   I could probably get away with a large but I like the added length and I also wanted layers.  doesn't feel too big.  I like a longer/taller fit in a jacket.   snow skirt works well plus there is a cinched

I am a telemark skier, so want to be able to dump that heat, and athletic.  I will go BC and skin later this winter and I know this shell will be perfect.  I like the layering as opposed to a jacket with a liner.  I think I can get an overall lighter set up with shell and lightweight puffy down vest/jacket

I love the style and the look, but this jacket just seemed like way too thin for me to use.  I wanted to keep, it but ultimately sent it back with the tags on.  It was so thin that it barely felt different than an ultralight rain jacket that I have.  Even the main zipper pockets just go straight to thin mesh

I'm an amateur hiker/backpacker and love going on local trips. Although I'd definitely aim for mountaineering in the near future, first Id like to hike all the hike-able or trekkable mountains in the country I reside in, then move to that category.

That has been going pretty good so far, but since I've been doing it for quite a few years now, I feel like I should invest more into my gear a bit to make these hikes just a tad more enjoyable. Recently went as light as possible, replacing a lot of weight (oops), but one of my biggest issues always been a light jacket that can do the following: protect from surprise wind/shade/light rain in summer, when it makes you just a bit cold to make t-shirts uncomfortable but not to take it off every time the sun comes back up for 2 minutes because Im sweating. Lots of times I'd get on the summit or in a shady forest and it'd be chilly, Id grab a softshell but immediately started sweating if it got warmer a bit. Id also like to use it when camping, or early in the morning on top of a down jacket for extra protection.

Will the gamma SL suit me? 

TLDR: Need a light jacket for surprise weather shifts (shade, light shower, windy summit) without having to take it off every time the sun comes back up / on top of other layers for extra protection.
