 I literally had a 7 year old girl in my class today with this exact same snowboard and she was struggling hard core until I switched her out onto one of our Burton rental boards and she was immediately doing so much better. And this wasn't an isolated incident, my fellow instructors and I regularly switch kids off of Head gear in our lessons and tell parents at the end of the day to get a different snowboard for their child. They're seriously that bad.

I've been a children's snowboard instructor for the past 5 years and I can say without a doubt that Head makes the absolute worst children's snowboard gear on the market. These boards are too wide which means kids can't tilt them properly to get speed control on their edges, and they're too stiff with too narrow of a stance which means kids can't twist or flex the board to get any kind of steering out of it.  Moderate camber underfoot lends to stable footing when sidehilling in firmer conditions and the ultra lightweight construction is noticeable when tackling big days in the mountains that require an extra boost of energy (or fewer grams underfoot).

As a big guy, the number one thing I am looking for in a powder ski is float. On a recent tour in the Vail zone in choppy conditions, I found myself working hard to track the ski through the finish of each turn.

 Something to note is that Voile changes the waste width of their skis to proportionately match the length. In the 185cm version, the waist comes in at 108mm which I found to be a great medium between uphill efficiency and downhill powder performance.

Personally, I would not choose to ski this setup for a full day of high pressure resort skiing, but there are some limited applications. For example, when opening it up on a groomer post fitness lap, the torsional rigidity and 20m turns radius lends to great edge hold for high speed carves (just be prepared for more vibration throughout the ski). For a resort powder ski, I think the HyperCharger could be considered but you would want to beef up your binding/boot combo and be cognizant of the limitations if you are the type of skier who likes to jump, butter, or spin your way down the mountain.
