None of the other stick vacuum managed to do this, although the Gtech AirRam came pretty close. (It cleaned up 90 percent on hardwood, 97 percent on mid-pile carpet, and 98 percent on low-pile carpet.) If you want your stick vacuum to regularly collect cereal or other large particles, the Hoover Linx is up to the task. Pet hair is another tough category that some vacuums handle much better than others

Can you believe it? Hoover is actually putting round pins into square holes. This is NUTS! No wonder there was a loose connection. A secure connection is impossible with this design. I received an email from an Amazon customer who stated, "I've lost control

I would avoid the Miele HX1, just because the bin design is a nightmare to maintain compared to that of the LG or Samsung, let alone the bagged system of the Hoover. There are parts that I like about the Miele models, but they are no worth the price that they ask for them with that bin design that seems to be straight out of the 2000s. The filter gets dirty almost instantly.

I don't like to have to charge the battery after about 15 minutes of use, and that's without using the brush attachment, which decreases battery life even more.

I get nowhere near the advertised 1h battery life. The suction is ok when you use the rotating brush attachment. But the caster wheels on that attachment make it clunky to use on hard surfaces like hardwood floors. I have a canister Miele vacuum and the hard wood attachment from that fits this vacuum, but then the suction alone isn't enough

I took apart the head, which is very easy to do, unclogged it, and cleared the brush. I also washed out the sponge filter at the top of the canister with a bit of dish soap, rinsed it well, and let it dry. I then took apart the rest of the vacuum, also easy, and cleared the bottom of the motor of silty dirt. The vacuum functions like new

This vac is a lot more convenient than my main vac and it does well for what I use it for, but it cannot compete for carpet cleaning.

UPDATE 11/13/13 Well another piece has broken. We had been working harmoniously without the beater bar on our hardwood since Spring, but now a piece of the red plastic insert on the inside of the canister broke so it will not stay snuggly attached while I am vacuuming. Without that piece on, all the hair and big chunks get sucked into the filter area. The brush bar on our 11 year old Dyson also broke last week, so I am trying to decide whether to buy a new Dyson upright, or just keep the old Dyson for our hardwood floors and deep cleaning, and get a new Linx to use on our three rugs

The pieces are relatively easy to pop apart, but sometimes the plastic gets a little tight and it can be a little annoying to pop it back when reassembling while you’re cleaning. I’d say the suction is pretty good, but I just got a Bissell Zing Canister and that thing sucks up debris and dirt that my Miele won’t. I debated for a long time between Dyson and Miele and regret not going with a Dyson. I wouldn’t say I regret my purchase, but maybe the Miele name is better in the plug in vacuum arena
