I want a shoe that has the cushion and drop of my Hoka Speedgoat with the toebox of my Altra Olympus 4.0.

Beware they do run very narrow at the toe and are not for everyone. If you needed the extra toe room you could look to the Hoka EVO Speedgoat,. EVO Mafate 2 or the Mafate Speed 3, all of which are high cushioned but have a stretchy bit of fabric over the toe, which can make the fit more accommodating.

I currently run in Nike Pegasus Trail Gore Tex. they are ok. But not great.

Shoes for long days of running &amp; hiking

I’ve done a couple ultras in loose snow, which felt a lot like running in sand to me. I’ve used both the SpeedCross and Hoka SpeedGoat. The ‘goats might have had the advantage due to the much wider sole helping with flotation, but I felt they got a lot heavier when wet. In all instances I studded the soles with about 8 sheet metal screws at the end of some select lugs, which I felt helped with a little extra grip even when ice wasn’t an issue

Wondering if anyone had any advice about shoes that may be better suited for sandy environments. I’m used to running in rocky, rooty, muddy Vermont environments and want to be better prepared for a trail that is relatively flat but very sandy. I currently sport the Salomon speed cross 5s and have used them in sand before but really don’t feel like the larger lugs give any advantage

Recommendations for trail shoes for sand

For years I wore boots (really heavy), then shoes (heavy) and now trail runners (not so heavy). I prefer the Hoka One Speedgoat trail runners. They are good for dry conditions, have great grip and stability (for me). I have never had ankle stability issues, so it works great

Does anyone backpack with trail running shoes? If boots, do you use actual “backpacking” boots or just something with ankle support?

, (4) have great cushioning for all-day wear on sharp surfaces, and (5) are not so heavy that I feel like I'm fighting the shoe when picking up the pace. I've run in Altra Timps and Lone Peaks, Brooks Caldera 4, La Sportiva Jackal, Salomon Sense Ride 3, and Topo MTN Racer 1s and none of these had all-day underfoot cushioning and protection against sharps like the Speedgoats. The durability of my Speedgoats have been good.

New trail running shoes

I run in the Speedgoat 3s and the Speedgoat 4 is a step back for me with regards to weight since it got heavier. The Speedgoat Evo on the other hand, is a huge improvement and superior to the Speedgoat 3 and 4.

For 3 season hiking I chose Hoka speedgoat 3, followed very closely by the brooks cascadia. They're both VERY comfortable shoes that are light and breath + dry very well. Lightness + Breathability + Drying quickly > a heavy gnarly boot that tries to keep you clean and dry but inevitably will get water logged from sweat anyway or the elements, just might take longer vs a trail runner. Also 1 pound on your foot is 5 pounds on your back

I'm  new to hiking but my girlfriend finally convinced me to go to a hiking  trip with her, somewhere around Schönau am Königssee and on the mountain area around it (nothing extreme tho). I've been looking for some proper shoes cause I'm  pretty sure I would regret it if I go with my ultra boost, and I've  found a few alternative:

1. Salomon  Quest Prime GTX: The only boots. Is it okay or overkill? I think it's  the most robust of them all and I can wear it when hiking during winter  or ski vacation. (114 euro)
2. Salomon  XA Pro 3D V8: trail runners, seems really comfy. However, no  waterproofness (can't use it in winter). I don't know if it offers  enough protection and grip? (96 euro)
3. Salomon  Trailster 2 GTX: quite similer to the XA, with GTX waterproofness.  However I've heard some controversy regarding GTX on trail runners (too  warm, sweaty feet). (72 euro)
4. Last  but not least: Merell Moab 2 (vents or GTX). Mother of all boots.  Almost bought the vents one immediately but read that it's really,  really prone to getting wet (even with just some wet grass). Not sure if  it's true and if I should just get the GTX version. Both around 80-90  euro.

What do you guys  think? Sadly I can't go to Globetrotter cause of the 'rona. I appreciate  any answer or if you have other suggestions, I would be very thankful!  Thanks and sorry for the long post. :)

I think salomon would be more versatile and less of an overkill but let&#39;s see. Kinda tempted of the idea of having  &quot;real&quot; boots in addition to my Timbs for winter :)</p>

 It can be quite deceptive that you feel great, but uh yeah. You need to make sure you keep up those good routines, so you can keep on running like this. Today'S session, yeah probably should tell you about that. You know it's really important

 Let'S go [ Music, ] foreign, hmm, [, Music, ], some really excellent, running there and really good to get consistency back into running, doing some of those mini sessions and well, we've got some big goals coming up which we'll be showing on the channel of course. So the reason why you're here this thing here, the adidas adi zero adios 6 - is let's go through a little few of those base stats for you. It'S got a 34 millimeter heel and a 22 got a 32 millimeter heel and a 24 millimeter four foot, giving it an eight millimeter drop from heel to toe so in the midsole they've, completely stripped out all boost and they've replaced it with the light strike pro. This stuff here, which is like super cushy and in the back, it's just got the light strike

