And here's something again that I want to say when you're not using these straps, they are not dangling in the wind and flapping in your face. So it's a very clean design on purpose, so that it respects you when they are in the wind

Women's Classic Jester day pack from The North Face

I have to walk about 3/4 a mile outside from where I park my car to my office in not a great neighborhood and wanted something to take my gym clothes, lunch and purse to and from my car. The color of the heather gray with the dark maroon is really pretty and the backpack is very comfortable but the section of the backpack where you store small things (like keys, wallet, cell phone, pens, headphones, chargers, ect) is way too small. You can hardly fit anything in there and I don't want to have to shove things that I want easy access to in the main pouch. It's okay for right now because it's not snowing but once I have to transport bulkier things, I'll need to upgrade

Cute but too small for a commuter backpack

 If you're aware of it, it's not difficult to avoid, but still not great. The main compartment has a good laptop pocket, but is otherwise undifferentiated. Stuff gets kind of lost in the space underneath the smaller secondary pocket.

 On the other hand, it does become top heavy. If the zippers are undone all the way, it will flop open under its own weight, spilling everything out of the pocket. If you're aware of it, it's not difficult to avoid, but still not great. The main compartment has a good laptop pocket, but is otherwise undifferentiated

High quality, stylish, and comfortable, but some design flaws.

 It'Ll reach a point too, where it's here to where it'll just unzip on its own. Almost if you have some weight in this front pocket, so you can see it's unzipping and then, after a while this front part will kind of just take over and flip down on its own, so again very very easy to unzip. And then let me just show you again like if you give this even a little bit of an opening, and then you start to to pull these apart. Let me just get it to that spot

 In the past - and there have been times when i've gotten home - and this is like kind of halfway open and again if it reaches that point - you're bouncing around it's just gon na open quite easily. So just note that i always stored the zippers on the side. When i was using it, and that made me feel a little bit more comfortable because they're down here, they're less likely to to pull apart when they're down here at the bottom. But i definitely didn't like that, and even like the north face borealis, which is just a little bit more, does use really great ykk zippers, so i would honestly opt for that instead of the gesture

 Now also, this takes up a lot of volume on the top, and then all this volume at the bottom is inside of the main compartment through the horseshoe zipper. So i'll show you that when i say horseshoe i mean that it doesn't go all the way down. Clamshell style it goes about to the middle, so that's horseshoe style and i was able to fit this packing cube in here with all that stuff in the front pocket. But it was really tight, and this is again where you run into that layering issue of it

 Another thing too, is like: if, if you have this front pocket open and this main pocket open, you really kind of run into that. This flies down. It'S kind of a chain reaction: this flies down quickly and then your stuff can fly out of here relatively easy as well. So just know that i you know kind of access these compartments independently

The North Face Jester Review (2 Weeks of Use)

True to color, came with North Face tags on it (read reviews before buying and some people received their backpack without North Face tags). Size is good, pictures made it look bigger/more roomy so kind of disappointed that it wasn't as big as I was thinking. I take a commuter train to work and was looking for a backpack that would hold all my stuff so I wasn't fighting my purse, a lunch box and a jacket. Comfortably fits my wallet, keys, lunch containers and my Bible in the laptop pouch

 It broke on my first trip. The chest straps are attached to the backpack straps with plastic clip things. Kind of hard to describe. Mine broke when I put my backpack on top of my rolling carry-on suitcase, and used the chest strap to secure it on the pull-out handle

I've been using TNF backpacks for years, and this is the first one I've felt iffy about. It's stylish and has more space that the old Jester model, especially because of the outermost pocket, but because it's only on the upper half, it makes the backpack oddly top-heavy. I like to keep random toiletries and what not in there, and don't always have it stuffed at the bottom, so it sinks in.  My biggest issue is the chest strap

 I don't believe they're Ykk I think they may be Sbs zippers and they're very smooth. It's easy to open the bag up, but they're almost too smooth, if that makes sense. So when you open the compartments, it can tend to kind of flop over because the zippers open up very easily. It's not a huge deal in my opinion
