This one is just like the midea u, it cools depending on the temperature outside not inside.  Since i’ve lots of electronics it gets hot in my room. The ac only used under 5 amps and not cooling much if its hotter outside it cools more but then it would be hotter in my room whats the point? Ill pass on this and the midea u, would like to try the lg dual inverter but something tells me its the same.

Bad cooling design

 It's like sitting in a freezer with the fan pointed at me. SWING - only goes up and down. I was actually hoping for side to side QUIET - Right in front of it it sounds like wind. Can't hear it down the hallway or in the bedroom at the other end of a 44x24 split level house

  We've run it a couple of days and so far and I was very pleased. Not sure if it would take care of our whole house in 90 degree temps but didn't really expect it to do that, in the 80's it did fine. You all would know that better than me.  I'm not really sure if that's because I got a bad egg or if it's just an engineering issue. The AC seems to cycle between 300-1350 watts. Most of the time it's between 900-950 watts even when I'm trying to get it to run at full power. After it gets close to the set temp it will cycle down and settle at around 300 watts consistently unless it cant keep the temp and needs to cycle back up

Worked well when it did what it was supposed to...

 We also have poor insulation which is something we’ve had to try and tackle ourselves.  In the end we got fed up of running the homes existing AC system because it was simply too expensive and opted to get a Window/Portable AC. The windows on our home are very flimsy and not at all suited for window units sadly and frankly we weren’t too keen on having to drill into things, worry about them falling out and having the hassle of having to bring them in every other season. So we opted to go for a portable

 Single hose units suck in air from the room which creates negative pressure in the room and pulling in hot air from either gaps/cracks in the doors/windows and blows all the hot air out the single hose. The single vent hose gets very hot - so between the negative pressure pulling in heat and the hot hose these single hose units have to try and fight those two things to keep the room cool which can REALLY lower their efficiency. Hence why you’ll see units advertise 14,000 BTU’s then in brackets have a lower BTU usually half of the first BTU rating. The second BTU number is the SAAC rating which basically takes into account the heat pulled into the room from the negative pressure and the hose and tells you how efficient it is

So starting off, this Summer has been BRUTAL with EVERY single day in July/August over 100f and May/June being high 90 and low 100’s. The AC systems in our homes were struggling and racking up the bill with us spending often $9-11 a day to cool with both helping each other. We also have poor insulation which is something we’ve had to try and tackle ourselves.  In the end we got fed up of running the homes existing AC system because it was simply too expensive and opted to get a Window/Portable AC

My FAVORITE Portable AC!

I purchased this air conditioner to cool down our bedroom at night so I don't need run central air and cool the whole house just to keep the bedroom temperature comfortable. The unit easily cuts trough the Wisconsin summer heat and humidity and cools not just the bedroom (approx. 150 sq. ft

 I sent it back and did not order a new unit because I am not confident that it would be quieter. Had they not made that comparison to the fridge, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place because I understand how loud the individual parts (condenser, fan, etc.) are. The reason why they have a highly-rated window unit is because they move these loud parts outside

 Interestingly, they asked me about unusual noises (rattling, high-pitch, etc.) while I maintained that nothing seems to rattle or squeak , it is just very loud. Then, over the phone, the rep listened to the unit and said it does not sound right and I should send it back. They did not mention that I should get a replacement and that my unit might be unusually loud (that cannot be judged over the phone anyway)

) but also the hallway and parts of an adjacent office. Installation was not a big issue. All parts snap in easily, and I did not find the manual confusing at all. So, that is all good

Great Cooling but Loud

Noise: when it comes to AC noise, pitch is everything. Louder/quieter is not as meaningful. This unit has a low hum that isn’t quiet but it doesn’t have annoying frequency to it so sleeping with it running isn’t a problem. It has a continuous fan option in the AC mode

Quiet but a pain to put in

Ok, the unit arrived, boy howdy, it's big and heavy. But, installation is easy, the "snorkel" to route the warm air through a windows is solid/sturdy and adequate. The window slider to fit different size windows was solid and definitely wide enough for nearly every windows. So far so good
