Expert lady skiers will love the performance and value from the Volkl Secret 96 women's skis with bindings. This is a fantastic setup for all-mountain skiers who are looking for the ultimate in versatility. The big thing about these Secret 96 skis is that they're a virtual twin to the men's Mantra M6, just with a different graphic and available sizes. Other than that, you're getting the same burly ski, but with some nice updates that'll make the ski more accessible and a bit less work than before. Built with Volkl's Multi-Layer wood core, the skis are strong and stable. On top of that wood core you'll find Volkl's Tailored Titanal Frame, which varies the width and length of the metal depending on the size of the ski. This puts more metal in the longer sizes, making it better suited for larger or more aggressive skiers. Additionally, they use their Tailored Carbon Tips to achieve much of the same effect, but the carbon tips allow for more precise initiation into the turn, as those carbon stringers are pretty stiff and really make the ski engage when tipped in. If those two attributes weren't enough, the 3D Radius Sidecut should put it over the edge when it comes to a customized feel. You can make any shape turn at any time due to this technology, and the coolest part about it is that it works.

The new Volkl Secret 96 is a versatile all-mountain ski with a penchant for speed and grip. We could take this ski anywhere, at any speed, and feel confident that it would maintain course and do so with style. Whether dropping into a steep couloir or mobbing down the groomer back to the chair, this ski had our backs and built our confidence. It feels as though it is a quality-made ski, not surprising from this manufacturer, and its construction remains steady all along the length of the ski from tip to tail. While it topped our charts for stability, it also performed well in nearly every other metric, making it an excellent choice for anyone wanting to ski the entire mountain in any condition.
The same qualities that make this ski so reliable at speed and in the steeps result in it being not particularly agile in trees or bumps. And while Volkl has made a concerted effort to construct the shorter skis a bit softer for smaller ladies, our testers found that even their appropriate length ski was fairly burly. We also missed the nearly perfect all-mountain all-rounder nature of the discontinued Secret 92, but most of us took our consolation in a very dependable and well-built ski.

 So if you want to hear a little bit more or read a little bit more in the write-up for the mantra, we went into a lot of detail about the construction of the ski. Why it's unique so that all kind of carries over into the secret. So we invite you to check out the mantra review if you haven't already, but yes, another brand new ski for vocal for 2019. This is essentially the women's version

 Here I wouldn't say this is a replacement for the aura, like the mantra is a replacement for the mantra. The aura is gone from the vocal line, but at 92 underfoot to me this is a little bit more more significantly different than the aura and say the new mantra is from the the previous mantra. But you know it is it's a great ski and it kind of did definitely everything. We said about the mantra compared to the previous mantra

 But these this new construction - and you could say this about the m5 mantra or this new secret - much much bigger, sweet spot. You can ski it in a more balanced stance, in my opinion, a little bit easier to keep your weight forward on this ski than it was on the previous version of the mantra, or in this case the flora which that brings me to an interesting, interesting topic. Here I wouldn't say this is a replacement for the aura, like the mantra is a replacement for the mantra. 2019 Volkl Secret Women's Ski Review

For a fatter ski the secret 96 volkl since you seem more cruise mood than charge would be a good option for that spring slush we get. at the end of the day if you felt good on the blizzards 88s then that's a good ski for you.

The ratio of fun to terror when it comes to skiing has finally swung in the right direction for me this past season and I bought my first pair of boots (Technica Mach1 - 105). I'm now in the market for my first pair of skis and could use some help from you fine folks of reddit. Some stats about me:

* Female - 30yo - 5'2" - 135lbs (although 10lbs was put on during covid and I'm hoping to be back to 125lbs by the next ski season)
* Started skiing a few years ago and have been taking 2-3 lessons per season.
* I ski mostly in Tahoe (Palisades) and Utah (Alta/Snowbird); got \~14 days in this past year and have decided to buy the Icon Pass for this upcoming season to try to get even more days in.
* Been progressing and feeling more confident on blues, and skied 3 easier black runs on my last few trips.
* Type 2 skiier. I haven't necessarily been going fast on anything and like to be in control and take my time. Maybe this will change as I grow more confident.
* While I've mostly been on groomers, my partner is an expert skier (ex-racer) who also likes to explore off-piste. I've started to try out some powder, trees and gullies with him and would like to progress to doing those sometimes as well.

