In a weird shaped room like a hallway or around furniture legs, it is ponderous and feels like it runs over the same spot again and again. In a big room it makes neat, straight, long lines. For a robot that only knows where it has been by using a tiny sensor on the bottom and the front bumper, it performs remarkably well. Not nearly as well as a LIDAR or camera robot but my wife has privacy concerns about having a live camera in the house so we aren't buying any more intelligent of a Roomba

I’m currently trial running several auto-empty vacs for our upstairs which has our 4 bedrooms and all carpet. Currently a few weeks into the Roomba S9+ with empty bin and let me just say… while it does a good job picking up on our low rise carpet, the app and technology feels about 5 years behind the Roborock tech and app. If anyone cares about specifics feel free to ask but I’m constantly surprised how poor the app and tech work. Ghost rooms, connection failures, inaccurate post run results… considering how long iRobot has been in the game I’m just really surprised it’s this far behind

- Flic buttons (or some other 3rd party) to allow people in the house to control things without needing to remember obscure routine names.

Vacuums with this feature typically cost around $1,000, however, which is a lot more than most people are able or willing to spend. That makes the Roomba i3+ EVO especially appealing; at $549.99, it's iRobot's most affordable model with a self-emptying dustbin. Its battery life isn't spectacular and its smart mapping capabilities are limited to a single floor, but depending on your needs and budget, it might be the right model for you

For the price it is a HUGE waste of money. Do your self a favor and buy a cheaper one. Hopefully the quality hasn't gone down on them.

I bought the aftermarket ones from Amazon too and found them WAY too noisy so I bought the iRobot ones. Unfortunately, they're still noisier than the disposable ones but slightly less noisy than amazon brand. I think the noise comes from the vibration of the plastic card with the braava. I'm thinking of adding some thin fabric to see if it'll make a difference

I don’t recall the error code but it was common with many S9+ that were released around Christmas 2020 but whatever it was, when that error struck, your Roomba was dead. You’d expect better from a $1K machine. Whatever the case, in the 2 days it worked, it was ridiculously loud compared to the s7, was the rudest little bugger ever (pushing chairs out of the way, knocking things over), and it did a half-ass job cleaning things.

However, it never even was able to fully map my house because it would get stuck on the low pile rug constantly. Kind of defeats the purpose of being able to turn it on and not having to worry. I would have kept it if it cost $100.

If I try to mechanically / physically raise the spring contacts, I risk breaking them and making it all the worse. Those should be able and EASY to replace, without needing to disassemble the whole vacuum.

When I finally started to use it, the map features were nice, the suction was good (two dogs in our home), and it wasn’t too loud. However, overall, I prefer my other vacuum as the map is in real time and it’s more user-friendly and has fewer errors and issues.

Even though the area was completely clear. The problem is due to the lower clearance from the upgraded suction unit, the edge brush get's deformed and smacks the bumper and screws up the sensors. One could probably modify the brush, but I didn't want to deal with it. iRobot says the s9 has 4x the suction of other Roombas, I don't doubt this

The Roombas well-designed and well built. The I3 certainly has a more powerful suction than the Model 650 and it does well traversing between our area rugs, hardwood and tile. Somehow, the I3 seems less attracted to charging cords and rug fringes than Ruby was. OCD types will be thrilled by the straight-line navigation of I3

The Roomba 960 does that just fine, as does the RoboRock S6 Pure (which I also got after returning this). So IMO there is no legitimate excuse for this fundamentally flawed mechanical design of the Roomba S9.

I have had this vacuum for less than 2 years and have had nothing but problems with it. The self extraction stopped working and then would work on and off for several months and now I am getting en error message that the filter is clogged even though I've replaced it as well as the rollers. The customer support has been nothing but helpful, but definitely did not expect to be having to replace moat of the Robot at this early in the game. Hope your newer models are better

I used to be able to vacuum off the filter more easily because the dirt was not all wedged into the folds of the filter. The new Roomba filter does not have this mesh, so it's going to need to be replaced more frequently. I am hoping that they decide to add the mesh to this filter in the future.

Considering the glut of off market replacement options and how well these cheaper alternatives seem to perform/review, iRobot should seriously consider making replacement parts (like filters) either reusable or competitive with alternatives. Overall, 5/5 based on my tempered expectations of what these things would actually get done. Quite satisfied with it's performance so far. Looking forward to upgrading to an i7 (or the equivalent of that) in the future

I like the fact that I can program when and where it cleans. The only thing I don't like is cleaning the filter as the dust flies everywhere when it is tapped against the waste receptacle.

The automatic dirt disposal feature worked perfectly, successfully sucking the contents of the robot's dustbin into the AllergenLock bag. The robot automatically empties its bin after docking, but there's also a button in the app that lets you do it any time. When it's emptying the bin, the blower is pretty loud for 30 seconds or so—about the volume of an old-school standing vacuum. After several full test runs, I checked the bin and it was completely empty

This robot vacuum has improved in many areas. Great suction, flawless operation (most of the time), and wonderful battery longevity. Sadly, it has regressed in others. Namely, the filtration system; why have they decided to sacrifice the pre-filter mesh and opt for more frequent cleaning and ultimately filter replacements
