It's not bad, but some particles are super small and you get tons of extraction, and some particles are pretty large and they don't extract as much. This means that you likely have some overextraction (generally giving you more bitter, smoky tastes), some underextraction (generally giving you more acidic notes), and some perfectly extracted. This isn't terrible, but you end up getting a lot of different coffee tastes all in the same cup.

When emptying, gentle taps will clear the spice off the blades - Avoid the temptation to try parmesan blocks or bread in this. This machine was not designed for moistness at any level. - Other ideas: Mustard powder, white peppercorn powder (great in soups), coriander-cumin mix (aromatic in many Indian dishes), nut meals (please roast dry first), fennel seed powder (a friend suggested a heavy pinch of this for an excellent pizza sauce).

I am not impressed. I would like to find something better but unwilling to spend $100 for a manual grinder that from some reviews still has issues. 😏

KitchenArt 80310 Dual End Salt & Pepper Grinder is essentially the same mechanism, and twice the grinder mech at half the cost! That's just an example of why this is overpriced. The KitchenArt is not practical for large-scale grinds but adequate for those that just need a pinch here or there. It will grind coffee, too, but without the leverage of the handle that Hario et al employ. So, if you're looking to grind spice with this, consider a cheaper solution or put the same money towards an electric version

The prices on this item vary to a ridiculous amount I have since discovered. I have seen it priced from below $10 to over $60. This one was easy and convenient, free shipping, came quickly and was new in a new, unscarred box that would be suitable for a gift, so I am not disappointed, however if you are minding your pennies and not in a hurry, you can save a bob or two by comparison shopping. The plastic making up the lid is soft and brittle

The beans are ground to perfection for pour over freshly ground bean coffee. It’s easy to use with the little handle crank. It’s easy to clean. I did my research and found that this one checked all of my needs and wants in a hand grinder

I like the look and feel of it, and the price is reasonable even I only use it for grinding coffee beans. If you want to grind herbs though, you might want to look for another product.
