 As for Watchdogs Legion, the anti-cheat software that they use actually refused to let the game even launch while only on the E-cores with one peak or active. Actually, both that happened on both this I5 and the I9 with eight E cores. so it's not an immediate thread problem, but it's still refused to even run in either configuration. The P-cores actually dropped a touch of performance compared to the stock results, although again, it's hardly by a large fall and still well clear of anything else I've tested

 Performance is meant to be generally less than ideal, so to get the most out of your new chip, you will need to spend over double the price of Ddr4 to get yourself some shiny new Ddr5 like the Corsair Vengeance kids I've been using in a lot of my testing. Luckily, the power draw isn't quite as insane as it is on the I9, and while it can still draw around 70 percent more power than a 5600 X, it's still generally low enough that most 240 ml Ios that you may or may not be already buying should handle it just fine. So taking the the added cost of the motherboard alone, you're easily comparing price-wise to a 5800 X instead. And if you go for Ddr5, well, then you're comparing to a 5900x instead

 around 36 watts for the whole chip when you compare that to the 10 100, which in my previous testing drew just 46 watts at peak. Well, that's only around 30 higher, but the I3 offers 50 more performance. Conceivably, then, an underclocked I3 could actually match the power usage of the E-cores and still outperform them. Of course, space efficiency is also key with this design, but I think that that's an interesting comparison nonetheless

 Its score is still down from the 12 900 K thanks to no Turbo Boost 3.0 support and lower peak clock speeds across the board, but it's still a convincing lead so far in multithreaded both thanks to that faster single core performance and those extra E cores, the 12 600k trounces pretty much everything. It's 800 points clear of, even the 5800x or about 15 percent faster, and a whopping 60 faster than the six core parts. That is an excellent lead for sure, but what's more impressive is adding in the rest of the chips I've tested and you'll notice that the 12 600k actually sits on top of both the last Gen I9 11900k and the I9 10 K from before

Intel i9 12900K in blender test (230W) reached 90C with the top performing Noctua NHD15 cooler. In gaming it only reached mid ~65C.

In general faster in gaming, especially CPU bound titles like CSGO, but Forza Horizon 4 and Far Cry 6 also showed improvement.

Power consumption is very high on i9 consuming 230W+ on continuous blender render, while competing Ryzen 5950x was ~140W. However in Gaming, i9 stays at 125W (lower than Ryzen).

 Hopefully after this crypto boom I’ll be able to snag a ryzen 5th gen combo for cheap. My intel can fix this but it will be years before this happens. They are too busy playing catch up. The power efficiency is terrible and the whole experience is about as bad as it gets

 Save yourself a headache and get something comparable like a 3700x or better. This is not worth the price or painful install procedures. I just thought it was ridiculous coming from intel, didnt they create the PCs we know of today??? Did i mention the bios was cuttoff on left and right edges so you cant read the functions??? I’m surprised Intel engineers released this, more of a sample than a final product. Buy something else, did i mention the cheapest motherboard sets you back around $200, so $500 into this ordeal is not a good experience, could have purchased 2 sets of used ryzen 7 8 core cpus and motherboard for the same money and ultimately gotten more performance in power usage and cpu

No support for deepcool heatsinks, wasted time modifying it to fit, (it does work, but wasted a couple hours on a process that should take 5-10 minutes). I have never had so much trouble get a cpu to run in linux. Good grief, I’m a computer expert by trade, and intel should have waited to release this series. I know the competition is tough, but I definitely wont go and buy another one of these

 I had to install a new elilo version to get the efi to work. What can i say the performance is good, but runs hot 120 watts at the cpu when doing multithreaded task like compiling the kernel. It does that fast but Ryzen 12 core does it faster and with less power 95watts. It’s hard to say this was an upgrade, my head hurts whenever an issue comes up with this cpu

UserBenchmark favors intel for some reason. They would have you believe the 12600k is around 20% better than the 5600x, but watch CPU reviews on Youtube and you'll see individual gaming benchmarks puts them at the same performance but with the 5600x using half the power consumption. Additionally, the motherboards for the 12600k can cost over twice as much as that of the 5600x ones.  It basically just makes more sense to go with the 5600x at the time of this review, because both CPUs are the same price of $300

The 12600k is not a bad CPU, it's just that the 5600x is considerably more affordable and efficient for the same performance as the 12600k.

