Gerber Auto Covert Automatic Knife vs Kershaw Emerson CQC-7K Tanto Knife Black G-10

Gerber auto is the worst knife I've ever bought. It is pure garbage and gerber should shut its fucking doors. Looks like a blind child made it, nothingnis straight, it came butter knife sharp, and the action literally doesnt work.

The only reason I did not give it one star, is I am not one of those angry reviewers that thinks the number scaled goes 1, x, x, x, 5... Yes, the fit and finish are good, the two tone polish is cool, the lockup is very solid, the BLADE steel is quality and the handle materials are quality

good quality knife as far as the material, but it scratches the blade when it opens, the lock mechanism works ok, i think it was just that knife i probably, it has a lifetime warranty so when i take it back i will probably get a better one, if you want a nice switch blade, i would reccomend this or the off grid rapid fire ranger.

But for <$30 I can't really complain. I will carry this with me every day. Factory edge isn't great but most people put their own edge on knifes so that isn't a factor in reviewing, for me.

They also have a line made in the US which is of higher quality but costs quite a bit more. I will be buying the American made version of this knife at around $150.00. It's a decent knife if the price was a little lower

It failed under very minor pressure. When I first received the knife right away I was concerned about the durability and overall safety of the knife. Knowing it was probably a bad situation just waiting to strike I used it with extreme care. I had no idea it would fail at such a low tolerance of use

The second knife seems solid at this point, but I know I'll be watching it closely for the first few outings as the lock "wears in". Waving the blade open is hard on the lockup to begin with. If this one starts to slip, then I'll have to send it back as well.

Also it is heavy compared to my other Gerber assisted opening knives. But it cuts smooth.

For most people this knife may be a bit on the heavy side for EDC but personally I love it. Unfortunately the steel doesn't hold a razor sharp edge for long but it does well enough for daily use and at the price point you cant beat it. Overall I love this knife but for EDC I honestly wish I would have went with something smaller. Eventually I may purchase the 2k but for now I'll stick with this knife

Part of the difference between the Gerbers is that the mini covert uses a fiberglass filled nylon that feels more dense than the G-10 handle of the 22-01966. I guess a good way of explaining the difference in "feel" is to say that I fear that if I dropped this knife that the handle material would crack. Luckily, since Gerber backs up their products with a lifetime warranty, I really don't need to worry too much about it, plus from what I read G-10 is tougher than it feels!

This knife was an impulse buy, as I already own the CQC-5K, but that Emerson Wave feature is irresistable! The knife has a great feel in the hand and the tanto blade is sharp with a tight lockup. I am not a framelock fan, aesthetically speaking, but it is starting to grow on me. The only reason I gave it four stars is due to the handle length. The CQC-5K handle was barely over 4 inches, and this knife is slightly longer, but I would prefer a handle length closer to 5 inches, having large hands
