The design is durable, thanks to the Nubuck leather upper and Gore-Tex waterproof membrane, which we found to be highly durable. Our only complaint about the waterproofing is that it performs so well that these boots aren't able to breathe as well in hot summer conditions. The version of Kaha that we tested is a gender-neutral design, an offering rarely seen on the market. We loved this version, but if you're unsure about the All-Gender version, a women's specific model is also available.
While the rigid design and plush comfort offer a solid and supportive hiking boot, we also found it takes some time to get used to having two inches of foam underfoot. Once you've got the hang of it, the swallowtail design on the heel, which extends just beyond the back of the foot, along with the high ankle shaft, combine to provide superior stability and support. The Kaha 2 is a great choice for those who are after top-of-the-line performance and comfort for many burly adventures ahead.

The media could not be loaded. For starters, you should know that while I bought these boots to wear specifically for hiking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu in Peru, I am actually a professional hiker for a living and have tried ALL. THE. BOOTS

 That being said, they are looking almost as good as new after Peru and 2 months of local hiking, so I will have to update when they do start to degrade. BUT even if and when they do, I must say that at least for a big hike like the Inca trail, they were worth EVERY PENNY. In fact, even if they only last me a couple years on my local trails, I'm at an age now where the protection from the impact of hiking on my feet, knees, ankles and hips that these boots offer is worth the price, as steep as that is, even if they don't last as long as other brands and models. I've learned that with hiking boots and shoes, everything is a tradeoff, and for me, comfort is king

 Not the socks, the sock liners. The individually wrapped toes make all the difference.  Your feet will thank you! Also, that extra chunk makes them a lot more of a pain in the butt to pack, but again, WORTH IT. The air-cushioned heel made up for the support that the lower ankle shaft denied, and the design provides extra support for the arch of the foot. 
While the Moab 2 Mid is one of the heaviest boots we tested, they still feel light underfoot. The real caveats worth mentioning are the lack of traction &mdash; even with 5mm lug depths, we weren't confident enough to trust our feet on all types of terrain. We also noticed that the lacing system is secured with mesh, which we imagine would wear out over time, though we had no issues in our testing period. At the end of the day, this is an affordable option for those new to hiking and who aren't primarily focused on high performance.

I developed plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinitis in the last year and have had to find new shoes with arch support and cushioning. These boots are perfect right out of the box! I struggle to find shoes that are comfortable and don’t cause additional foot pain. You can feel the arch support as soon as you put them on. I’ve worn them all day and still no foot pain the next morning

 Simple and effective lacing system The Merrell Moab 2 GTX boots have extra padding and support around the ankles. The footbed is fitted with a thick latex like insert that absorbs a lot of the shock we experience when walking. I use my Moab 2 GTX is for a mix of hiking and speed marching, which involves quite a lot of running or jogging in my boots. The cushioning in the soul is truly fantastic it’s almost like wearing a pair of running trainers or shoes

 I said, the tape seams and i feel like that - just prolongs the dryness of my feet. Without hindering the drying out, process like a pair of gore-tex would another reason: i've chosen the merrell moab um, you know it's the mother of all boot, i mean literally it's in the title mother of all boots. Now, what's great about the merrell moab is not only like, i said the features of you know whether you have the option of vent dry or you know the gore-tex which i'm not a big fan of, but um they have vibram soles. Now the vibram sole is fantastic

 Now there is a difference. Trail runners are a little lighter. Typically, they don't have like boots. Are a lot more heavy duty? They are heavier like i said i choose boots over trail runners, just for mainly for the ankle support, and i do like knowing that my foot is in a nice safely contained durable hardcore unit around my foot

 HOWEVER, in my running shoes (Hoka) and hiking shoes, I am an 8.5. You want to give your foot some room to swell, and move around a bit (aka, not be jammed in there). Go up 1 size from your TRUE foot size, and you’ll be golden

When my trusty shoes wore out, I knew I wanted to order the boot version next for the ankle support and let me tell you: my ankles are so cozy in these boots!
