This backpack by Osprey is very well made but keep in mind this is a laptop backpack. It’s not going to take a lot and I am quite disappointed with the size. It’s long but thin. Zipper doesn’t go all around because of the bottle pocket will not allow for this

However, it's important to keep your expectations realistic. The Gr1 isn't abounding with organizational provisions, and it won't wow you with a bunch of fancy bells and whistles

 Because it's designed to double as a rucking bag, the Jr1 boasts some of the beefiest straps you'll find on a backpack. Where most packs typically come with some plushy mesh padding on their straps, the Gr1 instead sports two layers of dense foam, one to provide structure and the other to add a bit of comfort. They're pretty stiff when you first get the bag, but they'll break in more and more with continued use. It's worth noting, though the straps are pretty coarse

 However, it also makes the pocket into something of a bottomless black hole. Not a deal breaker by any means, just something to consider if you're packing and unpacking on the move. No matter how much weight you're carrying, just be sure to check your size. Our tester stands a solid 511, and while the 21 liter makes for a great fit, the larger 26 liter model can be a bit long depending on the size of your torso

This is also very comfortable when worn, as the shoulder straps and back of the bag are very well-padded.  • Durability: As noted, this is well-padded and made of a solid polyester fabric material. Not a full zip-around, but great for intraday use

 I imagine the carabiner on the right shoulder strap could come in handy to secure it to a chair or stroller when out in public and not wearing it on my back.

 I think this is due to the how little this protrudes away from your back, and the ridged foam back panel that gives it a nice flat surface that comfortably rests on your back. (pic of empty backpack staying flat when I’m holding it up horizontally) Photos are for size and volume. I do not have the best lighting, and the backpack looks much nicer in person. Also, in most photos, I left the water bottles in the outer pocket, which gives makes the backpack look uncharacteristically lumpy

  For the sake of this review and photos, I tried to fill the bag up to show what can fit. Even then, it was still very comfortable, definitely did not feel the weight like I would when using any other backpack I own. 4.5 stars, Great day bag / diaper bag

Great build quality, looks nice, minimal and slim despite the fact that it fits way more than it looks like it does. Great laptop and secondary laptop/iPad sleeve inside. Water resistant material, great ergonomics and spaces/pockets inside. Feels good on the back too

 Straps or you can put it underneath of your load lifters, and so i'm putting it under the load lifters after i've done that now my pack is nice and cinched all the way around, and i can just throw it on combine that with a rain jacket and My gear and myself are going to stay nice and dry, enjoy the rainy trails guys have a good day. 

How to use the Osprey Ultralight Rain Cover

This product was super light and I wanted to like it but it just didn't work for me. It was too dainty and didn't fit my Osprey Aura 65 since my outside attachments are too big (otherwise it would have fit the backpack fine). I have a multi-use poncho tarp that I like to fasten to my backpack that I think works better for me.

 It worked perfectly. Was hiking along the AT when Tropical Storm Alberto came in, this helped keep it dry, (still use a contractor trash bag as a liner though). I like double reassurance.

 Do you lay your bag on the muddy ground or stand it upright exposing it on one side to rain and putting your hip belt in the mud? So when you finally have your tent broken down and rolled up/folded, you put that wet sponge where? In your half dry back pack. Now if you are smart, you just throw the tent into a garbage bag to keep the majority of the moisture in the bag and then put it into your pack. Anyway if it is raining more than a mist, this probably isn't going to help much depending on the circumstances. I am a novice and I realize my circumstance is not what yours will be

In theory, it is good. In reality, it isn't. Use a garbage bag or trash compactor bag instead.

 That frame area is exposed and I have found water to find its way into the main compartment through this spot. No Rain cover is entirely waterproof but if you're worried, I would suggest a pack liner of sorts for extra protection. Overall, I really liek the color and reflective tones and the lightweight pack protection for most wet weather. I would defintely buy another one in the hi Vis style for Bike Commuting