 So now it feels like a good time to be able to give a full and honest review. But let's do one more keep living session: [, Music, ], [ Applause, ], [, Music, ] free! So when you start to run again after some time off - and you start increasing that duration, distance or intensity - and you have that feeling that everything feels great everything feels wonderful, don't forget to do those routines, those strengthening routines. It can be quite deceptive that you feel great, but uh yeah. You need to make sure you keep up those good routines, so you can keep on running like this

 Obviously, a little few things sorry to interrupt you mark, but you forgot to mention that grip is durable, the grip is great, but because they perforated it to make it look cool. Maybe now, if you're running on gravel or any surface, that has lots of little stones, as you can see here, it picks them up and retains them in here previously compared to like the adios fives. It didn't have that. Actually, i think this is a bit of a design fault

ADIDAS ADIOS 6 REVIEW

 So thank you to them for that [, Music ]. It comes to fit. I was very happy true to size uh in the adios 6. like actually

 In my normal size, like i said, i do have a narrow foot, so i like the kind of sleek kind of torpedo-ish design there. I have enough room in the toe box, but yeah the you know. People with wider foot might struggle a little bit as kind of always being the case with adidas's adios shoes, so obviously you're a little bit late to the party. With our review of the adios 6

 Just because it was surprisingly comfortable, like i'm a heel striker, and i was obviously worried that the big light strike chunk. There was going to be a bit clunky on the run and i would say i'm not. I don't really dislike live stream. I know a lot of people, don't like this foam at all, but i actually don't mind it that much

 You know, towards the back of the shoe there covering the whole midfoot, that's kind of basically a hard piece of plastic. That'S been in the adios line for a while to create a kind of snappy transition and then another common feature from kind of old out of your shoes is the continental rubber outsole. You see there's a little bit of exposure. A little exposed light strike pro, which could be a bit of a risk, but i've not seen any signs of kind of you know of that wearing down at all, but yeah you're getting continental rubber outsole, which is fantastic grip, really reliable and long lasting

Adidas Adizero Adios 6 Review: Better than the Boston 10?

 Comfortable running in, though. I ran 2 half marathons in them on top of varying distance runs from 5k to 15k and had no aches or pains caused by the shoes.

 In this midsole we've got two different foams. Now we've got light strike and we've got light strike pro the light strike pro. You can kind of see it on the bottom and on the side of the shoe. Is this kind of like puck of premium foam material? That'S toward the forefoot, where you're going to be landing on some of your faster runs and that's encapsulated and carried by the light strike

 The rubber in here seems to be very, very thick, and it also seems to be very dense, so that does a couple of things one. It turns out to be make this a really big, like rock magnet so like. I ran a little bit on some crushed limestone and like there's just tons of like little tiny pebbles in here, not a huge deal. I don't feel them, but it is kind of collecting a strange number of rocks and this torsion system design

 You can kind of see it on the bottom and on the side of the shoe. Is this kind of like puck of premium foam material? That'S toward the forefoot, where you're going to be landing on some of your faster runs and that's encapsulated and carried by the light strike. Foam that surrounds it. There'S also a torsion system in this shoe, which is kind of this wishbone shaped piece of plastic, and initially the torsion system for adidas was something that was just basically meant to prevent the shoe from twisting around too much kind of in this direction

 This little channel in here did pick up a very large rock that i could couldn't shake. I had to stop and kind of like pick it out at some point during the run. So that's all one of the things that's kind of going on with this shoe, but i think the bigger problem that i have, because the rock things i don't think is that big of a problem, the bigger problem that i have is, i feel like because of This thickness and density of this rubber outsole, i think that it's kind of like deadening, the foam a little bit and making the whole ride feel a little bit stiffer than it needs to be, and so i wish that i could feel a little bit more of That light strike pro and the light stripe foam and a little bit less of this, like very dense hard kind of rubber outsole. But i think, ultimately it's here in the way that it's designed here specifically because i think this audio six shoe now is supposed to be more of a workout shoe and not necessarily uh performance over a durability type of racer

Adidas Adios 6 - First Run

 We have now have the audios pro the it's kumi sen, a which has a high stack got the primex yeah, and this does relate to the takumi in a way we'll get to in a little bit. But let's just go over it. We got a recycled upper robbie, it did it pretty well, is it technically seller mesh or is it just like a recycled? I don't know if it's a seller measure or not it doesn't matter and that's just marketing anyway yeah. But if you look at the shoe you're gon na notice very narrow, this is not your altra

 All right is that it yeah okay at 120. I really do feel like it's a value shoe between the continental rubber, the torsion system. The light strike pro this nice fit. If you have what i would call not a troll foot, if you have like a regular narrow foot, they're gon na dig it do you think, there's anything else

 This is not your wide foot. People need not apply like just don't, even if you see our friend jared, just tell him step off, keep working at mcdonald's. This is a glove and some people have talked about needing a half size up. I feel it fits true to size

 I, like the shoe i like the shoe as far as a faster feeling, it's 9 ounces, 257 grams for a size. 10 and a half it's a nice weight for daily trainer. The drop is pretty average yeah. 8 millimeters 27 back here 19 up here
