I bought my Roomba i7+ 2 years ago. A few months back she started giving me an error 16.

 For the exorbitant price I paid for the iRobot, I would expect it to exceed the cleaning performance of my other lower priced robot vacuums. I did not expect it to get stuck constantly, to have as many errors and stoppages, nor did I expect it to go offline as much as it does. I did a lot of research. All the claims were that it had superior cleaning capability

 I have more problems with the iRobot getting stuck and having errors, then with my other robot vacuums. This brand was hyped to be a superior cleaning machine over other brands. That is not the case! I overpaid for a robot vacuum that doesn't work any better than my other robot vacuums. It does not exceed them by a long shot

This is a good robot vacuum, but overpriced. I have two pets a dog and a cat, and I dog sit other pups on the regular. I hate animal hair all over my floors and before I had robot vacuums I would vacuum twice a day. To make life easy, I have three robot vacuums

 I don't have to remember to empty the vacuum after every run. My other robot vacuums must be manually emptied. If I forget to empty the other vacuums they don't clean as well, and when I finally do empty them they're so packed full that the debris falls out when removing the dustbin which causes a mess. Bottom line: is this a good robot vacuum? Yes

 After the first segment (battery depleted) it has at least returned the base to the correct location. I still haven't gotten a response from my emails to customer support that started on 12/5/2020. I've had to add some physical barriers in front of several pieces of furniture and a treadmill to keep the roomba from getting underneath because it gets stuck about half of the time (those old college text books finally came in handy for something. I've also used a baseball bat and the old extension tubes for my central vac that I'm hoping I won't need again

 Update 12/22/2020 The replacement arrived on time. The next day I started mapping runs. It took 3 five hour mapping sessions (including charging time) to generate a complete map so I don't consider the mapping to have been any smoother than the first two but at least this one appears to be accurate. I've started a couple of small cleaning jobs and the roomba seems to be performing as requested with one minor annoyance

 Unfortunately, the map will have to be generated again (third time) but he assures me it will be a much smoother process this time. If so, I expect to give it 4 stars. It's not getting 5 stars until I can more easily generate a map and they can allow indefinite (or at least 24 hour) job delays so I can suspend cleaning overnight and have it pick up where it left off the next. So far cleaning has been adequate but could be better; I assume the "better" would come from the S9 with its greater suction

Didn't work (initially) in my large house.  Replacement worked.

 You can tell iRobot put a lot of effort into this. So I did the mapping run then followed with a "vacuum everywhere" run, no virtual barriers yet. Not only was the robot able to navigate my entire floor cleaning everything, it didn't get stuck once, even under the kitchen cabinets or dining room chairs, truly impressive. It did need a charge in the middle but at an hour or so to top up, the cleaning process completes in a much more reasonable time period

 Also important to note is that the N8 will want to recharge at 15% battery, so the most you ever really get out of this thing is 85%. The next big problem for me was the design of the auto-empty base. They opted to use a dual port discharge method that sucks from 2 doors in the dust bin simultaneously. I was prompted with a firmware update right away so let that run and waited until the next day to do the initial mapping run

 All the areas the N8 falls short work as intended or better on the i7, despite being lower tech. And this is after I was almost positive I wouldn't buy another Roomba!  i7 Pros: -Competitive price -Premium look and feel -Systematic cleaning pattern -Free in-box extras (1 bag, filter, rotating brush) -Excellent battery and charging performance -Excellent auto-empty base -ZERO issue with long pet hair -Intuitive and granular control via the app (clean zones, no go zones, defined rooms that can be scheduled) -Smart Maps works really well  i7 Cons: -Old school vSLAM bump sensor tech that will mar the more stuff it bumps into -RCON sensor sits in harms way atop the bumper -Single rotating brush could be improved -Room lighting is required, this thing doesn't do well in the dark -No variable speed motor = higher noise, about the same as my 960

 The robot functions very well in general and is a very good vacuum, all told. The downsides that I experienced, however, were enough for me to return it. The key cons here are battery life, recharge time, the auto-empty base and getting stuck. Your first step with the N8 is the initial mapping of your floorplan which must be completed fully before you can do anything, I mean anything

 I love the fact that it notifies you each time a job is completed. No more guessing what was cleaned and what wasn't. In my opinion the Roomba I7+ is almost there but needs some adjustments. For the money spent on it I think it would be worth it but for the noise it makes while cleaning

