Gerber Versafix Pro 14" Machete Fixed Blade Knife vs ESEE Junglas Black

It’s an open faced sheath basically. Once the blade edge is in, it then the back edge “clicks” and locks in. Nothing to challenging but point being, it’s just not functioning. I’ve gotten around the fact that most knife sheathes are STILL made for right handers

The sheath is great, it's a kydex model with all the right attachments and capabilities, and retains the blade whether you have it strapped in over the handle or not - it's designed to hold the blade regardless. Now, I will say this: you lose out if you decide to go the initially cheaper route and buy the Junglas by itself for $139 - then decide you want the kydex sheath separately. I considered doing this, but it's not smart. Why? Because the sheath sells here on Amazon for roughly $75, give or take a dollar

this is more of the reliable blade that can take a beating while still holding a decent blade at the end of the day. This I cant stress enough is not a blade you keep with you the whole time solely relying on it. I keep this and my strong arm with me when hiking. that's how I feel about this tool

They're not just throwing junk together and collecting a paycheck. The blade is thick and very strong and comes out of the box sharp enough to shave your arm hair. It pulled the hair a little but with a handful of passes on my spyderco sharpmaker it was smooth and just rolled the hair off! This thing is scary sharp for being as big as it is. The handles are beautiful and offer great grip

With winter gloves on, the handle is a bit slippery. Definitely attach a paracord loop for safety when using it. Other than those few complaints, it works incredibly well- for the price range you won't beat it.

I researched a lot of large knives and could not find an overall better deal. I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and with Amazon primes 2 day shipping I ordered on Friday and received it on Sunday.

I recommend it for size and light duty use only. If looking for something much stronger and heavier-duty, stick to Rowen or TOPS. For my purposes and observations of its general use, only three stars.

.Micarta handle feel good in the hand and will be adding a paracord lanyard as additional safety.

So far, it’s been a great piece and has survived the abuse my junior woodsman has given it.

It has excelled for almost two seasons of chopping and splitting seasoned black locust, one of the hardest domestic woods in America. I have NEVER chipped or rolled this edge on wood of any kind, no matter how hard or dry. And although I do enjoy Ontario Knives, the Junglas’ black coating lasts months longer. The sheath is near equal to custom kydex with dozens of mounting options, and adjustable tightness

This is USELESS due to the sheath. What a joke. Returning Immediately. DO NOT BUY THIS
