I have a couple of the Goal Zero Torch 250 flashlights, so was excited to see they came out with a new model. I received one for Christmas, and was surprised to see how warm the light was. There is quite a difference between it and the original torch, which is more of a neutral to cool white. I checked the tech specs on Goal Zero's website, and the color temperature for the spot is 3000 Kelvin

 It reminds me of my old classic incandescent Maglite I carried years ago. If you prefer a warm white flashlight, then this might be a plus for you, as they seem harder to find these days.

I love this light as well as most of goal zero's products. It puts out a very bright beam/flood light, and the color temp is a nice bit warmer than the typical blue/cool white LED lights that dominate the market.  Maybe I have a bad unit, but the battery indicator always shows I have a full charge until the battery completely dies. Great light, bad battery indicator

 (they own Goal Zero) so I like the company. Products NOT CHEAP but they are far better than the cheap $22 Mini-Solar lights (i have 10 of them, 7 died (battery, wiring, misc) after 1 year. These do last a long time and use them camping/car repair/when cooking in my back yard at night. Worth the extra price

I have many Goal Zero 250.. tough light.  This one is sexy.. 3.5  hours exactly flood.

 The solar option for charging is a bonus. Very happy with the light - the flashlight could stand to be a bit brighter, though - and quality is first-rate. Put 400-450 lumens in this puppy and I'd rank it 5 stars! I think it'll pair well with my Nomad solar panels.

Overall, this is a light worth having. With a usable flashlight beam and a great area flood, it's not just good to have during an outage or off the grid, it's just a handy light to have - period. I've been using my Zebralights hard since 2011 and they've proven impossible to beat. I still try new lights on occasion, but I always come back to these. The SC64w is one of my favorites. I didn't need to update my SC62 and then SC63w, but I always like the latest and greatest

  First off, the highest brightness setting (which is one of the default "high" modes) is pretty impractical for most everyday applications because of how quickly the light overheats. when running this light at high, the head of the flashlight immediately starts to heat up, and even within a minute the flashlight becomes uncomfortably hot to hold. Measuring it with a thermocouple indicated that the body temperature reached at least 47 degrees C (117 F) in a relatively cool room, which while not hot enough to burn your skin, is still more than hot enough to be unpleasant to touch, and the light is short enough and shaped in such a way that you will pretty much always be holding it by the head. This renders the default high mode almost unusable except for very brief spurts

 Here I'll just show you the 12 degree hotspot which is what Zebralight uses in most of their small lights. You can see it is more floody than the SC64W high and gives it kind of a wider beam.  The XC64 series is the smallest of their 18650 lights.

 It uses a Cree High Intensity XHP35 emitter.

 It has a wide range of outputs from a moonlight mode up to about 1100 lumens.

 You do have to use an unprotected flat top cell and I list some there that are my favourites.

 Zebralights use efficient boost drivers that give you long run times and very flat outputs
