 I removed the plastic sealing ring from the lid and washed both as thoroughly as possible, wiped the inside of the cooker body, and washed the inner pot of course, but it still remains. 5. The included user manual can be better. It'd be helpful for the first-time pressure cooker if there is a photo to show how it looks when the float valve pops on when working pressure is reached

Be cautious if you are a long-time slow cooker and/or pressure cooker..

 Can't give it 5 stars because it broke after only 3 uses, and can't give it 4 stars because I had to get back in touch with them after two weeks to follow up on the support ticket only to find out it was never assigned to anyone. Bottom line is I love the Instant Pot, but it is made in China like a lot of things and it only lasted 3 times (not even 2 months) so quality is suspect and support needed some follow up to get going.

 I promptly responded and a day later I received a follow up email with more questions, another test to run, and more images requested. I responded to that one and within minutes received a response noting they can confirm the heating element is not functioning properly and that they would be sending me a new bottom portion of my Instant Pot. Then two days later I got an email saying they are out of stock but that when in stock mine will ship and I will get notification it is on the way. Changed my review from a 1-star to a 3-star because even though I had to reach out a second time to get support, once they were involved they did diagnose the problem and will be sending a replacement

For what it's worth.....

 The booklet is not really all that handy as I spend a lot of time on line looking for recipes and specific instructions on which button combination to push for certain things but this too shall pass. Overall, it is a nice item. Large. Takes up way too much room to leave out on a counter so if you don't want to sacrifice premium real estate in the kitchen, you are going to need a closet or shelf to put this thing on

I did not fall in love with this item like so many others reportedly have. I am of the old school group who has 3 pressure cookers/canners and uses them year round. I can see the appeal for people new to pressure cooking, especially the timer feature that allows you to walk away from the unit which will beep to alert you when things are done. I don't recommend you leaving this thing on without supervision any more than I would recommend you leaving matches on the table where you straight A student, 8 year old can reach them

Nice item to add to the collection

 I am sold on the Instant Pot though, just not this size. I have to have one a size smaller, the 6 qt.   IP makes a 3, 6, 8 and now a 10 qt. So there’s a size for every family

 Clean up is also a breeze as the pieces are all dishwasher safe. The 8 quarts is far to big for our family, it’s also too heavy for me to lift, and doesn’t fit in any of my cupboards or pantry, so I’ll have to return it. I am sold on the Instant Pot though, just not this size. I have to have one a size smaller, the 6 qt

Item states stainless steel inner pot but got the ceramic pot instead :(  If you want the stainless steel look elsewhere.

Not as advertised!

  Does it substitute traditional cooking? No, Can it cook every delicious meal known to man? Neither.  But for what it can do, speed and convenience. This a top recommendation on my book.  P

Now I am a believer

For the life of me, I cannot get the gasket to stop smelling like old animal fat that's spoiled after cooking some beef and pork roasts. I've soaked the devil out of the unit in white vinegar - for a day! It still stinks. Just touching that gasket transfers the smell on my hands. If you don't get rid of that smell, it seeps into the food you cook later

Love the speed to cook but the gasket STINKS

The instant pot works great but I order this on line and it came in a 3 days but the box was badly damage and today I started using it and found out the handle was broken badly.

 I rubbed butter and spices under the skin, stuffed with lemons, browned first, placed some whole potatoes and carrots around it, and then cooked. Turned out tender and flavorful but not mushy and gross like crock pot chicken (I put my crockpot away for good!). People ask me what I make in here and I say, anything!! When I'm planning a meal for any time of day, I think about what I have in the fridge and freezer and then google instant pot recipes with those ingredients. Works for breakfast foods and desserts

There's hardly anything you can't make it here and everything turns out great! Buy one for yourself and one as a gift. Or buy two for yourself and throw away your rice cooker and crockpot because you won't need them anymore
