I just got diagnosed with carpal tunnel, and I’m looking for a good ergonomic keyboard to help with it. I’m completely ignorant when it comes to keyboards. I’ve searched through a lot of the posts on the sub, and it seems a lot of people recommend the Ergodox EZ. I still have a few questions though:

1) That’s the one I’ve seen the most, but I’d like to hear other suggestions if you have them. I’m looking for something than can be physically split (like the ergodox can), has padding for my wrists, and can be/ has an ergonomic bend where my wrists don’t have to bend too much (something like the Kinesis Advantage 2). What would you all recommend?

2) The Ergodox has all the keys in a grid instead of shifted like normal keyboards. Would this make it hard to type?

3) What key switches would you recommend? I’ve only ever types with laptop keyboards (which I guess are called membrane keyboards), so those are the ones I’m most comfortable with. What key switches would be similar to that or help me with carpal tunnel? 

4) The mini quiz on the Ergodox site suggested kailh copper or kailh silver. Would those be good for my needs or have a similar feel to a membrane keyboard?

If any of you could answer any or all of these questions I’d really appreciate it!

Ducky One 2 TKL vs Leopold FC750r? 

Popular mech keyboards are kinda hard to come by where I live, but I’ve been eyeing the Ducky One 2 TKL for a while now (been waiting for them to restock in my local store’s ecommerce for like a month now). I’ve heard that Leopold has excellent build quality and the FC750r is the only one locally available in my country (only became available a few hours ago) and mechanicalkeyboards.com doesnt ship to my country. 

Which one is overall better? I like that both have some built in cable routing since I dont have a lot of desk space. I’m still leaning towards Ducky since I’d prefer to have some sort of backlighting as I normally type/play in the dark, but it’s been out of stock for a while now and I have no idea when it’ll restock. The Leopold’s micro usb cable also makes me lean more to Ducky since I’ve heard that usb-c is much better and more future proof.

So I've been using an Apple aluminum keyboard for years and years and bought a Ducky keyboard looking forward to the joy of mechanical. And cause I came from apple, I am used to using Ctrl in place of the alt key and what I realized was the Ducky's Alt key isn't aligned with the X button [as you can see here](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e1/Apple_Keyboard_with_Numeric_Keyboard_9612.jpg).

What I am wondering is if there are any mechanical keyboards out there with a longer alt key that is aligned with the x button above it. I can't go back to using my pinky to hit ctrl. Just feels weird!

I’m more interested in a hot-swappable TKL for coding since it’s going to be more for research and coding than gaming and it being hot-swappable would let me search for the best switch for me. Also, going TKL over full because I’ve read it’s more ergonomic and I’m recovering from a shoulder injury. Just ordered a Leopold FC660C. Want to get a wood wrist rest for it but the size is a bit in the middle of standard sizes.  

Etsy has a couple of folks who make them in custom sizes.  Width isn’t a problem but what is the height to the top of the front of the case?

Or if there is anyone selling them already sized right?

I really don't know what to pick,  Epomaker GK88XS, some board from Keychron, but I read some kinda bad reviews about lots of them, and the most expensive option being the Logitech G915 TKL. Which should I choose? Or there are any other options? Thanks!

Bought a switch tester to try and get a better sense of the type of switch I'd like, and I'm looking for advice and recommendations based on my initial impressions.

So my main goal is to get a relatively quiet board with a satisfying typing experience. At first I thought this meant getting a silent linear, but I've found myself second guessing. Here's a breakdown of what I've tried:

- Gateron black: Pretty good. Feels smooth with some body to it.
- Gateron red: Also alright, comparable to black but a bit lighter in touch.
- Gateron brown: Not a fan, has an empty/scratchy feel to it that vibrates too much.
- Gateron blue: Actually my favorite feeling switch of the lot, really satisfying feedback.
- Gateron clear: Least favorite, feels way too mushy.
- Gateron green: Comparable to blue, but I don't like the weightiness/height of the bump.
- Gateron yellow: Not bad, I like this alongside the black.
- Zealios: Way too heavy, my fingers would get tired typing on this.
- Tealios: I like this better than the Zealios, comparable to gateron blacks IMO.
- Gateron silent black: It's good, but feels a bit wobbly and mushy.
- Gateron silent red: Similar to silent black.
- Gateron silent brown: Pass.

