The Imarku chef's knife is a decent all arounder that is a good introduction to Gyutou style knives. With less rocker than European-style chef's knives and typically thinner blades, it can take some adjusting to get used to working with Gyutou knives. This blade was a decent performer across the board but didn't truly excel at any one thing. As expected from this style of knife, it took to the more delicate knife work like julienning and chiffonades handily. Equipped with a beautiful wooden handle, this was one aesthetic knife for the price point. 
This knife's most significant shortcomings were apparent while trying to break down big and tough root vegetables and squashes. The knife struggled to push through sweet potatoes and butternut squashes. Once these veggies were broken down into smaller pieces, the blade had no trouble moving quickly to chop or dice them but getting to the point was a process. All in all, this is a well-rounded knife that is ideal for someone wanting to try a Gyutou style knife without breaking the bank.

 I mean drop a hair on it and it's sliced in two sharp. I just knocked out Thanksgiving dinner with it. It chopped all my veggies for dressing and carved the turkey with ease. Really a great tool and a long-overdue investment for my kitchen

Should have bought this years ago...A pretty good knife, but doesn't hold an edge so good...

 Even though I worked as a chef de cuisine for 30 years, it got me. But, a good sharp edge helps lessen the damage , so that’s a plus. Sleek, sexy, sharp and a wee bit dangerous

 Haven't used it seriously yet, but I wish I had it a couple days ago when breaking down a pork butt roast, with a dull Cutko. The wood is nice looking. I probably will edit this in a month or so after it gets some serious use. For the price, it's a steal

5 inch for a paring knife, not what was sent. Would Not recommend due to inaccurate description.

 The only thing is that the steel seems to be not very hard. It gets dinged up pretty easily unlike my shuns that take a beating and have never dinged in the 10 years I’ve had them. I doubt the hardness rating.  Good thing they aren’t expensive

 This is highly subjective. I like a beefy handle and I find it perfect. - knuckles don’t clear bottom when chopping. I do t have this issue

 The blade has enough meat on it's bones to be sturdy, but not so much as to feel heavy to use. The handle is gorgeous and ergonomic, though "pakkawood" simply seems to be laminated acrylic impregnated wood very much like the gunstocks that you can buy. I bought this to supplement the Fiery Phoenix set I bought as I prefer to have a chefs knife and this one very much fits the bill. I will update later if my impression changes for any reason, but so far I am very happy with this purchase as well as the set I bought

I did a lot of research before buying this knife and have owned one of these for a few years before ordering another one for my little brother as a graduation gift. The knife holds it's edge really well and is easy to clean. I haven't had any rust issues, but I do hand wash the knife instead of running it through the dish washer. The blade is not too heavy, but is strong
