 It's like night and day how much better I feel now that I got rid of the Leap chair. Plus, the Mirra 2 has the best lumber adjuster that I've ever experienced in an office chair and I just feel so much more supported in it than the Leap (or even the original Aeron I had before the Leap).

I switched to a Herman Miller Mirra 2 which has great sacrum support (even better than an Aeron), and literally after the first work day of sitting it it, I feel so much better. I think I read somewhere that Herman Miller states that sacrum support is just as important as lumbar support for overall back health and I'm inclined to agree. It's like night and day how much better I feel now that I got rid of the Leap chair. Plus, the Mirra 2 has the best lumber adjuster that I've ever experienced in an office chair and I just feel so much more supported in it than the Leap (or even the original Aeron I had before the Leap)

 The arms are soft and filled with a kind of a gel and are very comfortable unlike the hard or soft plastic most other chair use. In addition to adjusting up and down, the armrests also twist inward as well as move in and out.  The material that comprises the back is very flexible. Unlike a traditional chair that usually has a hard or soft back, the Mirra's back is flexible and molds to your back

 The arms don't always lock at the height you select, the steps for the locking mechanism need to be tighter. In addition, the armrests don't move in and out very smoothly, it takes a disproportionate amount of force to get them moving and you have a tendency to slam the armrest because of the force you use. Overall, once the chair is adjusted to your workspace these annoyances fade and you you don't notice them as much.  Conclusion Overall, I like the Mirra

Sometimes quality is worth the money

 If you just get a basic version you aren't really going to get all of the benefit. The forward tilt and adjustable arms are really key to comfortable use of the computer. I always like to try and find products that qualify for Amazon Prime, but the fully adjustable model with forward tilt was not available through them at the time of order.

Okay so this new Onyx Ultramat finish option has been released last year and is a darker version of the usual graphite colorway. Long story short, this is a black Aeron, while the usual graphite option is more of a dark grey. The materials here are a bit different as there's a higher percentage of recycled plastic, making it more sustainable than the standard colorway

 It was still a taxable benefit, so all things considered, the chair costed me a little under a thousand Canadian dollars, all in all. Still, cheaper than a used Remastered model. Other reasons I went with a new one is because I wanted the Remastered model, which is rarer on the used market. My experience with Aeron Classics was that they weren't super comfortable

As for buying it new, if the chair wasn't partially paid by my employer, I would totally go with a used remastered in good condition. Even though the 12 year warranty would be void, these chairs hardly break and if they do, there are plenty of replacement parts out there given how widespread they are
