Gerber Vital Skin & Gut Knife Fixed Blade vs Glock 78 Field Knife

3rd and last Gerber. I like the design but I'm tired of how DULL Gerber knives come. I can buy cheap Chinese junk at a flea market that comes sharper than any Gerber I have ever bought. I don't know why Gerber doesn't sharpen their knives! For now on I'll just buy from a different company that actually sends out a SHARP blade

Didn't stop me from going bow hunting two days later and using it. Works great, nice knife grip design.

Low cost is nice - think of it as a large version of a Mora knife - very handy and useful without breaking the bank. I didn't purposely abuse it but like some knuckleheads would but I did use it in the field under harsh conditions. It shows wear and tear and I now keep it as a souvenir from that time in my career. I love every nick and scratch on the sheath and and handle and the wear on the blade

Cheap stamped our pot metal blade that if made of wood might hold an edge better. Lost it's edge after getting halfway through skinning out a feral hog. This could such a good blade if made from better metal and by people who give a damn about quality. The gut hook is sharpened on one side

The biggest pro, is that at a 30 dollar price range, the sheath is out of this world, I'm not giving Glock too much credit for it, but even manufacturers with very high quality blades often have terrible sheaths that cost 60 dollars to replace. The Sheath is lightweight, easy to put on your belt (don't have to take your belt off) the blade clicks in solidly, and can be undone quickly with one hand. The sheath is what makes this knife.

I bought this for the handle design. Easier to hold on to with my arthritic thumbs. The blade makes skinning a breeze and the price is great!

Buck 119/120 if you can subdue it. Buck 104, but getting up to $100. These are light and stronger than they look.
