The most current Instant Pot multicooker is a great, easy-to-use appliance. Its flat-bottomed interior pot allows for even searing. Stay-cool handles mean you can easily move the pot, even when it’s hot. The streamlined interface was easy to navigate. A “favorites” feature lets you save go-to recipes. It has a pressure-release switch that keeps your hand away from the hot steam when you vent the machine, and a diffuser on the vent makes the steam disperse slightly more gently. We liked that we could disable the “keep warm” function so that the food wouldn’t keep cooking once it was done. You can also program a timer to alert you after 5 or 10 minutes of natural pressure release, which saves you a trip back to the machine between cooking stages.  You can pull it off for cleaning. Just don't forget to put it back. the locking pin the anti-block shield which you can also pull off for cleaning. The steam release pipe is under the shield

 Now it's best to cover the pot at this point. You can use a regular pot cover like this not the instant pot lid. Tomatoes are done. Add a cup of water

 mix that well. You always want to add water first so it's in the bottom of the pot and it'll prevent it from burning. Add the chicken legs. I've put shallow slits in them and marinated them in spices

 It has a flat bottom and you can cook in this pot on the stovetop, electric, ceramic, gas, or induction. It's also oven safe to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. There are fill line markings so make sure to follow them. Don't go over the max fill line

This machine is a great multipurpose gadget. It can pressure cook, air fry, and slow cook. The one thing I noticed right away about the machine is it is big. I have another brand pressure cooker, so I was assuming it would be of similar size, but this one is much bigger

It does take a little longer than a smaller pressure cooker to come to pressure, I'm assuming because of it's size, but it cooks the same

 Slow Cooker Mode had a low, medium and high heat button. IP has a + and - sign to increase or decrease the time. Others you have to select a preset and keep pressing to increase, you can't decrease time. Overall ratings - IP 4

 Lots of issues with lids locking, not pressurizing etc and I really don't see this for the Instant Pot family of PCs.  **Sizing - I measured my crock pot which was 6 quart, so that's what I ordered. It's an OK size for 2 people, but since you can only fill it 2/3 full when cooking under pressure you should take that into consideration. I figure on a roast, I will do the meat first, then veggies

.need I say more? This piece of equipment is heavy duty, really well constructed and not cheap or flimsy at all. Better pick one up before the super bowl, if there is such a thing this season. Crispy wings and slow cooked chili!

 The second problem is the little plastic tab used to secure the pressure cooking lid to the air-fryer lid. I dropped the lid and the piece of plastic broke off rendering the pressure cooker unusable.  I called customer service because I had registered my warranty and they were marvelous. They are sending me a new pressure cooking lid

  I have used an Instant Pot for at least 5 years and will continue to do so. I love this product.

 That said, I have two problems with the overall design. First, the gasket on the pressure cooker lid is not removable; therefore, it retains the odor from its previous cook. The odor does not transfer a taste to the food, but it's unsettling to smell the last thing one cooked when using the device again

They asked me to write a review on their site, but I couldn't find a spot to do so, so I am writing a review here. I made it clear to Instant Pot that there is a design flaw in the new product that needs to be addressed

But here’s our beef: Every time we made chili using dried beans in pressure-cook mode, a “Food Burn” message appeared as the cooker was reaching pressure. We had to stop, stir the chili, close the lid, and let it reach pressure again. Instant Pot says the food-burn alert is a safety mechanism that stops heating to prevent food from burning, but it adds that this warning can also occur when cooking very starchy foods that settle at the bottom of the pot. To test the sous vide feature, we cooked chicken breasts for 3 hours; they were tender and delicious.

 Coming up, the pressure is going to release short bursts of steam. Here it has taken exactly 10 minutes to come up to pressure and you can see as it increases in pressure. A little bit of steam is going to be released and looks like that, and that's completely normal again, don't put it underneath the countertop or light that you want steam. You can also use this outside I've done that before it's the thought of releasing pressure like that

So you want to look what you put in: there is going to pretty much stay. One thing I was going to say was that a tough time to get stuck under pressure exactly and so about 25 minutes, all in all to do the water test and get yourself familiar with your new instant pot

 You would need a concealer to seal your meat if you're doing meat and what the instant pot will do will keep it at a consistent temperature similar. It says, as it does with the yogurt and then you can sear the meat after it's done to being at a certain temperature and supposed to come out like butter. I really want to try that out. I haven't haven't done it yet, but I would definitely do a video as soon as I do that and of course the screen comes out after about five seconds, which is kind of annoying

New Instant Pot Max Review/Overview and Water Test 2018

 It has a sleek look to it and it pressure cooks most things very well.  The ability to get to 15PSI is nice, but it doesn’t really shave that much off cook times, especially when you factor in the time it takes to warm up. It saves about 10% of time. That means for a 30-minute dish, you might save 3 minutes of cooking, but the extra heat-up time is going to take at least some of that

 I can’t stress enough how much I despise the electronic pressure release.  My advice: Get the Ultra. The Max isn’t worth it, especially at full price. I give the Max three stars, but I still do not recommend, and it’s all because of the stupid electronic pressure release

 It saves about 10% of time. That means for a 30-minute dish, you might save 3 minutes of cooking, but the extra heat-up time is going to take at least some of that. It certainly doesn’t command the premium price.  The lack of pre-programmed buttons is a little dumb, not that big of a deal to me

 It just means I have to remember how long to cook something, instead of simply pushing a button.  My biggest frustration, by far, is the electronic pressure release. Why they created that feature without adding the ability to program it to automatically release the pressure after a designated amount of time is beyond me. It’s just lazy engineering

Electronic Pressure Release is Awful

 It has a steam rack with handles, which makes it a lot easier to grab the rack from the pot. The Max even includes two silicon, claw-like mitts that you place on your hands so you don’t burn the crap out of yourself when grabbing the steaming rack.

 The Max pressure mode is supposed to decrease cooking times. However, it takes an exceptionally long time for the pot to reach max pressure. When compared side-by-side with the 6-quart Instant Pot Duo, the Max took longer to reach full pressure when making most recipes including frozen chicken, frozen ground beef, or frozen spinach dip. For instance, the Duo took 11 minutes to reach high pressure when making two pounds of frozen ground beef, while the max took 20 minutes to reach max pressure and 14 minutes to reach high pressure

The lid on the Max, while durable, doesn’t close as smoothly as it does on other Instant Pot models. It twists into place and there’s an indicator on the display to let you know that you’ve closed it properly, but it feels a bit “sticky” when you close it. It reminds me of an old car door that needs a bit of WD-40. Although this is a small thing, it’s definitely noticeable

 The 6-quart Max is heavy — heavier than the Duo or the Ultra. It feels sturdy, but it doesn’t feel so heavy that you’ll strain your back trying to lift it.

 It also has more safety mechanisms in place than the other Instant Pot models (13 safety mechanisms compared to 10 or 11 on the other models).

It does everything you can imagine, but the Instant Pot Max has one major flaw

 3. Larger capacity! My family may be growing soon and my teenage boys already have appetites that challenge many of my larger pots. The increased capacity of the IP Ultra 80 over the standard 6qt pressure cooker is just what I needed. And even if we don’t “grow” now I have room to entertain

 Pressure release valve and sealing system. Like early IPs, my other EPC had a pressure release valve that you had to handle. If you weren’t careful it could burn. Thankfully this never happened to me, but the IP Ultra is safer with the separate release
