GoRuck GR1 vs Osprey Farpoint 40

This backpack by Osprey is very well made but keep in mind this is a laptop backpack. It’s not going to take a lot and I am quite disappointed with the size. It’s long but thin. Zipper doesn’t go all around because of the bottle pocket will not allow for this

I wanted to like this bag, and there are some things I do like, but the laptop compartment is a huge miss for me. I was looking for a pack to take with me to Borneo for 3 weeks. I managed to almost fit (but not) everything I wanted in to it, but it was like a stuffed sausage in the main compartment and a turtle overall. The small upper pocket worked well to hold my liquids, but what the heck could I put in the two sectioned laptop sleeve pocket? There are no small compartments, just a large zippered one and a large Velcro laptop one

pack was balanced and comfortable on my 5'11" body. There are features of a quality hiking backpack: a stable but lightweight frame, contoured shoulder harnesses featuring load lifter straps that prevent sagging away from your back, sternum strap and hip belt that perfectly transfers weight away from the shoulders. I had a comfortable, hands-free trek through an airport terminal, onto a monorail, up and down subway stairs and along a half mile of sidewalk to my hotel. I'll never drag along rolling carry-on luggage again

It just screams “chic”! This is also very comfortable when worn, as the shoulder straps and back of the bag are very well-padded. • Durability: As noted, this is well-padded and made of a solid polyester fabric material. As I intend to wear this for walks to/from the office and daytrips, I believe this should hold up just fine. In summary, I love the color and comfort

Overall, I was pretty happy with everything I packed. In the future I would like to pack to the size of my mini MLC but use my Osprey Farpoint 40 for the comfort. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy (and safe) travels!

I imagine the carabiner on the right shoulder strap could come in handy to secure it to a chair or stroller when out in public and not wearing it on my back.

Getting it on, I could not see the straps AT ALL. If I did not have a traveling companion I am not sure I would have gotten it on. I would have required a mirror. Once on the hip straps did their job and kept the weight off my shoulders

Water resistant material, great ergonomics and spaces/pockets inside. Feels good on the back too. Best money I've ever spent on a bag.

The smaller top pocket is perfect for your TSA liquid bag or throwing in the contents of your pants pockets before sending it through the x-ray machine. I do TSA Precheck so I don't have to take out my liquids, but leaving from other countries, liquids do have to come out so this pocket is handy. When leaving the US, put my wallet, cellphone and watch in the pocket so they're not in plain sight to temps any sticky fingers. The current model has more of a low key logo of just the bird and Osprey wording, not what the picture Amazon shows
