these switches are probably the best ones if you are on a budget. tbh they are really good stock but I wanted to go the extra mile and lube them myself and they sound even better even though they were kind already factory lubed. I 100% would recommend these.

I used this for my first keboard build

My usual budget recommendation is a plastic 60% case, DZ60 and a plate of your choice from KBDfans. Cherry screw-in stabilizers, Gateron Milky top Yellow switches and a cheap set of PBT keycaps from Aliexpress.

Recently, I have been doing research on building a keyboard for myself, but honestly I just don't know how to start, so I'm asking yall!

 All I really am looking for is a hotswappable keyboard with decent linear switches. Im hoping to spend no more than $120. Is that an ok budget for a (at least partly) custom keyboard?

PBT key caps ISO - budget, ideally calm aesthetic look. Not transparent, I will turn off the RGB in GMMK.

I believe I will enjoy the linear, light-press and low-sound experience of these switches in a GMMK dampened.

Why is an incline considered an improvement? Looking at the Keychron K2 revised version. I've always preferred to type with feet down, for a more natural angle of the wrist. Surely it's mostly preference, but what is the argument for an incline from a comfort/ergonomics standpoint? Always thought it's just to see what you're pressing on easier.

Hi everyone! I am new to the community and would like to get some help on picking the right keyboard.

I am looking for a 65% - tkl ( ideally 75%)

My required features are wireless and hotswap and something that won't break the bank.

I just got the YUNZII KC84 and tested the GMMK Full keyboard. The KCj84 are red gaterons while the GMMK were browns. The YUNZII felt "better" in terms of build and typing, like the caps were more rigid instead of plasticy like the GMMK, although they seemed like the same keycaps. The spacing on the KC84 was more compact, but made it seem more stable. The GMMK had more space between but every time the key came up, it rattled. Is this because of switches, caps, or maybe the board itself? Anyways, i'm going to test blues on the KC84 to see what I like. I like the red's sound, but it's a little too sensitive, the short actuation made me mistype a lot. The browns were a pretty good sensitivity and actuation, but just didn't sound and feel nice. I was getting \~10 wpm more on the browns. Any advice given this, on a good keyboard and switches? I'm favoring the 75% vs full know, but tkl is not bad. I like the KC84's spacing of the F buttons, it's jsut as compact as the number row, unlike other kb's where the f is noticeably separate.

I'm looking for a wireless mechanical keyboard that I can switch between multiple PCs to clear up my desk space.


I need a full layout keyboard, and I do a lot of graphics intensive work that relies on a lot of funny hotkey combinations. 


I do not want an ergonomic shape, but I do tend to put pressure on my wrist which I use a pad for, a included rest is ok, but hopefully removable so I can use my current comfortable pad if a included one doesn't work out. 


Thanks in advance for any pointers! There's a lot out there and was feeling lost, budget is hopefully around ~$135.

* works great - I have seen some posts in this sub about LEDs dying and/or getting stuck on, entire keys not working, entire keyboard not working but I have had zero functionality issues with mine. After a little research watching some youtube comparison videos and after discussion with a friend who is into mech kb at an "enthusiast" level I decided that browns were right for me (tactile bump, no click) so I went with Kailh box brown as it was the only brown the vendor I purchased from had in stock at the time. I love them and will most likely get Kailh box brown (or equivalent) on my next kb.

* solid construction - keys/switches feel very stable, the whole keyboard has a satisfying amount of weight to it despite being a plastic case
