The solidly-built GLORIOUS GMMK PRO has been a favorite among keyboard modification hobbyists since it first launched due to its high level of customization. Unlike the Keychron Q6, which you can buy fully assembled, this keyboard only comes barebones, meaning you'll have to purchase the keycaps and switches separately. You'll also have to install them yourself, which feels a bit like playing with LEGO, but it can be a bit tedious if you're not into that sort of thing.

Though, it's important to mention that it's not just the switches and the keycaps that are customizable. This keyboard is designed to be taken apart, tweaked, and modified at any level, so you can easily replace the sound-dampening foam inside the case with a different type of foam if you want a certain sound profile. Likewise, you can purchase different top plates, rotary knobs, and cables directly from GLORIOUS to complete your custom look. Unfortunately, you'll also have to buy the tools separately, like a keycap puller and switch puller, as this keyboard doesn't come with them.

 So you know at least something about what you're getting the wrist rest is quite comfortable and they do padded designs as well. Apparently, the wire pullers are pretty standard and the switch puller is a known design as well, although these are branded and therefore relatively expensive, but these are very useful tools to have on hand wire, pullers aren't as good for pulling big keycaps as ring. Pullers like this are but they're much better for single unit keycaps, and this sort of switch puller is way better than this simpler design. So, even if you don't get them from glorious themselves, it's good to get these tools from somewhere at least the two-part coiled cable is very stout, and the connection in the middle here is apparently so that you can disconnect it without wearing out the actual end connectors

 Prices on those vary widely from a few hundred to a few thousand. My tip get this and one of the key cap sets and stick some box jades or box pinks, or something like that in solid, build with solid switches for 250 dollars. That'S it for this review. Thank you for watching

 To put that into perspective, that's roughly the same weight as an ibm, ssk model m. I remember that this is both smaller and it has a chassis made out of aluminium, not steel. If it had been steel, i reckon it could have given a model f, a run for its money, heft wise, because it feels like an adamantium monolith already and it's a wraparound case too, not one with those exposed floating switches that you see on many modern boards. I approve in any case it's turbo tough

 It'S really that which caught my attention. This manifests itself in not just a slew of optional extras that you can get for it, but a premium chassis plate, gaskets, pre-lubricated, stabilizers, a programmable rotary knob here and some other small tidbits. As a side note, please note that the keycaps and the switches were optional extras too, both of which are also called glorious. The switches deserve some special mention i'll get back to those later in the video

Glorious GMMK Pro review (Glorious Pandas)

This kit has some of the worst stabilizers i've had the displeasure of "using". Spacebar rattles and the other ones stick. To remedy this you can try cleaning them but not like Glorious instructs on their website with isopropyl alcohol; that murks the inside of the plastic housings and makes them abrasive and scratchy rendering them useless unless you take em apart and fully de-grease them in a soapy water bath then hand dry them after a rinse. Doing that reverts the lot back to usable (as in they will function) but with more rattle

 I shouldn't have to replace ANYTHING out of necessity on a buck seventy item.  Keycap choices are limited as well. Most sets lack the 1u right alt, fn, ctrl, the 1.75u right shift, and the correct profile Del and PgUP keys

These are south facing leds so unless your switches have clear housing don't rely on visible lit legends on shine-through keycaps. Puddings are a smear of light on this board

 The Romer-G keycaps are also bad shapewise and uncomfortable.  But, I would say that if you don't care about the brand, get a Glorious GMMK. Even better, get the barebones edition for it; if it's available in your region. It's hot-swappable and compatible with many keycap sets, so you can get the exact key feel that you want to get

I would recommend the GX as well. Romer-G s are relatively older and are not really used anymore. The Romer-G keycaps are also bad shapewise and uncomfortable.  But, I would say that if you don't care about the brand, get a Glorious GMMK

I know that Romer-G has better durability and is a lot better competitive-wise, but the GX Switches can have the HyperX PBT keycaps on them, but I keep hearing from other people that the stems keep breaking off. So I'm not sure if getting the Romer-G keycaps would be worth it despite the customization options it brings.

Help between Romer-G and GX Switches

The overall typing experience of my Kailh Speed Silver and PBT keycaps build was quite good. I was surprised by how well everything fit together, resulting in a light and rattle-free touch-typing experience that’s made all the more impressive considering the GMMK Pro isn’t pre-assembled. While I wouldn’t say that it’s the best feeling keyboard I’ve used out of the box, the GMMK Pro is definitely up there.

3 pounds for just the chassis with nothing else in it, this is by far the heaviest keyboard I’ve ever used. This makes the chassis particularly resistant to any type of flexing or wobble. However, one interesting omission from the chassis is any feet to angle the keyboard. This isn’t a massive issue since the chassis angles upward at a slight angle

The Glorious software (only for Windows, sorry Mac users) used for changing lighting and programming macros is stable and intuitive, but you came to the wrong house if you wanted a keyboard with more complex RGB patterns. This is a little disappointing, but the GMMK Pro isn’t specifically geared toward the audience that finds that aspect particularly important. In fact, Glorious only offers two sets of shine-through keycaps but nine sets of keycaps that are either solid colors or gradients.

A sturdy DIY keyboard with a lot of potential

 I'd gotten addicted to it when I had another that came with one out of the box.  SO, I knew Glorious was on the list. And once failure had reared it's ugly buttocks at me, Glorious got the call.  Call might be an understatement, but what is NOT understated is the heft of this keeb

  Ok, so I've upgraded and built 2 keebs so far. The GMMK Pro was high on my list after I'd tried, and failed, another out-of-the-box non-option. Time to get more custom.

i decided on the Glorious GMMK Pro since i really like the layout and i feel its a good entry to start with. 

So what i need is more SMOOTH and less heavy switches! also i want them to be accessible in the market and not overpriced

i currently own Epomaker GK68X, i guess it's good for the budget but i am into more premium feeling stuff with great built quality and aluminum frame. My current switches are Gateron blacks!

 I had no fitment issues putting in the durock v2s. Honestly for the price, just get those so you don't have to disassemble your whole bored again later.

 I think the price is totally worth it!  I did end up buying the durock v2 stabilizers here on Amazon and I think that upgrade is a must before you assemble your board. The stock stabilizers were over lubed and just not great. I had no fitment issues putting in the durock v2s. Honestly for the price, just get those so you don't have to disassemble your whole bored again later

My first custom keyboard!

 The replacement is exactly the same as the first and has the same issue, so that’s going to need some reworking on their side.. I think injection molded plates are the way to go when you’re planning on making a lot of them, but they’ll need to resolve some of these issues before it’s viable.

. It seems like alignment was a big focus here, which is interesting, since seamless cases tend to not have this issue much. Nevertheless refreshing to see, while certain enthusiast customs have pieces that slide all over the place.

 I want to drive this point home because some people were calling me a shill for saying some positive things. But if people are going to have such a blatant misunderstanding of how this works, then what’s even the point to turning down all of those free products and sponsorships, The GMMK Pro takes on a pretty safe design. It’s got some medium thick bezels to make room for The foam strips with moderately rounded corners., One weird thing I noticed was that the cutouts on the top are more rounded than I’m used to