Judging by my desire to get something quiet, my mind is telling me that silent black (wish I could try the silent ink blacks) or something of the same silent linear style switch would be the way to go. However, I keep going back to the gateron blues because it feels so good to press - but it's too loud, and I need something quiet for night time typing and when I eventually go back to the office.

Are those two characteristics usually at odds with one another, or could I look into a nice silent tactile? Wasn't a fan of zilents when I tried them on my friend's board as I think they're a bit heavy, but I've heard good things about the U4 Bobas. I've also heard good things about the silent alpacas, are those closest in feel to the silent blacks?

I'm looking to buy my dad a nice
mechanical keyboard for use at work.
While he is working at home, I've
noticed he has a cheap worn-out
membrane keyboard on which he types
for hours at a time. The issue is
that I don't know which switches to
get for him. I'm thinking Cherry MX
Black Silents would work best, as
they take more force to actuate and
are quiet (not being too loud is a
must, I want him to still be able
to use it when he goes back to the
office without distracting everyone
around him).
          However, Black switches are
linear, and I've heard that tactile
switches are much better for typing.
I have a keyboard with tactile (Razer
green) switches, and they're much too
loud. For that reason, I'm nervous to
go for a tactile switch, however I
might have to find a middle ground if
linear switches are in fact not that
great for typing.
          So, I'm here to get some
feedback from people with experience.

I got my first mechanical keyboard this week, the anne pro 2. i intended to use it with my laptop, connected via usb. no issues plugging it in, however, after i shut down my laptop and start it up again, the keyboard is not recognized by the laptop, which seems to be an issue. I have googled and there doesn't seem to be a 100% fix to this issue. i tried changing the BIOS portion, tried installing the second latest firmware then latest firmware, changed the usb cable, but they all do not work. I suspect the issue is with the disk drive. cos whenever i start up my laptop, i check the devices connected to it and the anne pro 2 usb always becomes unrecognized/have an error/failure upon start up. i have no idea how else to fix this (a suggestion was to update the firmware which I tried but still didn't work). i am honestly quite disappointed. i had been deciding between a few 60% keyboards before deciding on this and watched/read a few reviews, but didn't see anyone mentioning such an issue. does anyone know of any other way?

<div class="md"><p>I got my first mechanical keyboard this week, the anne pro 2. i intended to use it with my laptop, connected via usb. no issues plugging it in, however, after i shut down my laptop and start it up again, the keyboard is not recognized by the laptop, which seems to be an issue. I have googled and there doesn&#39;t seem to be a 100% fix to this issue. i tried changing the BIOS portion, tried installing the second latest firmware then latest firmware, changed the usb cable, but they all do not work. I suspect the issue is with the disk drive. cos whenever i start up my laptop, i check the devices connected to it and the anne pro 2 usb always becomes unrecognized/have an error/failure upon start up. i have no idea how else to fix this (a suggestion was to update the firmware which I tried but still didn&#39;t work). i am honestly quite disappointed. i had been deciding between a few 60% keyboards before deciding on this and watched/read a few reviews, but didn&#39;t see anyone mentioning such an issue. does anyone know of any other way?</p>

So it's my first time dipping my feet into this glorious world and I ended up going with the grey/blue Leopold FC750R with silent reds off of mechanicalkeyboards.com but I'm having trouble finding a matching usb cable that would pair with it color-wise.

Anyone using this have any suggestions? The DIY route is my last resort as I have a disability that makes working with my hands rather tedious. Thanks for any help!

Hi, I've been recently planning and researching to build my first custom keyboard.

