So first of all, here's a quick size comparison between the Hero 4 and the Hero 5 for obvious reasons: I prefer the newer one not only because it looks cooler, but it feels more satisfying in the hand with those rounded corners and that waterproof material. So GoPro did us a huge favor by including everything built into the Hero 5 itself, which I'll get into in just a second

 So first of all, here's a quick size comparison between the Hero 4 and the Hero 5 for obvious reasons: I prefer the newer one not only because it looks cooler, but it feels more satisfying in the hand with those rounded corners and that waterproof material. It comes with a handy housing that's backwards compatible to hundreds of existing GoPro compatible accessories and they made a slight adjustment to the locking mechanism with this hardened rubber in between the clips, making it much easier to maneuver on or off. Accessories also included is a USB type-c charging cable, which thank goodness for that

For the price, it’s an okay camera. Have had more than a few issues like the thing freezing up which requires me to eject the battery to force a restart. Connection via iPhone app also has some stutter here and there. The quality of the images and video are alright compared to what you can get in an SLR or digital camera for a similar price, but it’s tiny and meant to go anywhere, which is sort of the point

 I’ve used the thing on a snorkeling trip without a housing with no issues and frequently take it to the beach. I also have a suction mount which allows me to get some neat perspective when flying GA aircraft and driving. The image stabilization is ‘just okay’ when you compare it to later hero models. The biggest problem I have is that the batteries only last an hour or so - definitely want to tweak your brightness and screensaver settings for efficiency and consider purchasing additional batteries and external power packs as I have!  If you’re looking for your first action cam or are on a budget, you likely will not be disappointed

 I can barely tell on my 49” 4K TV. With specs like this, and what I’ve encountered while using it, I can’t imagine why this hasn’t been way more popular. Don’t be dissuaded by peoples comments that this is outdated… you’ll be hard pressed to find another action cam in this price bracket with all these features and benefits. And I have to mention… no outer waterproof housing is needed

Amazing little action cam. My favorite feature is how easy it is to wirelessly save videos and pictures to my iPhone camera roll. The format is perfectly compatible with no conversion. For larger videos it is faster to use an iOS camera connection kit directly or with a card reader attached… the fastest way

 Don't have to worry about holding it steady. For the price, vs others, I'd say it was great. Still learning some of the features. Recommended

Very nice little unit

 It will record a full clip and then start another if left on with a strong battery. The bad: It's heavy for an action cam. Can't be helped if the durability and view screen are as good as they are. While a negative, I wouldn't sacrifice those features for less weight

 The good: Long battery life. I brought a charger with me to the parks and never used it. We recorded up to 3 hrs each day and never used more than half battery. Great picture with both lenses

Great value and quality!

  So my solution was picking up a monopod and recording from a higher vantage point, the issue from that was you had to bring it down for minor adjustments and you only had an idea of what you were recording. The SP1 negated these issues with it's wide angle lens, capturing a wider view of what it's recording, and almost eliminating the need to center your subject.  I found it to work very well in low light conditions and the clarity was superb outdoors. It has some very cool features, such as slo mo and time lapse
