  Sadly it doesn't have a built in hardware limiter as far as I can tell, which I've heard from a few sources is superior to a software limiter (I'm not sure why it doesn't work nearly as well). That would have definitely been a nice feature but I get the impression those are only found in more expensive equipment, something to consider.  This unit doesn't provide quite as much gain as I would personally like. It would be nice if there was quite a bit of extra headroom to keep the gain low and in turn the background noise low

I am personally a newbie to audio interfaces and this is my first venture into this type of product. I feel like I've got a relatively good ear for music and discerning different audio equipment. To me the background noise when it is set to a high gain is pretty impressively low. Now I really haven't owned a variety of audio interfaces or have major experience with recording equipment so take that with a grain of salt

  This unit doesn't provide quite as much gain as I would personally like. It would be nice if there was quite a bit of extra headroom to keep the gain low and in turn the background noise low. I'm running an SM58, I don't have a huge amount of experience with other mics so I don't know if that is a particularly gain hungry mic, I didn't think so but maybe ill get a better idea later. Possibly more gain is something I would get with more expensive gear, I should really research that more in the future

Is The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Studio 3rd Gen Worth it ?! (A Honest Review)

So basically I want to be able to record my guitar amp Roland JC-22  into Logic via the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface, however when I do this by connecting the amp line outs into the focusrite's inputs, it just sounds terrible- really tinny and weird. It sounds much better just recording direct from the guitar pedals into the focusrite.

I recently purchased the Scarlett solo 3rd gen for recording my bass guitar. I ended up having to return it as the audio would only playback on the left and I couldn’t seem to fix the unwanted distortion issue from the unit itself. I was recommended to purchase a Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 or a Focusrite 2i2 instead.

My search continues for a device that allows me to record a bass line on my PC!  (I am curious how much money I will have to spend in the end, for what should be a simple task)

 I would rate them as a neutral sound, with perhaps just a slight hint of darkness to them. Hands-down, the price performance leader according to my own research.

I love this interface and its available inputs/outputs cover all my needs as an independent home producer. I only have two complaints related to the design. First is that you have to use the Focusrite Control software interface which is not very intuitive - the manual needs to provide more examples of various setups using the software. Secondly, the four 1/4" TRS line output jacks on the back of the unit do not securely hold the cable plugs and two or three times a month I lose connection with my studio monitors and have to reseat them

 Today I'm going to do a quick unboxing and review of the Focusrite Scarlett 4i4

 I've bought this myself, so this review is not sponsored in any way whatsoever.

 This is one of the best selling audio interfaces out there. The Scarlett range,

 just like their previous models, are well known for good sound quality,

 good quality preamps and low noise. They all come with a superb low latency ASIO

 driver which makes recording a breeze. This is a great interface for beginners and professionals

 alike. The biggest difference between this and the cheaper Scarlett Solo is that it has

 more inputs and outputs, and unlike the Solo, this also has a separate volume knob for your

 headphones as well as a loopback function, which I'll talk about more in a bit.

 When you open the box you'll find the interface itself, a USB cable and some documentation.

 The casing is made of metal, and the overall build quality feels pretty solid.

 It also looks quite nice. On the front we have two XLR combo inputs,

 which means that you can plug in either microphones or guitars for example.