I've decided on getting the GMMK Pro as case, and I've learned that the stock stabs aren't really that good. After reading/watching numerous videos and posts on reddit, I've come to a conclusion that the C3 Equalz stabs will be the right choice for me... (runner-up was Durock V2) but I have a few questions:

* Is "Equalz" the brand/company name? Do they have an official website of sorts where they have listings of latest iterations? All I can find online are seemingly individual sellers.
* Is the "C3 Equalz X TKC" stabs supposed to be the same thing? Or is it a one-time collab between two companies thus products are limited in quantity?
* Are the 'normal' Equalz stabs being made as of now? If so, what's the latest revision? V2? V3?
* If so, are there any places I could possibly get one in 'plain' colors (white/black)? All I see in stock seem to be in... vibrant colors. I'd personally prefer if they didn't stand out too much when placed alongside the switches.

Quick question for folks more in touch with what's current.. I'm looking to put together (or buy) a 75% bluetooth layout keyboard - I am VERY close to pulling the trigger on a Keychron K2 since it ticks almost every box, however before I do it - I wanted to reach out and see if there's anything else out there I might be able to put together (I've been soldering for years, so that doesn't scare me, and I've built 3 boards from PCB up now).. Also, I've got an embarrassing amount of keycaps already, so I don't need those lol.

wants:

\-  75% US ISO layout 

\- Bluetooth (4+)

\- Programmable firmware (QMK compatible would be a+), or programmable enough that I can move the super, function, alt/meta and page up/down keys around.  Oh, and if I can put control where the universe intended it to be, that'd be a plus too (if you haven't been converted yet, imagine that disgusting, unused caps-lock key on your keyboard as your left-control, and welcome to the club.)

\- either a great switch selection, hot swap, or bring my own switches  (I've been using zilent 62's - and while I tend to bottom out with them, it's just the way my fingers learned to type, so I'm comfy with it -  if anyone knows anything better I should check out, lmk!)

\- Aluminum / heavy case + plate (foam preferred, but I can add this myself later)

\- decent stabs if it's a prebuilt (and I'm on the hunt for better ones in my other boards as well, so thoughts here are also appreciated)

\- I'd like to keep it total under 250 bucks if I can (without caps) - obviously the cheaper the better.

I'm planning on buying the Ducky One 2 SF but I'm not a fan of the decal on the spacebar or the red enter so I'm wondering where I can find white, backlit keycaps to replace the 2. They're 6.25u and 2u respectively. Alternatively, if it's too hard to find keycaps that fit I was considering buying a full set of pudding keycaps but my concern is the non-standard modifier keys in the bottom right. The RALT and Fn keys are 1u and the RSHIFT is 2u.

I've been using Tecware Phantom RGB tkl for the past couples of years, there's nothing wrong with it just looking to upgrade. I'm not very familiar with mechanical keyboard but I've done some research but I have no clue what's good so I'm hoping to get some opinions here.

I have the option to buy a used GMMK Pro for $250 that includes: (1) Aqua Zilent Switches, (2) Durock stabs, (3) Coiled cable, (4) ABS DOUBLESHOT Keycaps, (5) Carrying case.

 Now with the reviews for the Keychron Q1 coming out, not sure if it would be better to go that route. I know most people here haven't been able to test it, but would you still hop on the GMMK for that price?

So I am modding a Keychron K2 non hot-swap and I realized that I might want to go hunt around and find the perfect switch or switch my switches out in the future. So I was wondering if I could put hot-swap sockets on the board instead of soldering the new switches in. Is that reasonable for someone who wants to try lots of switches without buying a desoldering gun? If so, how and what sockets can I use?

I bought a Ducky One 2 SF and noticed that some of the key caps had places where the backlight wouldn't show. For example the [%](https://i.imgur.com/Lnl8RUR.jpg). Taking it out I saw that it has like a [black stain](https://i.imgur.com/1yW4AUT.jpg) that I cannot get rid off. Is this normal? I hope it's not, but I am not sure if this is something I should return or get warranty for or just leave it
