 It felt like weights strapped under my feet. The ride felt stiff and unnatural with absolutely no noticeable propulsion from the carbon fiber plate. The transitions are smooth, though, because the meta-rocker is very pronounced. Overall: I'm boxing these up and returning them

 Long runs? I have more cushioned, comfortable options. Speed days? Not a chance! I wanted to like these a lot more than I did. As far as carbon racers go, I definitely recommend the Rocket X over these for just about every kind of run.

Bottom line: the Carbon X 2 is a running shoe with an identity crisis. Fit: Honestly, the fit of the upper, while imperfect, is the best feature of this shoe. It's easy to achieve a good lock down. The heel flare is a great feature and the ankle padding is super comfortable

I just want to buy one shoe for the entire endeavor boom right here. I think this shoe can knock out your training and you'll still have a shoe left at the end of the training block to race in okay, but anyway, that's, hopefully that makes sense with respect to my price score. Okay, i'll put our uh yeah price score here

 So at least it did not gain weight, all right, so good job hoka and yes, there is my score on the screen. Not the best, okay and i'll come back to the weight here in one minute, all right. Moving on to that mesh upper all right, the top of the shoe we're looking at a mesh upper, very breathable and i'm gon na say more comfortable than the original ram. Try not to turn this into a comparison vlog to the original carbon x, but definitely more breathable in this year's iteration

 Ultimately, I sent these back as I found the US 10s too large for me. I found them very chunky walking around the house.

 I wouldn't have gone to size up. I think i quite like the narrow um fit and, like i say up front um you've got a lot of kind of space there for your kind of toes and feet to kind of spread out and the only other thing, this kind of elevated hill. I was a little bit concerned about initially, but actually it wasn't, you know, didn't cause any problems for me and generally around. The kind of size of this upper is great and yeah so fit

 It was a little bit snug, so i half a sized up and it was much better. The opposite, i think, is true of the carbon x2 in this one. I deliberately went for a size, nine, so half a size up, and it actually feels a little bit too big. There was a little bit too much in the in the toe box

 However, it's really not very nice at slow pace, paces, even steady paces and i'm just not sure about the swallow design here like i am a heel striker, i'm assuming this is aimed at people like me, but um. I don't really find it. I think i think it has ruined the rind at slow paces, even for me, and then i don't know if it's helping much at fast paces, but i don't really appreciate it being there. I think basically uh

 I do feel like they're, less firm they're a little softer a little bit more squidgy, which is you know. I talk about this a lot in the reviews when i do them, but that's not really my thing and i think that's one of my big problems actually here i found that the firm ride with these was much more to my liking. Hoka One One Carbon X2 Review: A detailed test from four runners

8 ounces, so to explain what it was like to run in the carbon x2 today, i think it might be helpful to kind of compare it to the carbon x version, one in terms of especially the things that i didn't love about. The carbon x1 overall, i think that the carbon x2 fixes the three major problems i had with that shoe and it does it really really well. The first thing that's changed from version one to version two is that the eva, that's up top as part of this pro 5x kind of like sandwich is that the foam, this lighter colored foam, there's more of it, and it's softer, i'm not sure if it's just That there's more of this lighter colored midsole foam the cm eva because of the way that they've shifted the position of the carbon fiber plate or, if they've actually made that cm eva softer either way. I do feel like there is an increased amount of softness to the eva, not so much that it's going to be a squishy shoe by any means

 But this year i'm feeling a lot more spring than i felt last year last year in the version one i almost felt like it wasn't there. I mean it was there, but it was so subtle. It was working in a very different way than what i'd come to expect when i think about a carbon, fiber marathon or even longer distance racing shoe this year, they're bringing some of that carbon fiber plate feeling in they're borrowing. Some more of that feeling from like the rocket x, for example, which had a fantastic carbon plate feel to it and i'm really enjoying it now

 Necessarily it's more of a system and what this system is is up top in this lighter colored foam you've got their cm eva, which is a softer material. Then you've got the carbon fiber plate and then on the bottom. You'Ve got rubberized eva beneath the carbon fiber plate, which serves kind of as an eva foam, but kind of also as the outsole itself, there's no actual rubber. On the outsole of this shoe, it's just running on a layer of that rubberized eva up top

 So i feel like when we're talking about vaporify or similar types of carbon fiber plates, it's kind of the feeling where you're catching something really heavy and then having to throw it back. So, like you hit the ground and then there's like a little bit of a time lag and then it pushes back and you get a really strong sense of that push back feeling with the carbon x2. I feel like it's absorbing the impact from when you're hitting the ground and then kind of sliding you forward. So it's not as abrupt it's not as like aggressive of a push from the carbon fiber, but it's definitely like shifting you along sliding you along almost uh, and you feel that carbon fiber plate, but the predominant feeling that i'm feeling from the carbon fiber here is That it's absorbing a lot of that impact, maybe that's also affecting why i feel like the eva, feels like it's softer that carbon fiber is in there, but i can certainly feel it both at slower paces and at quicker paces as well

 This shoe was true to size for me, so i got this in my regular uk size 12.. I think if i was really being nitpicky. I probably would have preferred to go half a size down, but the truth size was alright

 I have suffered from that with a little bit with some other hoka shoes, but yeah very good. I really like this new mesh material upper lots of width as well at the front to uh yeah, so you get your foot splay nice in there. I think if, unless you have a really extremely wide but you're going to be you're, going to have plenty of room in the toe box here, so for me overall, very, very comfortable to running out the box. As i say, no issues with any sort of slipping hot spots blisters or anything like that, just all right, good, solid, just quick break guys

The media could not be loaded. This review is for runners and especially runners who hate the new Toruń’s! These shoes arrived in a beat up box with no Altra paperwork or other packaging details. The shoes themselves smell like they just came out of the factory. It also took a really long time for them to arrive

Knockoffs but just as good

Initially, I hated these shoes (but I love them!)! My boyfriend and I spent weeks (literally) looking for a new pair of shoes for me due to my feet widening after having a baby, and growing half a size. My ASICS were no longer doing it for me because my toes were squished.  These shoes have such a wide toe box and a good amount of cushion on the bottom, both of which were difficult to get used to while working out after my toes had been squished for two years in super uncomfortable shoes! But after about a week of wearing them constantly and going for long walks in them, they became my favorite shoe EVER! The arch support is great, which I was looking for. The wide toe box allows for your toes to move freely and BREATHE!  The only complaint I have is, without having put too many miles on them yet, the fabric on the inside of the shoe near my heel has already worn a hole

...super disappointing! An easy fix with a band aid under the sock, and making sure you're wearing a thicker or wool sock while in use

I MISS MY OLD ONES

 When I tried them on they fit fine, but the sole was so stiff that I could barely bend my foot. Unfortunately, I had to return them because I did not want to risk an injury to the ball of my foot.

 My feet also get REALLY hot in them, towards the end of my 5 mile run it feels like they're burning. On the flip side, they're cushiony 🤷 Will give them another week before I rule them out completely.