  1. It is very loud when cleaning. As both my wife and I work from home I quickly learned that it can not be run during the day because it is just too loud and distracting. I also found that I couldn't run it in the evenings as it made TV watching unbearable

 I don't believe it picks up as well as my other one because when I compare what I use to clean out of the other ones dustbin with what I see in the bag of the Roomba it just doesn't seem as much. Plus I know our socks are picking up more dog hair than in the past because I see it on our couches and ottomans now. I can tell it does just as well with hair on tile as my old one but not so well on carpet or rugs.  4

I read many, many reviews before I invested in this item, as it was a lot of money to spend, and sometimes a couple of bad reviews make you not want to purchase something. I finally decided to take a chance and purchase the vacuum, and I am glad I did. I’ve had it for a week now, and it has mapped all of the areas in my house I want it to clean. We have 4 children, and I can never count on their rooms being picked up enough to send this in there

 I am extremely happy with it. It is helping me tremendously keeping the house picked up. We have 3 cats and 1 dog who constantly sheds. My biggest concern with these robot vacuums was vacuuming my living room and then it needing me to empty it before it would continue

 When it empties it sounds like a mini jet engine starting up. Probably no louder than your average vacuum, but that is something to consider if you plan on only running it overnight. I hope we don’t experience any issues, but if we do, I did purchase the 3 year extended warranty on Amazon. It was by far the best deal when I compared other retailer’s warranties, so for the next 4 years I have zero worries if it does breakdown

 I love the mapping feature and it’s ease of use. It mapped my laundry room and dining room as one area. My dining area is always picked up, my laundry room is not. It was very simple to add a divider on the map to make that one area, two areas, and I can tell it to stay out of the laundry room when I know there’s a mountain of laundry on the floor

The Roborock S7 MaxV is the best robot vacuum we've tested. This high-end robot vacuum has a dual-sensor navigation system, which uses LIDAR in conjunction with a pair of cameras with 3D scanning capability to identify and avoid common hazards like power cords, furniture legs, or even pet waste in real-time. You can also use it to monitor things at home while you're away by looking through the camera. It can also identify the type of room it's in based on the furniture and automatically suggest different cleaning modes for distinct areas, like bedrooms, kitchens, or bathrooms. It performs remarkably well on bare floors and does an okay job cleaning carpets.

While this vacuum is fully compatible with Roborock&rsquo;s Empty Wash Fill dock, which further helps reduce hands-on maintenance needs by automatically emptying its dustbin, refilling its water reservoir, and washing its mopping pads, it's a pretty expensive additional accessory. It also does a terrible job of sealing fine allergens, even with a high-efficiency E11 filter.

It's fully compatible with Roborock's Empty Wash Fill Dock, which not only empties its dustbin but washes its mop pads and refills the onboard water tank. However, this base station is expensive and pushes this vacuum into an even higher price bracket. Although it has a high-efficiency E11 filter, it does a terrible job of sealing in fine allergens like pet dander while cleaning, which can be ejected straight out of its exhaust.

Roborock is much newer to the vacuum market than most other brands on this list. This Chinese manufacturer has been around for less than a decade and only produces robot vacuums and mops. Some of their products are hybrid robot vacuum mops, which can tackle spills like water and dry debris like cereal and sand. Although we don't currently test a vacuum's ability to clean liquid, their vacuums still offer exceptional performance in picking up dry debris on bare floors. They also tend to be very well-built and have great maneuverability to clean under tables and chairs. Unfortunately, like many other robot vacuum brands, their products have demanding maintenance needs, and many parts need replacing over time.

The best Roborock vacuum we've tested is the Roborock S7 MaxV. This high-end robot vacuum uses a LIDAR sensor array to generate a map of its coverage area as well as front-facing cameras to spot, identify, and avoid obstacles like pet waste in real-time. Its ultrasonic mopping system uses vibrating mop pads to scrub away dried-on dirt or debris, while its surface detection system lets it lift these mopping pads when it maneuvers onto carpeted floors. It's fully compatible with Roborock's Empty Wash Fill Dock, which empties its dustbin, refills its water tank from an external reservoir, and washes its mop pads. However, this docking station is quite pricey.
