable loudspeaker for a broader range of amplifiers [, Music ]. So normally I have them fired pretty much at me at the listening position here. But if I just tow them out slightly the sound stage really widens, I mean far more than you probably expect from a small move like that, and also the treble smooths off quite nicely not on the treble is coarse. But it just sounds a lot more mature and more refined, maybe a little bit richer too

Klipsch RP-600M: Reviewed!

The only downside I find with them is that while they sound amazing in the sweet listening spot, they lose a bit of magic when I'm moving and doing stuff around the room. I don't know what exactly contributes to this, it could as well be my room as it's probably not perfect acoustically. Though for a small, 50 sq meter apartment, I'm very happy with how it all turned out.

The AMT tweeter is absolutely stunning (example track [DWIG - Little Boy]([URL REMOVED] but the real star of the show is the soft dome mid-range driver. Where Klipsch were lacking the most for me, Wharfedales deliver extraordinarily.

Got the Wharfedales in March after first auditing Klipsch 600M, which are generally nice, but for my taste just too bright. Evos need some time to run in, but I have to say I'm very happy with them - great imaging and wide sound stage, while keeping the sound laid back and not tiring after even a day worth of listening to music - which I often do.

Rearranged the room and upgraded the system with new speakers - Wharfedale Evo 4.2

 They do rock  Cons:  1. In a direct comparison with Tekton Lores (comparable price), SVS Ultras and a pair of relatively cheap NHT SuperOnes, they are much less resolving in the highs and mids. Granted, the Tektons can be fatiguing. The NHTs and SVSs are not fatiguing at all

 This is probably due to to the port tuning. I’m generally not a fan of bass reflex speakers, but modern designs are very good. The Tektons were exceptional in that respect and the SVS Bookshelves excellent as well. The NHTs are a sealed design and very firm and controlled, if rolled off a bit

 2. The bass is a bit muddy and uncontrolled. This is probably due to to the port tuning. I’m generally not a fan of bass reflex speakers, but modern designs are very good

 For the price, they are very good, but there are better for a few more dollars. I would much prefer the Tekton M-Lore at the price. They are just as sensitive too. Also, the NHT SuperOne, while not as efficient (they require real horsepower - 50w or more) sound better at $200 for the pair

ELAC's Debut Reference and Uni-Fi's are both around there, and highly regarded. As is the Klipsch RP-600M (and the old version of it, the RP-160M is still available at almost half that price on clearance a lot of places.)

My first proper audio setup done during the lockdown

 600 mm: I just think that the extension past that getting into air, in extension, it's a bit over the top now, as we start traveling down into the fundamental hits of the cymbals, I really have nothing to complain about. I think it sounds fine. I don't know exactly what frequencies were actually pulling out and talking about when we start talking about those fundamental hits, but I was noticing, as I was making my way through a lot of different types of music, again percussive stuff. The initial attack and the initial hit is totally fine
