Design

Good Feel, Great Switches, Mediocre RGB, Terrible Software, but overall WAY TOO LOUD!

This keyboard definitely meets that need, while being aesthetically stylish and feeling very responsive. The board its self is a nice 61-key compact keyboard. This means no F1-F12 keys, no arrow keys, no Home/Insert/Delete/Print Screen keys, and no ten key. The footprint it leaves on your desk is as small as it possibly can be without sacrificing basic needs in a keyboard and it's very pleasing because of it

Good keyboard let down by poor power delivery.

For many, that won't be an issue, but if you're someone who values aesthetics and was hoping to use a custom USB C cable with your Drop ALT, you'll find yourself disappointed. Drop needs to work on this in future revisions because a lot of custom builders desire the look of a coiled C cable.

Build Quality

My HK-Gaming Naos-M with some mods. Picture album + First impression

The skates are thicker than the Mira and have a smoother glide. The overall build quality feels great, no creaking or flexing or anything funky like that. The weight comes in at 59g with no holes in the side which is pretty impressive for a mouse this size. The main clicks are 20m omron and feel great, there is a tiny amount of post travel but nothing that I would ever notice while gaming or normal use as you have to press down rather hard and hold to actually notice it

It’s aight, but not for $200

The Good - It’s construction is solid. It’s very high quality (in build-quality) and that is the best thing it has going for it. The meh - This one is more of a personal preference, but I absolutely hated the Halo True switches unlubed. I feel like they’re polarizing though, so another person may absolutely love them; I like to bottom out when I type, and those switches are definitely for typists who glide from key to key with little taps

Software

Great keyboard, Software is an absolute joke/disaster

You are going to be at the mercy of some poor team of programmers who were given a day to create it.

The best keyboard I've ever used

It worked great for me and they even support macOS, which I wasn't expecting. This is a MUCH better experience than what I've had with other keyboards, which required downloading their janky software onto a Windows PC and then trying to figure out how to work it. Drop's site was easy and intuitive. The Drop software also makes it easy to program volume, play/pause, and skip buttons wherever you want them, even on macOS

Backlight

The keyboard is great, the software isn't.

When I found this keyboard, I was surprised that it was this cheap for a 60% with Gateron switches. Upon receiving the keyboard, I immediately tried to customize the lighting on the keyboard, and just like how the reviews I watched on YouTube said - the keyboard's software wasn't good. I couldn't put custom hex codes, even though there were places in the software to do so. In the end, I stuck with just a plain white backlight

RGB lighting- I used to not like it, but now I prefer it. This complicates things too. I'm going to replace the switches, but I am NOT desoldering every single RGB. The lights need to be mounted onto the PCB and allow you easily change the switches

Price Point

Alright value but you get what you pay for

The key caps feel really cheap because they are cheap. The stabilizers are loose and my space bar didn't even work. It's cool how you can swap switches and key caps but I'd spend a little more money and get a quality keyboard over a cheap keyboard that has a lot of gimmicks. I'd recommend spending your money on Kemove which has better quality parts and you can swap switches

A great keyboard if you like something that's stealthy, but flashy at the same time.

The Drop ALT is a great keyboard but with a few faults that make the price point questionable. For one, the included stabilizers are god awful and require extensive amounts of Krytox to make it bearable. Along with that, it only supports 3 pin switches rather than 5 so you have to waste snipping the tiny legs off your switches before using them. Finally, the software you use to add macros, and change the RGB lighting effects suck

Weight

Great Keyboard for Modding!

It is slightly heavier now, which is what I want, in order to achieve a more thocky sound. The additional weight comes from the car sound dampening foam. If you’re on the fence about grabbing a 60% keyboard for cheap and want to mod it, this is a good move for beginners not wanting to break the bank.

Some issues....

Hefty, weighty, built like a tank, but when I lower the brightness of the lighting, I'm unable to increase it, even after resetting the keyboard. I have to do the shift, Ctrl, fn, I key combo to correct it anytime the keyboard is unplugged. Beyond that issue, it's a pretty great keyboard, if only it was wireless too.