I'm looking for an all-mountain ski that will let me progress on-piste for most of the time, but also let me explore a bit of powder, trees, etc to see if I enjoy it and learn those skills as well. My thought is that if I start really enjoying powder, off-piste, etc and start spending more than 50% of my days in them, I can buy additional skis down the line.

This past weekend at Palisades (spring skiing that was super slushy and melty, we stayed on the groomers), I demo'd a few skiis. I wanted to like the Icelantic Riveters but didn't feel confident or in control on the 85s or 95s at all. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to try out the Nordica Santa Anas cause they were on the mountain with other folks every time I went back to see if they were there. I did try the Nordica Unleashed 98 (new ski for this year?) and felt okay on them, better than the Riveters. My final laps were on the Blizzard Black Pearl 88s and it was the best and most confident I felt all day.

I really wish I had a chance to try out the Santa Anas because I admittedly love the top sheets more than the Black Pearls. That being said, if the Black Pearls are just the right ski than of course I'll get them. From what I've read, the Black Pearls might be easier to ski on but would love some thoughts from anyone who can compare the two. So I guess my questions are:

* How different do the Black Pearls and Santa Anas ski? Would you suggest one over the other?
* Should I be getting 88s? Or 97s?
* What length would you recommend for me?
* Do bindings make a big difference for how something skis and releases?

Help Buying 1st Pair of Skis - Black Pearls or Santa Anas?

 Without being you know it around. It'S a really smooth and precise and stable ride for more information check us out on youtube or follow us on youtube or check us out at skiessentials.com. You 

 You can actually see in the construction. I love the top sheet of this. You can really see the construction of that 3d gla, sorry, the tetino frame and that tailored tip they use binding reinforcement underneath to help with binding retention, and then they also have their 3d radius construction and basically, what that means is, if you want to make big Large gs turns you're going to be able to get it on edge and have a long, effective edge, but you're also going to be able to make shorter turns with that different radius. As you, how you flex the ski on the snow, that 3d radius, along with the tip and a little bit of tail rise, is going to be really great for the inbounds skier, but also with the 96 waist you're going to be able to go out of Bounds if you'd like this ski, the secret 96, is definitely geared more towards an aggressive lady with the metal construction in there is definitely stiff and likes a higher performance skier, but they have definitely reduced the weight and made it a little bit more forgiving than say A couple years ago, when they used two sheets of metal in the construction, but again it's still meant for an advanced lady, where i would take it

 These are they're different, though same same, but difficult are you on. Are we on we're on we're on? These? Are the both last time secret right? That'S pretty good vocal secret 96, slightly different version of what i was on lifetime hi skiers, aly here from skiescentrals.com with our 2022 ski test in front of me, i have vocals secret 96, which has some of their new technology in the construction. That'S it in their all-mountain category and it's a great resort and out-of-bound ski for an advanced lady construction

If you're an advanced intermediate to expert skier, I definitely would recommend this ski for you.

It's got a carbon tip which makes it really lightweight and makes the turn

really easy to make. You can really put a lot of power into your turns. It handles speed

really well and was a really fun overall ski. I definitely would

recommend this if you're that advanced to expert level skier looks for a really fun all-mountain ski.

 It also absorbs that energy in the tips so that if you are hitting that crud late in the day, it's going to absorb that vibration through your legs. Also in the construction, they have the titanal band underneath your foot. If you can see on the camera, they've made a couple of changes from last year. They've taken out a little bit of the metal in some areas, again to reduce that weight and add that flexibility

 For the average day where there's a little bit of crud or it's icy or anything like that, that 96 waist width, you're going to be able to get on edge and hold that edge whenever you want. Another one of Volkl's unique constructions is their 3D radius that they have throughout their lineups. What that means is that there's a different radius wherever you're flexing the ski. Right under your foot is going to be the tightest radius

 With that metal frame and that titanal band of the foot, it's pretty stiff and powerful. I reflected it as being a turbo ski, X-racer, someone who really knows what they're doing out there. It's going to be a little bit more demanding than the Yumi line or the Blaze line. The Yumi line does not have that metal, so it's a little bit more forgiving