Don't trust UserBenchmark

 here. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is pretty heavily Gpu limited with these higher end cpus, despite the fact that we're testing at 1080p with an extremely fast graphics card using the second highest quality preset. but I do feel that results like these are important to include because despite the unrealistic test conditions that aim to highlight cpu performance, we find the game is still very much Gpu limited. And this is important to note as the vast majority of games out there will be Gpu limited, especially when using a relatively powerful cpu

 Stock memory support, though does include either 3200 or Ddr5 4800. And recently I looked at Ddr5 6000 performance with the Core I9 12900k and found that for the most part, this new high speed memory offers very little in the way of extra performance when paired with an outer leg cpu. And this led me to conclude that for just about all potential 12th Gen customers, they should ignore Ddr5 and just go with Ddr4. That being the case, I'm not going to invest time testing the 12600k Ddr5 memory, given the memory itself costs more than the Cpu

 In fact, it does even better relative to its nearest competitor, the 5600x. Worst case, the 12600k was only slightly faster than the 5600x in single and multi-core workloads, but it was often much faster and the performance improvement offset the extra power usage. So power consumption isn't an issue for the 12600k, and it's certainly not crazy. Any cooler capable of keeping the 11, 600k or 5800x in check will work just fine with the 12600k

 then. When it comes to gaming, the 12600k and 5600x are very evenly matched, especially in modern games that utilize many cores. Where the 12600k has a real advantage, though, is for older games like what we actually saw in Age of Empires 4, that really only tacks a single core. Here, the superior single core performance of Elder Lake is put on full display, boosting frame rates by around 20 again, as seen in Age of Empires 4

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X decent for a 3060ti?

I decided on the i5 12600k as the price to performance is good, and probably the bestoption to pair with my 3070 with no bottle necks, if you have a 3080 or higher I feel the i7 might be a better option and push even more from it.

I decided to finally upgrade my aging system after my old motherboard would only recognise one stick of ram and performance was compromised with lots of crashes and memory issues, although the pc did serve me well. I'm coming from a i5 7600k previous build. After securing a 3070 gigabyte vision this year I decided to improve the entire build now that 12th gen Intel has arrived. 

I chose the msi edge z690 ddr4 as I feel the price of ddr5 is currently too much without little benefit currently. The board is great with an easy to use bios for simple overclocking. Selecting XMP profile 1 worked without an issue, running my memory at 3600mhz.

 My heatsink never gets too hot to touch with my bare hand in daily use. The only thing preventing my system from being a high performance gaming PC is the lack of dedicated GPU, but the internal GPU is more than enough for me to run four simultaneous instances of BlueStacks 5 to play my favorite mobile game, and fast enough to run Diablo III and EVE Online with medium settings.  The Core i5-12600K is roughly competitive in performance and price with the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X.

I run my system at -130 mV, with no overclocking, and CPU power consumption peaks at about 100 W, while idle CPU power consumption is less than 2W

 If you, if you guys gaming and doing streaming or any sort of video editing, i definitely recommend getting this one, because it's cheaper and the performance in games. If you go for the ryzen 5000 series, it's only 1080p, but if you go for 4k, uh, 4k or 1440p, the performance is kind of the same, so i'll definitely go for the ryzen 3700x. Now this is based on a seven nanometer uh. It produces less heat

 You know, given that the ps5 and the xbox have an eight core 3700x technically, but it's down clocked um definitely get one of these. I think it will make a big difference. I would not invest if people are trying to go for the sixth course of amd. Do not go for them because, in my opinion, the the higher call count you go the better it will be, and it will be more future proof so definitely get one of these guys, and i think it would be amazing and you just won't be disappointed
