 And then they went on the other side of the spectrum and introduced this guy the Google Home Max. and at the time it launched it for hundred dollars and a lot of people wondered whether or not they should even buy it or what exactly it was for. But now that it's been a couple years since it's come out and we've had one in the office and used it every day since we wanted to revisit it and see, is it still worth buying?  Meaning, some stuff can be stored internally on this thing so that it can pull up some responses a little bit quicker than normal. It can also be paired up with like speakers, so if you had two of these here in the Google home app, you could actually set them up as a stereo pair and stand them up on their edges and get full stereo separation. Another trick that it has that's probably my favorite thing that it does is the ability to use the microphones onboard to real-time adapt to the room that it's in. So whether you take it outside or it's in a garage, or you have it on a shelf, it knows how to listen to the environment around it, hear the bass response that's coming back off the walls, and then adjust an EQ itself to sound the best that it can in any given room

 So if you're thinking about getting a smart speaker, you want something that sounds really awesome and has a nice set of connectivity features. This thing still does it in 2020 and it's still gonna do it for a long time. I Mean there's really nothing aging on this speaker and we love it. maybe more now than we did, even when it launched

 you're not going to get some wide stereo separation or any folk surround sound, but in general it just sounds really awesome. And the final connectivity option that most people don't even know on this thing is it has bluetooth. Now there's no button on here, so there's no quick way to turn it on. but in the Google home app, you connect to it, go to the settings and click enable bluetooth pairing

Is the Google Home Max Still Worth It??

I paid full price, I just hope Google doesn't drop the price later as they did for other home products. I paid 4 bills for it, it would probably sell much better for 3.

Apart from Sonos 5 ( $100 more ), no other better sounding speaker out there in my opinion.

Very good bass. Meaning that if you live in an apartment or condo, your neighbors may complain if you play this thing above 70 or 80%.

Expensive but excellent speaker!

 You can also assume, of course, that Google's own speakers will get new features first (that's what has happened with Alexa speakers). Unless the Link is compellingly better, audio-wise, the Max is a safer bet.

Yes, you can absolutely get an Amazon Echo Dot and connect it to one of those other wireless speakers, or even make a whole-home system out of speakers wearing Echo Dot hats. But there's a lot to be said for simplicity and elegant design.

 It's rather heavy, weighing in at 11.7 pounds, but that's fine since it isn't meant to be portable.

 Other home minis are three years old. The mics didn't clog up at the exact same time. A wave of dust didn't pour in one random day and clog all the mics.

We almost have to scream Hey Google now for the units to react at all. This happened quite recently and has been like that for about 2 weeks.

 I also tried some Harman Kardon Citation and they sounded better but extremely bassy for my taste. So in short, as you can see you it's a difficult world for those of us that prefer Google Assistant and Android and that also want to use Sonos for their sound quality and convenience.

That said, in the world of wireless speakers I haven't found anything up to Sonos quality. I have Nest Audio and Google Home Max and they're good enough but not the best sound. I also tried some Harman Kardon Citation and they sounded better but extremely bassy for my taste. So in short, as you can see you it's a difficult world for those of us that prefer Google Assistant and Android and that also want to use Sonos for their sound quality and convenience

I recently purchased a pair of Sonos Ones with hopes of using them with Google Voice assist and Google Home devices. I want to make a long term investment in the Sonos ecosystem but I'm concerned about reduced support for Google Voice Assistant in the years to come. 

My Sonos One's arrive next week so it is not to late to return. I'm having second thoughts about the long term the continued partnership in the years to come and if I would be better off going with Google Smart speakers instead. Would love to get thoughts/impressiosn from users of both the Google and Sonos ecosystems.

Is the Max too powerful for us? &nbsp;Small spaces are actually the perfect place to try out Smart Sound, Google&rsquo;s algorithm that allows the speaker to automatically tweak equalizer settings to push out the best sound depending strictly on what the layout allows for, as picked up by its internal microphones.

Both at quiet and loud volumes, it&rsquo;s expertly tuned in such a way that the highs and lows in the mix never trip over each other.&nbsp;
