 You've got a really smooth panel, it'll help to shed that snow and that ice. The harness is an auto-adjust harness so each shoulder strap will adjust individually so it'll automatically adjust to the user. It'll work with the user and it'll move with the user so it'll provide a really good amount of comfort throughout a long hard hike. Gregory Denali 75 Backpack

  I find the side access zip to be largely useless, because if I'm taking out much stuff out of my pack, usually I would operate from the top.  I suppose you could use it, but I find that I mostly use the lid and the top of the main compartment for my quick access storage.  The large water-bottle pockets are not as big when the pack is bulging, but they still hold a Nalgene very securely.  

     First off, I find it very comfortable.  I've used it with upwards of 40 pounds over off-trail terrain and unmaintained trails, and I've never had a complaint.  The hip-belt is very substantial which helps.  The pack just feels like it's hugging you from behind: your basically spooning with your pack

  I have had this happen twice, both times when it was at home so it didn't matter.  Still, the design of the sternum strap is very strong, it's just possible for the strap to slide-off when not in use.

About perfect, but for one small thing

My only complaint is the chest strap, designed to be removable, is not good at staying in place unless buckled and in use. Nearly lost it a few times, now it stays in the zippered pouch on the top pack unless I want it for longer hikes.

Awesome pack.

 Comfortable and stable as things get at 60-65lb pack weight on my 6"2' 190lb frame while on X-country skis and hiking the rough terrain in my high mountain desert home region. Ideal pack for establishing a base camp.

A bit hot on the back on a hot summer day but perfect on the winter and snow camping trips

  But overall, I would take this pack on my next trip without a second thought.  5 stars.

I have taken this pack on a few mountaineering trips and have found it extremely comfortable and capable for the appropriate uses.  It's a bit of a heavy pack compared with some of the alternative brands, but given the suspension that it comes with, I am willing to sacrifice a little extra weight in the pack for the comfort that it provides with heavy loads.  The hip belt and shoulder straps are very well padded.  The suspension puts the majority of the weight on the hips and makes even larger loads (>40lbs) seem not to bad
